- New Driver Links below and a FULL walkthrough guide on how to setup the ONEXGPU using the Lenovo Legion Go (same guide for Rog Ally X). This video also includes Tips and Best Practices for getting the most out of these devices. You can also use this guide with the GPD G1. More details below...
NOTE: If the ONEXGPU xconnect icon isn't there after updating the drivers, you need to install the ccc2_install file again to get AMD Settings App working again. First, you may have to uninstall the old AMD Software blue boardered AMD logo app (only uninstall this one, don’t touch the full red logo app) under “Apps - Installed Apps”. After a restart then install ccc2 app then restart again. Now you should be all set! You can right click on your desktop to open the AMD software or use the mini task bar AMD icon to open the “AMD Settings App” which will show up as adrenaine. 😊

I highly recommend setting your Legion Go TDP to balanced (18-20W) on the side bar menu when connected to the onexgpu. Having it higher can starve the onexgpu’s power and can cause disconnetion issues from your handheld. This can cause stuttering or crashes. You can lower the OS setting in the same menu to efficiency or balance. Lowering your Legion go VRAM in the bios to 1GB or auto can also help. (You can do the same with the Rog Ally X)
If you’re still having disconnection issues you can also try disabling usb power saving mode in the windows settings. (Credit to FunnyGamer for this tip ✌🏻)
If the Legion Go is having stuttering issues. There was a Windows update in March 2024 that might be causing the issue. Try Uninstalling the March 2024 Windows Update by following these steps:
Search Uninstall Updates in the Start menu and press the Enter key.
Click on the Uninstall button next to the KB5035853 update. Then click on Uninstall once again to remove the update. (Restart your device after)
If you're using the Legion Go display and it's still flipping to portrait in game, try changing the display settings in the game to windowed or windowed borderless instead of fullscreen.
The onex provided Thunderbolt4 cable is a major culprit for stability and connection issues. Upgrading the cable is a good idea.
Active vs. Passive Thunderbolt 4 cables:
Active cables include technology that help boost transfer rates over cable lengths greater than 0.8M. This allows you to maintain full transfer speeds across the entire length of the cable. If you purchase a passive cable length greater than 0.8M, you are only going to receiving 20 Gbps transfer speeds. www.razer.com/...

