+Jonathan Morrison What if you get the 2TB option is that a good deal? I'm thinking of buying one for college in a year and just curious. Thanks and great review!
+Pyther Gark $400-500 computer doesn't have the same performance as a $1000 laptop I guarantee you. Not only that your $400-500 probably doesn't come with a half decent keyboard or mouse and NO monitor what so ever. To be able to even use your shit box of a PC would be almost $1000. The laptop to desktop performance argument only exists in Mid and up category of PC's for example an 4790k with a 970.
i honestly have to say that your videos are insane and the quality is definitely crispy. I do headphone reviews and gameplay videos and can only hope to reach the quality of your videos. nice work and you make me proud to be a subscriber
@ 4:15 : Instead of blocking the Serial Number with a black box, block it with the same color as the background; so it's not being a distraction. Just a tip. I think it would be better. I might be the only one. I don't know. Great video though!
Thanks Jonathan! This has been the most useful review I've seen so far on the iMac. After watching I made up my mind going for the 4k iMac, 8gb 256 SSD.
Couldn't agree more with the no 5400 rpm hard drive. I bought a 21.5" w/5400 HDD and will be taking it back. I just love watching the System Preferences icon jump up and down for 10 seconds before anything happens...
I don't own a Mac, or plan to buy one in the near future, but I really do enjoy your Apple videos. They are very informative! Very crispy Jon! And it doesn't make sense that Apple won't let you upgrade the ram.
Great video Jonathan. Glad you were brave enough to inform the users who aren't in the know when it comes to specifications. A lot of people will see the 4K display alone and will be sold on it right away.
I bought an imac 21.5 inch 2.8ghz 16gb ram and 1tb 5400 on Thursday. I paused your video midway called them and got the fusion drive, I wish I would have gotten just the flash but shit is expensive in Canada. Thanks!
I love the revolving camera shots, keep it up! It would be cool to see 60fps or 48 incorporated in your videos for a more closer to life feel. ..It's really disappointing to see Apple putting in low performance parts in their new machines
Love this video and I love your channel, but my iMac has the 5400 RPM hard drive and it works great! Maybe it'll get slow in the future, but for now it works good. I respect what you said about the hard drive, but I like mine :) Thanks for this video and I can't wait to see more!
I just got the iMac 27 the one for 1,799 didn't update anything. U think it would be fine far as editing video ( 4K video ) and doing photoshop work inside it. I'm coming from a Macbook Pro late 2008 model ... Would love a feedback I got it Nov 7th 2015.
I have a question, where do you think the charging port on the mouse should be, because I dont think there is a good place, it cant be on the top or bottom and on the sides it would be annoying.
Maybe hook up an external thunderbolt SSD Drive? You can boot from it (even Windows) and put all your footage on there. Butt they are really expensive of course.
Hi! Can I ask you if someone here knows something about the blinking screen with el capitan and retina? It happens to me running photoshop and other adobe's programmes... I'm desperate, adobe is imposible to talk with and appel says it's their fault...
I wish that HDD manufacturers would just go SSD or Hybrid, I mean, even 7200 RPM HDDs just are painfully slow nowadays at times. Won't be too long until ALL mechanical HDDs are rendered obsolete in favor of Vertical SSDs (Samsung certainly knows how to replace mechanical platter technology).
If you're not going to be editing much and use it mostly as a daily driver for word, web browsing, movies, small amount of editing, is the fusion drive upgrade necessary?
HDD RPM doesn't independently affect transfer speed/performance.. its the amount of data that can be carried/transferred per revolution on the HDD. Apple uses the higher standard HDD 5400RPM that allows more data to be transferred per revolution, thus allowing faster transfers of more information per revolution.
Apple needs to use ssds. I got a Samsung 850 evo recently, and I can never go back to a gard drive. the silence and speed of the ssd in unbelievable. My computer boots in less that a minute and is snappy af.
1TB fusion drive gives you 28GB of SSD storage (which has 5-6 times the read and write speed of the 5400RPM Hard Drive). SSD will help you in boot up time and opening the apps fast. But you can't really store anything much on the 28GB of SSD so it's better to get the 256GB SSD.
Maybe the bit density on it is bigger. Any info on that? The rpm isn't the only thing that affects speed. You could have lower rpms and a higher bit density and get similar speeds. But yeah SSD should be standard. Apple has been pretty lame lately with their underwhelming specs and higher prices.
I just bought the new 4K with the 5400rpm hard drive. I am not a programmer nor I am planning on editing a lots of 4K video but after watching your review, I am having second thought about the new iMac. should I keep it or should I take it back to best buy to upgrade to the 27inc 5K???
20 seconds into the video and it already looks like the dopest review on the planet.
Everything you need to know on Apple's new 4K iMac!
+Jonathan Morrison What if you get the 2TB option is that a good deal? I'm thinking of buying one for college in a year and just curious. Thanks and great review!
+Ross Obermeier get a gaming notebook
+Pyther Gark clearly you are with that profile pic'

"No! Helllll no!" lmao

Jonathan, your videos keep getting better day by day. Keep up the good work man!

