I don't know how Germans drink it. In neighboor country Holland I drink it like the Chinese (I suppose), straight, without milk... In England they drink it with milk.. and honesty when I was child my mother gave me tea with milk too cause my parents thouht that s good idea to adapt drinking of tea.