I hope you'll love the ONEXGPU as much as I do. Thank you for the support! ✌🏻
If you use these drivers with the Asus Rog Ally X, it will kill your bluetooth connection to wireless earbuds, it's a Realtek issue. Everytime you pair headphones it will crash to blue screen . If you have a Ally X and are cool with using wired headphones go for it..
That’s really interesting and strange lol. Thanks for sharing!
Let me know if you find a fix. Means I can’t use my ONEXGPU otherwise!
Please let me know if you find a solution I thought i was the only one or had a faulty device
@reke9942 nah , I just bought wired headphones to use. Using the eGPU is worth the trade off. We'll see what happens with future updates.
You really should consider pinning this comment or at least put it in the description. A lot of people with Ally X's are using this video not knowing the repercussions and down side to doing this. @GamingRepairs
this is absolutely the best video anyone with the LeGo and OneXGPU should be watching
Thank you! I appreciate it! 😊🙌🏻
This video is THE definitive guide for getting the OneXGPU and LegionGo playing nice together! I had completely botched the install and was starting to freak out a bit when I came across this video. I followed the instructions to the letter and now everything is running like a dream! A thousand times thank you for making this vid 😁😁
Yes! That’s what I like to hear! I’m super glad it helped and I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. 😁🙌
This video is a lifesaver. I just got my OneX GPU and it wasn't being detected at all. Following this step-by-step really helped! Subscribed to your channel 😊
Thank you!!😊
Without this video I don't know what I would have done with the extremely vague instructions that come with the device, your expertise in this field is greatly appreciated. I've subscribed to the channel and liked the video.
Thank you for the support and taking the time to write me a note! I felt like it was super vague too. I’m glad the time I’ve invested in the channel is helping the community. 😊✌🏻
Nelly-- you did a fantastic and thorough job detailing how to set this up. I followed your directions step-by-step and they worked flawlessly. Thank you!
Aw you’re welcome! I’m glad. Thanks for letting me know! 😊🙌
This might be my TH-cam helpful video of 2024. Honestly I’m more curious how you figured out all the steps to solve this! This worked perfectly for my ally x. You’re a hero!
Awe thanks! And you’re welcome! It was interesting for sure lol. Lots of discovery, trials and error troubleshooting to figure out the issues. Back in February there was zero content in this. Once I figured it out, I needed to share it with the world haha. 😁🙌🏻
RESPECT! Got the blue screen of death from your original video but that was my fault not yours! This install worked great! Thank you!! Saved me heaps of time working it out myself.
Awesome! I’m glad this one worked out. You’re welcome!😁
This was a tremendous help. Got my RX 7600 XT up and running on my Go. Works great.
Awesome! 😁🙌🏻
Will be updating with this soon. Havent played on it in a bit. You saved me when it first came out!! Just wanted to see if your still making stuff. Almost 1k lets go!
Thanks! I’m super close. 😊👍
Literally bought my onexgpu for the ally x and was so excited but I’m not that into all the drivers and how to set stuff up so thank you😭 life saver fr , definitely was not cheap
You’re welcome! 😊👍
Thank you so much Nell! I just got my OneXGPU in today and followed your tutorial to the t. Didn’t run into a single problem. Kudos to you ma’am!
You’re very welcome! I’m glad it help and thankful that you took the time to let me know. 😁🙌🏻
Thanks for making this video Nelly! Made it so easy to get my Onexgpu up and running!
Awesome! You’re welcome! 😁👍
Incredible! THANK YOU!! You're a rock star. This video is so well done and thorough. I thought my onexgpu was worthless and that I just wasted my money trying to get some more juice out of my Legion Go. 😊😊👌👌
You’re welcome! There was a learning curve for sure but I’m glad this video is helping others. Thanks for taking the time to write me a note! 😁🙌🏻
Absolutely top notch helpful guide! I followed everything to the letter and it worked perfectly first time. The only difference I noticed is that the driver download for both the 7600M-XT and the integrated graphics 7840U are identical now so no need to download both.
Great! 😁🙌🏻
Thank you! I appreciate it. 😊 That’s interesting about the driver.
helpful and quick! Especially after a driver update after doing this some months ago. Thank you!
You’re welcome! Thanks for the positive feedback! 😁
Thanks a lot for this really indepth, but easy to follow video. You have sorted out my eGPU frequent disconnection problem with your advice about the Legio Go power settings. It has made a world of difference, and now I can use a longer Thunderbolt 4 cable, too.
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
You’re welcome! I’m glad it helped. Thanks for leaving me feedback, it’s appreciated. 😊
Thanks Nelly! New drivers are working great on the Legion. Great video it was a very smooth installation 😊
Thank you! 💕
This is a wonderful guide! I followed each step and had zero problems 😊 thanks for this. Good job too, you explained everything well and in a way I was able to understand easily and I’m very new to pc/handheld gaming but I never once was lost or confused.
You are very welcome. Thanks for the great feedback, I appreciate it! I put thought and effort in to try to taylor to different learning styles. It makes me happy to see that the guide is working and helping. 😊
thank you for this step by step, i just ordered this and am excited to install and use it on my go.
No problem! Come back and let me know what you think when you get it. 😊
Wow! You are a lifesaver!!! Had to do a fresh install due to driver issues when I updated and was going nuts!!! Thank you so much
You’re welcome! 😊
Thanks so much Nelly finally I get my Legion go work with GPDG1 eGPU. Really marvelous job. It was setting on the shelf Thanks agin 🙏
Awesome! You’re welcome! 😁🙌🏻
Thank you so much!!!! I was pulling my non existent hair out trying to figure this out. Thank you so much for this video. 🙏❤️
Yay! You’re welcome! 😁🙌🏻
Jesus Christ! I would have not been able to install my SGWzone eGPU without this girl.
Thank you for your help!
You’re very welcome! 😁🙌🏻
Everything worked beautifully!! 7 Days To Die looks absolutely Incredible!! You're Amazing, Nel!!! 🙏❤️
You’re welcome! I’m glad we were able to get everything working! 😁🙌🏻
Great tutorial, got mine up and running today thanks you to you.
I’m happy to hear it! 😁👍
This is the best guide for a complete dummy like myself that knows very little about conputers and even moreso graphics and processors and how to go about installing them.
I watched another one of your videos and garnered many questions mostly nothing was working, then I watched this video, followed everything to the letter and now my games work again. Feel overjoyed. Thank you.
I was unsure about the onexgpu. I had to Google it. Is it worth it for the Legion Go, what improvements does the OneXGPU offer with the Legion Go?
I hope you continue to make updated videos when new drivers come out, so that novices and others alike can learn how to install them and play our games.
You got me as a new subscriber thanks again vm!
Hey, thanks for the kind words and support! I really appreciate the sub and that you took the time to write me a comment. I’m glad everything is working now. Happy gaming! 😁✌🏻
If you need help or have questions feel free to ask. 😊
This works for the May update. Thanks again Nelly
Awesome! 😁
Just got my onexgpu and found your guide. Thank you!
You're welcome! I hope you love it!
Mine just came in the mail!!! Seeing your videos made me make the decision to buy one for my legion go, tysm for these guides!!
That’s super exciting! Let me know what you think about it. You’re welcome! 😊👍
Its amazing oml, picked up a razer cable as well its definitely great been using it as a secondary setup, only issue is unreal engine 5 games can be a bit unstable but thats ue5 for ya lmao @GamingRepairs
@@kameronjohnson8687 Awesome! Great choice on the Razer cable, it’s solid! 😁👌
Okay so update on the egpu it works amazingly but has a habbit of dropping connection/crashing, any tips to get that resolved?
What is your TDP set to and your vram?
Good stuff! I am assuming this process is the same anytime an update is released? If Lenovo releases and new AMD GPU update / etc. via Legion Space or where. We just download the latest of these two drivers and press forward all over again?
Thanks! Yes, the process is the same for updating. Don’t update the driver in Legion Space or windows for the legion go. It will override the side load and cause issues with the egpu. Only use the AMD site 2 drivers (links in description) and the same process and you’ll be good to game! 😁👌
What is that stand for the ONEXGPU you're using called ? It seems to fit perfectly. Great videos btw, my ONEX will arrive soon.
Thank you! 😁
I’m using an adjustable vertical laptop stand. I cut a 1/2” piece of black foam and slotted it in the raise it high enough so the fan isn’t blocked.