They should've put only an SSD, especially for that price. The hard drives need to leave this generation.
Agreed
+ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴇᴩᴛɪʟɪᴀɴ ʙʀᴏᴛʜᴇʀʜᴏᴏᴅ - HISSSSSS the computer doesn't suck, it just has 1 and a half bottlenecks.
+wowitsbryce Just like the 16Gb Models on flagship smartphones
***** I hate Macs too.
***** I agree. Hard drives should only be used on extremely low budgets. They break way too easily and it's too common. #NoMoreHardDrives
There must be no video from now on without a mini roast of the charging port location on the Magic Mouse! haha
Great video Jonathan. Glad you were brave enough to inform the users who aren't in the know when it comes to specifications. A lot of people will see the 4K display alone and will be sold on it right away.
So crispy.

Excellent video as always Jonathan! Great editing!
+Dark Mysteries Thanks man!
excellent video review of this 4K 21 inch iMac. Beauty shots and flow. Very entertaining and informative video.
Legit video
Screen is crispy! Good work on the video.
@Jonathan Morrison i belive you CAN connect a late 2013 Mac Pro to this to use it as an external display.
It's finally out !!! 😍 been waiting for it !
broke my screen from smashing the like button bro
Great camera shots and editing on this one!
I love the revolving camera shots, keep it up!

Great video idk how you come up with ur ideas but that's why I keep watching 👍💯
I just now realized that this screen allows you to view true cinema 4K content as opposed to only 3840 wide.
Great Video man!
Smashed that like button through the table!
Would love to see a side by side comparison of boot speed and application loading speeds of the 5400 drive and the fusion and or SSD drives.

The best tech channel 👌

The cuality of your videos is simple awesome. Continue like that!
+Exhatum Thanks bud!
love the video Jonathan ☺☺
I have a late 2013 maxed out (core i7, 32gb ram) EXCEPT the 5400rpm drive. God. Is there any way to upgrade it to SSD?
Maybe hook up an external thunderbolt SSD Drive? You can boot from it (even Windows) and put all your footage on there. Butt they are really expensive of course.
Why would you not get the 27 inch 5k?! This makes no sense.
+Josh Logan I'm guessing limited space?
Money?
+ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴇᴩᴛɪʟɪᴀɴ ʙʀᴏᴛʜᴇʀʜᴏᴏᴅ - HISSSSSS

He did. He reviewed it when it came out. Jonathan buys stuff to review.
He did. He reviewed it when it came out. Jonathan buys stuff to review.
great video as always!👏👌
Ok the 5200 rpm sucks.... What if I get the 5k imac, is the 7200rpm really any better than the 5200 in the 4k or do I have to upgrade on both of them?
That dock bounce scene deserves a like! :-D
how is the headphone jack optical? you mean auxiliary? optical is digital right?
Didn't the new fusion drives go to a significantly smaller SSD rather then a 128GB? So the fusion drive isn't nearly as good as it used to be?
Hi! Can I ask you if someone here knows something about the blinking screen with el capitan and retina? It happens to me running photoshop and other adobe's programmes... I'm desperate, adobe is imposible to talk with and appel says it's their fault...
i have a cheap computer g3258 270x
it has a 7200 rpm 3tb drive and it boots in 11 seconds til i can login
faster hard drive is needed for sure
Great review and conlusion thanx :)
I love your video ! I 'm getting a Macbook Air 13 -inch in 2015 but next year ! Keep it bisoux 😘😍❤️💘
Jonathan, Do you think we will see a new 27 inch monitor anytime soon? Thanks for the great videos.
Awesome editing!
Crispy footage and banging music
Is that captain america shield a reference to tony stark's office in iron man with the shield hidden as a easter egg?
Does it have output to a bigger screen? There's no HDMI
It seems like Apple is trying to get rid off the stock of 5400 RPM drives :D
Lol
+TekTick Yup, its like the iPad mini - a way to get read of old, outdated hardware.
TekTick I am from the future and I can tell your you’re wrong
Best review yet!

