Great vid man, I just got an 04 GX and I’ve been wanting to do intake and throttle body spacer ASAP, but it’s saying 05-10. Nothing really has changed though right? Will this and the afe intake be compatible? Thx
Hello, I believe the intake will not fit on the GX470 models with the metal intake manifold. I have a 2003 and 2007 model which differ in intakes and have different mounting points. This makes me believe that it is not compatible with the earlier years unfortunately. I would try to reach out to the company to confirm before buying.
Just get a newer intake and throttle body from a junk yard. You will want a 2005 or newer. Cost me $163. Thats what I'm doing plus the newer intake performs better.

Welcome to the community! I always try to knock out the maintenance part of a car when I buy a used one. Definitely check on the timing belt and the water pump. Also replace the spark plugs, new intake filter, clean the MAF and throttle body. Carbonized cabin filter on the inside and most important some good full synthetic oil!
@@nkautos thanks for the tips. First I have to detail it though. I am going to make a video on my boring TH-cam channel so people can see it and give me advise as this is a new territory for me to adventure with. No KDSS so I will install a lift, just don’t know which one.

Henry Ranola Thank you for the support! I got it custom done. Its a Borla muffler in the center that connects to a Y pipe for the tips in the back. Sooner or later I hope to do long tube headers along with the system.

Some vehicles might not have an aftermarket spacer available. I would try to find one based on the bolt pattern and the inlet diameter
What size nut does the throttle body stud need?
I believe it was a 10mm

Couldn't the air box stay in. While you remove the flex hose?
Shawn Ballard Yes, absolutely! I just wanted to make sure the box was clean and to wash my K&N insert out. You could loosen the vacuum lines and move the tube like I did in the video!

@@nkautos do these spacers help? May go from fj to gx470 for a while, make a little off the fj and find a cheap gx. I know on the v6 they're worthless, just wondering. Thanks
svnbit I can honestly say that I do see a little of a throttle response difference and you can definitely hear it! I feel a little low end torque increase but it’s nothing substantial.

It definitely increases intake noise, so if that's your thing then yes. Paired with the AFE intake the cabin noises are great to listen to. Improved mpg has gone out the window ever since installing 33's.
What is the purpose of this throttle body spacer?
It’s supposed to increase low end torque and also increase throttle response. I have seen some improvements compared to before.
@@nkautos are any of those improvements an increase in gas mileage??
@@M5verdriver I have seen a little bit of increase on the overall range but I haven’t seen the MPG changing drastically.