I picked up another stand today. It goes perfectly. You can check out the pics and link on the channel community page. 😁
@@GamingRepairs Thank you so much ! I followed your instruction and my onexgpu works fine trying it the first time. Awesome Video.
@@kubilaycetin4313 You’re welcome! 😊
4/17 Drivers are really good on HD2, noticeable improvement.
That’s great news 😁. I’ll update it tomorrow.
@@GamingRepairsHello nelly! There is another update for the amd drivers on the website at the moment for both 7840u and 7600m xt (24.4.1). If I am going to update the drivers, should I follow all these steps again or can I just manually download the drivers and install them? Thanks!
@@TsekMeytPlays Hi! I have a quicker video to cover updates so that we don’t break anything in the process. 😊

Glad someone sent me this before I set it up, I woul've never figured all this out lol.
Yeah, it’s not like it comes with great instructions 😂.
Lots of trial and error till I sorted all this out. I’m happy it was sent your way. 😊
@@GamingRepairs after using it a bunch over the last 3-4 days, i still get a disconnect every 3 or so hours which can be really annoying, got the same cable that you said to order as well, any clue what i might be doing wrong? only thing i've seen is to set the LG itself to balanced but wouldn't that cause performance issues for CPU-intensive stuff?
could it also maybe be an issue of an extension cord not delivering enough power? cuz i got mine plugged into one because it wouldn't reach the wall otherwise.
Did you pull out the adapter on the brick and get a PC power cord with a ground to extend it? (Like in this video link below)

@@GamingRepairs I did NOT try that, will give it a go ty
Excellent informational format followed this to the T and my systems working perfectly. Appreciate you. several questions would occulink to USB-C improve anything for the Legion go? If you run the one XGPU to an external monitor is it better to go to the oculink to HDMI route?
Hey, thanks! Oculink can only go to Oculink so it can’t be used with the Legion Go. You would need a device that also have an Oculink port like the onexplayer X1 or X1 mini, etc. For an external monitor, using the display port is better for monitors and HDMI is better for TV’s(oculink isn’t for display output). What are you using as a monitor?
@@GamingRepairs I was going to just use a tv with hdmi hookup
Great, that’s the one you want to use for the TV. In the display settings, change the monitors to show only 2 so that the Legion go display turns off. That will help. 😊
Nelly, Legion Space now has the official AMD driver update to download. Will this work with the Onexgpu drivers if I replace the 780M drivers with them? I can try but I need to allocate at least 30 minutes for the test and I was wondering if you have tried it yet. I just updated my 7600m xt and 780M drivers earlier this week with the latest from the AMD website using your videos as a guide and my Legion Go continues to work flawlessly in handheld and docked mode. Thank you so much for making this process so easy to follow without any interpretation or a need to think for myself! I'm grateful for your videos every day I use my Legion Go. It works so well that I use my Legion Go wayyyyyy more than my Legion Pro 7i 4090 laptop. The performance isn't nearly as good as the 4090 but the Legion Go + Onexgpu gives me the portability that I wish I had with the laptop.
You’re very welcome! 😊🙌🏻 I like this combo and use it more than my 4080 laptop. The new driver legion official driver won’t work with the onexgpu and legion go. You’ll run into problem if you switch. Amd need to fix their software and how it interacts with the Z1 extreme chip GPU and eGPUs. Save you some frustrations, don’t update it lol. 😉👍
@@GamingRepairs Thanks! I knew you are the right person to ask about this! Your videos are spot on and I can see you having 500k subscribers in the future. Glad to be here at the ground level. Keep up the great videos.
@BunkerClock5039 Aw thanks so much! 💕 I’m glad to have you here! 😊
I have a follow up question … would you then never update through legion space and only ever use the driver updates from AMD settings application?
For now, yes. Unless or until amd releases a software that works with both, this is our best option using the amd settings application. But it won’t pull updates. You’ll have to download them when they release. Usually that’s around mid month every month. 😊
Hey Nelly, I'm having a blast with m OneX and Legion Go, thanks to you! It is my first gaming PC and I'm wondering about updates. Do I still do the Bios updates with my handheld? I understand I'll do the new drivers update when available, but don't know if I need to update Bios when available... Thanks for the help
Hey! I’m glad you’re loving it! 😊 Yes, you’ll want to update the bios and other things aside from the AMD drivers (which are done the same way as in this video or you can use my new driver updates video for a shorter guide).
nice detailed explanation and video. do you think there could be any issues with side loading the vanilla AMD software and driver, with future BIOS updates or Legion Space updates, for that matter. Do you even use the LS or 3rd party utilities like HC, playnite, etc
Thanks! I don’t use Legion Space at all lol. It’s turned off. I do use playnite, that works good. It’s possible, but if I run into something or see comments with issues I’ll investigate and share any solution I can find. At some point I would like to see AMD fix the compatibility with the AMD Radeon graphics and 7600m XT drivers so they can be used with their AMD adrenaline program instead of manually installing amd settings app each time I update the drivers. If that happens we can all go back to the official legion go driver instead of using the 780m graphics one. That would be ideal.
Do you know what the reason would be for the "Processors with Graphics" option to not be showing up under Browse Products on the AMD website? I'm trying to get this set up with the Ally X. Thankfully you provided links, but I was hoping to check to see if there were updated drivers since this video is over 5 months old now.
I keep the links up to date so it’ll take to you the right page with the newest drivers. August 29th was the most recent driver date. I use the same links from this description to update my devices every month. 😊