Is storage upgradeable with the ifix tool kit for the none 4k 2.8ghz iMac
can u PLLLLLLZZZZ reply when u buy a IMAC in best buy will u have to worry about something about it?
thanks for the info jonathan! love your honesty and the fact youre not afrais to ripp on her highness Apple.
btw loved the funky music!
xD that quick show of the stupid mouse charge position
+Rakesh Kumar :D
+Jonathan Morrison I'm glad that you are so active in the comments section, keep it up!
+Jonathan Morrison yeah dude, you are one of the few youtubers that responds comments. :]
About the Apple Magic Mouse, 2 minutes of charging will give you approximately 9 hours of use. I think that's more than fine.
@@TLD what's the refresh rate of the screen?
Is it a 16:10 screen?
If you're not going to be editing much and use it mostly as a daily driver for word, web browsing, movies, small amount of editing, is the fusion drive upgrade necessary?
Pretty Cool vid effects!
Any chance you would do an in depth review of the 27 inch 5k imac?
Thank you! Such a great review :) Really helpful.
Rose-Megan Tessier Should I get one ??
I saw this at the Apple Store and I think they could have made it a little bit better lol and this coming from a big apple fan
please Share the link of the template you used in this video
What was that outro song? Sounded so dope
you and your tech rocks
Love the vid bro!
Smashed CRISPY on that Like button!!
That mouse charging position! HAHAHAHA! Imma stick with my old magic mouse. :P
What game is that at 5:18
Dude you're awesome more than the awesomeness you were in the last video.
Hi Jonathan - Will you be reviewing the new 2015 27" iMac?
If I was an Apple Store employee, I would be ashamed to tell people that the iMac uses 5400RPM drive! WTF, Apple?
Can you do 27 inch 5k Mac?
should i get the 256gb or the 1tb fusion drive ?
I like you videos so much Jon! Could you do a video for the Nexus 5X & 6P?
HDD RPM doesn't independently affect transfer speed/performance.. its the amount of data that can be carried/transferred per revolution on the HDD. Apple uses the higher standard HDD 5400RPM that allows more data to be transferred per revolution, thus allowing faster transfers of more information per revolution.
Would you recommend the 16gbRAM with the 2TB fusion drive?
Also, what would be the better option with this... i5 or i7 ?
Reasonable review, thanks!
Apple needs to use ssds. I got a Samsung 850 evo recently, and I can never go back to a gard drive. the silence and speed of the ssd in unbelievable. My computer boots in less that a minute and is snappy af.
hey i got question i have a older mac 1.6.8 if i update to 1.7 would it delete my data before
5400rpm drive? Does it also have a 56k modem?
Can anyone tell me what is the difference between the 1TB Fusion Drive and the 256Gb Flash Storage? Which is better?
1TB fusion drive gives you 28GB of SSD storage (which has 5-6 times the read and write speed of the 5400RPM Hard Drive). SSD will help you in boot up time and opening the apps fast. But you can't really store anything much on the 28GB of SSD so it's better to get the 256GB SSD.
Can you please do a review on the Microsoft Surface Book!
Good review. What about going up to 2TB 128 GB Fast Flash drive for an extra $200?
Bezels are still too big.
tysm this was so helpful!
awesome!! I'll go check video blocks too!! Thanks!
What is the song played throughout the video?
Wouldn't editing off an external drive make it just as slow? Been wondering about this for a while.
Not if you get a fast USB 3.0 or thunderbolt external
+Jonathan Morrison Thanls for the tip. Gotta go shopping for a thunderbolt external drive.
+Jonathan Morrison Is there a usb3 or thunderbold external you'd recommend? Been looking at the lacie rugged.
I just bought the new 4K with the 5400rpm hard drive. I am not a programmer nor I am planning on editing a lots of 4K video but after watching your review, I am having second thought about the new iMac. should I keep it or should I take it back to best buy to upgrade to the 27inc 5K???
i smashed the like button so hard my hand broke.
that screen looks so good, from my screen!
I have this with the 1 tb fusion drive and it works great
Hey Jonathan, what frame rate do you record and render at?
Love your videos more then I love macs...;)
You should make a review of Razer Blade QHD+!
how did you play games /battlefield 4