Love the video very easy to understand thanks so much. But had a question what are the settings you have it on I’m having a hard time running game the onex keeps disconnecting while I play the games.
Thank you! TDP should be set to Balanced and VRAM on the Legion Go to the lowest number or auto. If the OneXGPU is still having disconnection issues, the problem might be the Thunderbolt 4 cable especially if you’re still using the original OneX cable that came with it. I have more note in the description on the video in case something in there helps you too.
@@GamingRepairs awesome thanks so much for the reply I will try it Thanks again 🙏

Also i just use default settings on the Adrenaline software. I tried changing the settings to HYPR RX but the eGPU won't work for me. It only works when im on default.
You’re welcome! I leave mine on default in the AMD Settings app too. I’ve got my vram set to auto on the legion go. You’ll want to use auto or 1GB. 😊
Will definitely do that as well. Thanks again so much! ❤

This video saved my butt. Went out of town for a week and my X1 won't charge and died so I can't do the bios flash. I forgot my Dell XPS 3 in 1 as a back up. Thankfully I brought my legion go. With the egpu it would be able to run 4 portable monitors...if I brought all the right cables🤣. But its running 2 no problem and then using my ipad pro as a 3rd monitor with duet
Love the clever improve to solve your problem! Good stuff! 😂🙌🏻
@@GamingRepairsThank you!
I've always had an issue with my onexgpu not working sometimes, I thought it was the oculink cable. Id restart the x1 a few times and it would usually work. The other day I couldn't get it to work with the x1, then tried it on the legion go, it wouldn't work there either. Have you had that issue?
You want to make sure the drivers are updated to the same one. I noticed on the Legion go that after I updated the onexgpu on the X1, I had to do it on the Legion go to match the driver versions.
You might want to try my Oculink fix/install video for the X1 if the issue persists. I can’t remember if you ran through that video yet or not.
@@GamingRepairs thank you so much! I'll try that!

Awesome! You’re welcome! 😊
Hi mate, could you let me know how you did it with your Ally X? I am having nothing but issues. Do I just leave the ASUS provided graphics drivers installed? I cannot download Ally X Graphics drivers from the ASUS website. I need help :(
@Robin2win14 Hi! The links to the drivers for both the onexgpu/gpd g1 and the Legion go/Ally x are in the description. Those are the only drivers you can use and they are directly from AMD, not Asus. Please try running through the guide again using those two drivers. The Legion go and Ally x use the same AMD driver.
Thanks again nelly!
No problem!! :)
Thanks Nelly Amazing video. I noticed that the legion space built in overlay fps counter does not work any more after the driver updates. Do you think there will be a work around for this in the future when Lenovo gets around to fixing the LeGo?
You’re welcome! Hopefully there will be. If AMD fixes the app that the Legion uses so that it can co-exist with the 7600m XT driver, then we could keep the AMD Radeon Graphics and that app so that the overlay would work for the Legion Go driver. It still wouldn’t work for the 7600m XT driver though unless Lenovo made it so that it would recognize other GPU’s. I’m thankful that there’s at least a workaround lol. 😊
You deserve my subscription. Tnx for this... more vids tutorial plss. Thanks 😊
Thank you for the sub! I appreciate it! Which device are you using? The Rog Ally X or Legion Go?
Great guide. Just used this to set up my OneXGpu. Mine works but I can access AMD adrenaline or AMD settings even though it shows it’s installed. The Xconmect icon is there and it all works no issue, but do I need to go back and reinstall that ccc2 file?
Thanks! Yeah, just go back into the AMD folder and manually install the ccc2 file again, restart and you should be good to use the AMD settings app.
Hi. Thank you so much for the tutorial. It's really odd that this has to be the process to get this egpu working . I have a problem with tracking frames by and settings. Basically nothing I do changes the N/A instead of a number of frames
You’re welcome! 😊 It is odd but it’s AMD’s own compatibility issues with the AMD Radeon Graphics in the Z1 extreme chips and the AMD eGPUs because they won’t work properly together on Adrenaline. This is why we need to change the driver on the Legion and also change adrenaline to the AMD settings app so peace can be made between the two devices. Once you change the Legion Go driver to 780m, the Legion fps overlay will stop working. You’ll need to use the Steam in-game FPS counter, the AMD settings app overlay, or another program like MSI afterburner to capture the fps.
Love the content and the process. Thank you
You’re welcome! I appreciate the feedback, thank you! 😁🙌🏻
@@GamingRepairs, by the way, do you have any links to where you get your LGO skins and 1xgpu stand? I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Hi! If I’m starting this process on the ROG Ally X today, can I assume that I’m getting the most up to date drivers? Thank you!
Hey! Yes, the link in the description will take you to the most updated drivers. I actually go back to this video for the links every time I want to update. I always keep the links updated if there’s any changes from Asus.
That’s correct. If you search the windows search bar for AMD, do any apps pop up? If so, what’s the name?
Check out the pinned comment for the Ally X too. The current drivers knock out the Bluetooth audio.
Great video
Thank you! 😊
*Thank you ma'am. Are you the dadvocate in disguise as you voices are identical! My wife thanks you as I was spending soo much time getting nowhere, lol! AMD has changed the drivers page and processors with graphics is gone. They've made it 50x harder.*
Just a note, on my Legion Go and ONEXGPU once I get it setup and windows fully updated I disabled windows uodate for the max allowed 5 weeks. Then I disable any other updates so nothing gets messed up. And on my legion go I tweaked it out and made Windows 11 barebones. I uninstalled all possible apps and then I force removed the phone app, and all the other apps that run all the time. To do this you need to use the powers he'll and command prompt. But I've got my system crazy streamlined where I can play games with great fps and the highest
You got rid of all the bloat! 😁👍
You’re welcome! Not the same person but I’ll look up the dadvocate. 😂 Yeah, the changed the page right after I made the video and definitely made it worse. At least my links are updated and take you to right place.
Thanks for putting up such a resourceful video. It is very helpful.
I have legion go pairing with the GPD G1. I am not sure if anyone has the same experience as mine, the G1 just keep disconnecting itself randomly through games.
Appreciated if anybody has any advice how to fix. Its very frustrating 😢
You're welcome! For your GPD G1, is it safe to assume you're using the Legion Go and the Legion Go display (not an external monitor) when it's disconnecting?
If so, turn the TDP to balance (lower it more if needed). The GDP G1 only outputs 60 or 65 watts of power (unless maybe there's a bios flash to increase that). You'll also want to turn down the OS settings to efficiency if possible.
It sounds like when you're playing there's a power struggled between the devices that causing it to disconnect. Lowering the pwoer comsumption from the handheld should help. If you haven't tried changing the cable out, I'd recommend using an active thunderbolt 4 cable - either the Razer or Apple Pro to ensure a stable connection versus a passive cable and also rule out the cable overheating which could cause it to lose the tightness of the connection at the port.
Another possibly dumb question... after running the CCC2 installer, I ended up with a program called AMD Game Performance and Monitoring instead of AMD Settings. I clicked on the App to see if maybe it was just renamed but I can't seem to get it to launch.
I still seem to be able to access adrenaline edition by clicking the up arrow on in the task bar
It’s changed a little. You can right click on your desktop to open the AMD software or use the mini task bar icon. 😊
Thank you!!!
You’re welcome! 😊
I noticed after installing the OneX drivers first, that it shown the caution logo next to the driver? I followed 100% everything but its showing a caution logo by the OneX drive when in device manager
Never mind. It seemed to have removed this logo. So with this complete, will I see a difference in some games with these drivers installed, and updated with this OneX Egpu?
That’s good lol. You should see better performance with these drivers. If you use the stock Legion go driver, games crash and there’s issues with the eGPU. This will help you get off on the right foot so that you don’t have to go through the same leg work I did. 😁👍

If I am updating the onex graphics driver with the latest one, do I need to uninstall the current one before installing the newest driver?
No, I’ve never had to. If you do have problems though then you’ll want to DDU and start fresh.
@@GamingRepairs after I updated both drivers to June's release, the Legion Go seems to be having issues running games on its on. Have you had this issue?
I haven’t done the June updates yet. Which games is it having issues with?
@GamingRepairs it seems to be them all. Total use of the Legion Go as a handheld is removed. I am going to try and revert back to an older driver version or I am going to try the official driver from lenovo to see if it makes a difference.
thanks that was helpful
You’re welcome! Thanks for letting me know it helped! 😁
Got a question and thanks a million for being a guide through the darkness. Do the One X GPU have to be connected to the internet to operate and if so, where is the menu for it?
You’re welcome! 😊 No, you don’t need to be connected to the internet. Only to get the driver downloaded for install. When I’m docked I always hard LAN connect the internet through it so that I’m getting the fastest and most stable connection. But, you don’t need to be connected to use it.
Hi, thank you very much for the very detailed video! I really appreciate it. What if I don’t see the INF file?
You're welcome! In the folder where you don't see the INF file. Which folder path does it read? C:/AMD/... etc.
Hey. What's the stand you're using for the OneX? And does it cover any of the intake vent?
Hi! It’s the perfect stand. You can tuck your cables through it and it doesn’t block anything. I have more pictures of it in the community page of the channel.

Maybe making a video on how to optimize all the settings for best gaming performance. I’ve already come across a couple settings in the windows settings (display) tab that would be good to know about. Thank you
Also if you manage to read this by chance, is there anything I can do about having to change screen orientation to landscape witch in turn flips my legion go screen upside down, but also only remedy for external monitor from being displayed upside down. Am I missing something thank you

Can i get a link to that thunderbolt cable you are using there? I need a dependable cable that works with no issues. Also, that charging cable looks slick with the digital charge indicator. Where did you pick that one up?
You bet! I have both cables in the description of this video below but the Razer one is the best overall super consistent, no disconnection and both the 0.8M and the 2M are perfect. It’s an active thunderbolt 4 cable whereas the LED one is a passive, still works good, sometimes it’s disconnects but seeing the wattage coming through can be really helpful for troubleshooting and testing.

Hi thanks for the great video! Do we absolutely need to change the Legion Go driver? I know little about computer and scared to modify the original driver. If its necessary, will it change how we update the GO when updates are available? Sorry if the question seems weird, but I don't want to mess anything up on my favorite handheld. Thanks again
Hey, no problem! It’s needed if you want to use an external monitor and not have issues. I did make a video for updating drivers when they come out. It takes about 5-10 minutes to update both when new drivers come out.

AMD is refusing to allow me to install the 7840U driver for my ALLY X. It keeps saying it is incompatible and booting me out. I got the driver for the GPU to install fine, but I'm stuck. Please help!!
You may have missed a step or scene in the video. After deleting the folder, running the driver download file is supposed to fail so that the correct new folders populate. Then you have to manually side load the driver. Try starting over the video from the start and come here if it’s still not working. 😊

@@GamingRepairs I actually left another comment because I wasn't sure if you'd see my next question here. After running the CCC2 installer, I ended up with a program called AMD Game Performance and Monitoring instead of AMD Settings. I clicked on the App to see if maybe it was just renamed but I can't seem to get it to launch.
Hey, great video, I'm interested in picking up the onexgpu to get higher fps, specifically for shooter games. Would you say it's worth the performance boost?
You said once you update the legion go drivers, the legion go settings overlay will no longer be compatible because you no longer have the amd interal graphics drivers. Does that only hold true if you're using the onexgpu with it? I enjoy using the overlay to switch between my settings I use for gaming and the settings I use for my workstation set up with a portable monitor.
Thank you! It’s a 3 times performance boost for graphics. For me it is worth it but for others that might not be.
For example when I last did time spy benchmarking…
You get a 3336 score with just the Legion Go. With the OneXGPU connect and using the Legion Go display you get 8226 then if you connect to an external Monitor the score jumps to 9534.
Once you update the Legion Go driver from the AMD Radeon Graphics to the AMD 780m Graphics you lose the FPS overlay counter functionally. It will still tell you temps. Everything else in the settings side bar should still work.
@@GamingRepairsThanks for the reply.
I use a dock to utilize it as a workstation on my legion go. Am I able to plug the ONEXGPU into the USB C port on my dock or should I plug the ONEX into the legion go's top port and the dock into the bottom port?
Also, just to confirm, updating drivers will only take away FPS counter functionality and not anything like resolution and refresh rate functionality on the pop out menu correct?
Thanks again!
@@bridgerwilliamson721 I still use it for those funnctions. You'll plug the onexgpu on the top Legion Go Thunderbolt port. You could connect directly to the bottom for your dock if you want. Since the onexgu has 2 usb ports, I have a powered usb hub connected to the onexgpu for my mouse, keyboard and camera. Then I typically plug my mic into the other usb port right one the onexgpu and leave the bottom legion port empty. Display out always direct from the onexgpu so you don't have a bottleneck.

Which handheld are you using?
This is a great guide. I do have a question. Today my onexgpu started to flash it's led s and no longer would connect to my legion go. Is there a way to hard reset the onexgpu?
Thank you! There’s no hard reset that I’m aware of aside from unplugging it. I have a few questions to help narrow down the potential issue:
1. Is the blue light on the power brick staying solid?
2. Did you try the bottom usb port on the Legion go? If so, did the behaviour of the ONEXGPU and the rgb lights change?
3. Which thunderbolt 4 cable are you using? Onex that came with it or another one?
@@GamingRepairs The blue light was staying on but now when i plug it into the Legion Go it turns off. No LED's are turning on at any time. I am using the cable it came with and i have tried both usb's.
@@Yeden_of_the_Shore If the little blue light on the big power brick is turning off then it’s a faulty power supply. I’m assuming that’s the blue light that is turning off now (and not the power button blue light). If the power brick blue light turns off then no power is going to the device. If you’ve tried different power outlets and still no blue light on the brick then it’s definitely the power supply.
I’ll reply back with an invite to the onexplayer official discord and the 7600m XT channel is for the onexgpu. The Admins can help expedite your customer service ticket if your power supply is faulty.
@@GamingRepairs Yes its the blue light on the OnexGPU that is failing. The one on the brick stays blue consistently

Hi Nelly,
I just wanted to check if there have been any issues with the ONEXGPU after this tutorial. I am planning to get one ONEXGPU after this, but I am concerned about whether it is worth it.
I have had zero issues with it for months now using the steps in this video, changing the TDP to balanced and OS to efficiency or balanced (depending on what I’m doing - efficiency for gaming), and using an active Thunderbolt 4 cable like the razer one or the apply one (they are expensive but it’s worth it for the performance consistency). I have a shorter guide for future updates on drivers too that is still current. I keep the newest driver links in the description to match the changes amd made to their website after my video released.
@@GamingRepairs Thanks for all the updates on these items. Much appreciated!
You’re welcome! 😊
I hate to bother you with this question, your guide was great and worked perfectly; I have a new problem and I think it's with the ONEXGPU. For 2 days the ONEX worked, but today it stopped working, kinda. The LeGo can detect the SSD thats in the ONEX, however it doesn't dectect tbe GPU or the external display. Any ideas?
Does the RGB light up on the ONEXGPU? Which display out ports have you tried (both hdmi and the display port)? Does the xconnect icon come up on the bottom right apps at startup?
It’s possible that windows or legion space updated your Legion driver and messed it up. You might have to run through the setup again and run the ccc2 application file after to the amd settings app back.
Do you see much of a performance hit with that 2m razer cable? Been thinking about getting a longer one for couch play aswell.
So its pricy but I went with the Apple Thunderbolt 4 pro cable 6ft 2.8m cable. They also make a 9ft / 3M also. It is active cable and lets me have the room to move the LeGo around the desk or go to the couch. It can provide upto 100w of power to the LeGo and has been very stable. Tried using amazon CableMatters brand and there were issues. I know $129 usd is a lot for a cable however I have about $1300 invested in this device so far.
The Razer 2M and the Apple Pro are both active cables and good but they’re expensive. It’s worth the price though if you need the length to keep a stable performance. The Razer 2M one works well for me. I picked it up for less with a birthday coupon from Razer directly.
Hello, you make very useful videos, I subscribed. I have a question. How to properly disable onexgpu from Lenovo Legion Go, I mean on Windows itself? Thanks
Thanks for the sub! 😊
You can eject it to disconnect with the xconnect app that appears in the bottom right icon spot when you log in. Is that what you mean?

Would an oculink to usb c cable improve anything in this setup? I have the onexgpu but no connecting cables yet. So I need usb c to usb c? When i get the cable I connect to the usb c port near the oculink port on the onexgpu to the legion go right? Not the 2 blue hdmi ports on the front of the onexgpu?
It’s your device has an Oculink port, that is a better connect than Thunderbolt 4. The usb c to usb c needs to be a Thunderbolt 4 rated cable and preferable an active rated cable if you want a premium stable performance. There is only 1 Thunderbolt 4 port on the onexgpu. The blue ports in the front as USB 3.0, not HDMI. The HDMI ports are for video and audio signal out put to an external display.
So do I just never let armoury crate update drivers? And always manual install these different ones when its time to update?
Just don’t let armoury crate or windows update your graphics driver. If it does you can try going into the device manager and rolling back the driver to see if you can easily flip it back to the 780m. Otherwise you’ll have to side load it again for the Ally. Yes, manually install the different ones instead of the install all button.
Hi I am thinking of buying onexgpu for my legion go and I already watched your video but I have one question. Does messing with the drivers as in your video give worse performance when in handheld mode? Can I still have the same performance while not connected to the egpu?
Hi! It allows you to get updated drivers as they come out from amd versus waiting for drivers from Lenovo (which took months before they finally just released a new one). The only thing you would run into is portrait display flipping on some things because the legion go display is a native portrait and not landscape. Otherwise everything runs great in both situations.
Amazing and easy to do. Just recieve my onexgpu today and it’s all set , but I just opened a game and I see the same performance as I did with the internal gpu😢. What tweeks I need to do to really take advantage of the egpu?

@@GamingRepairs is it enough on the windows settings, display, graphics to make the config for the game to use the onexgpu? Or there something else’s to know if the game is using the onexgpu and not the internal ?
@@medusasoasis It should show in the game graphics settings or display settings which one it’s using (7600m XT or 780m).
In the AMD settings application you might want to double what the graphics cards are listed correctly in case they flipped around. Click on the settings gear icon, under system, hardware & drivers title - APU1 AMD Radeon 780M Graphics - GPU2 AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT
Then double check in Gaming, Graphics - GPU 1 AMD Radeon 780M Graphics (Primary/Integrated/Hybrid)

Hey Nelly, I saw that you can charge the Legion Go with the external USB GPU. After I tried it, I couldn't charge it without the built-in charger. Is there a wrong setting on my Legion Go? Thank you for your help
Hi! Only some egpu’s can charge it. It has to have reverse charging up to 100watts to work properly. Which one are you using?
Hey Nelly your Video helped me a lot when setting the onexgpu on my Lego. But I keep having issues with the onexgpu getting disconnecting randomly. I have balance mode active. It reduces the dc problem but doesn’t eliminate it. Is there a way to resolve it? I’m using your suggested cable with the led and it’s hooked up with an Ethernet and to a 4K lg tv. I don’t have a ssd yet. I was playtesting it on Elden ring.
I solved it by disabling usb power saving mode on windows settings

Thank you for the video. All went went well (asus rog ally) all but even if I have properly installed AMD app (AMD setting) with CCC2, but when I click on it, it does not launch. Tried to re install, no luck. Any other way to install the AMD set up app ?
You’re welcome!!😊
If you search amd in the windows search bar, try clicking whatever AMD app shows up. They might have changed the name in the newest driver update. Under start up apps, is there anything AMD listed there to turn on?
Are you able to just refresh the drivers and update like the more powerful desktop gpus? Without having to do all those steps?
After doing all this. Updates are a lot easier going forward. I have a new driver update video that covers how to upddate without breaking this fix. It only takes me a few minutes to update now and that's only because on the actual install load time slows me down.

Hello, I did everything just like in the video and it worked just fine for a week or so. Now i am running into problems while gaming on my tv, When playing on the tv every game just closes without an error code or a crash message and the onexgpu disconnects from the tv an then reconnects by itself as if nothing happened.
Hey! What's the error code/details that you're getting?
It's possible that windows update changed your Legion go driver back to the AMD Radeon Graphics one and or messed with the AMD Settings App install. That can happen with automatic windows updates on. If you're still having problem, try running through my external monitor fix video and keep going to the ccc2 file install for AMD settings again at the end:
th-cam.com/video/dFGZXyIv7HI/w-d-xo.html
These are a couple more things that you can try:
1. Have you turned your Legion Go TDP down to balanced?
2. Changed Vram allocation on the Legion Go to Auto or 1GB in the bios?
Followed the guide and it is working, but I'm getting really poor performance from the OneXGPU. Worse than the Z1 Extreme. Any ideas?
You might want to a DDU on the AMD drivers and start fresh if these tips don’t help…
1. Set you VRAM to Auto or the lowers value in the bios.
2. OS to Efficiency or Balance. CPU boost off essentially.
3. Set the TPD power to Balance or 18W-20W.
4. Use the Turbo button on the Onexgpu. It increases the power by 20W.
5. Install the ccc2 application for the AMD settings app again then restart the device.
If these don’t help, wipe with the DDU and redo the install. Let me know if that worked. If not, we can troubleshoot further.
