Thanks you very much, I've always been a keen home baker and if the channel can help anyone eat better and cheaper I'm a happy man. Thanks for watching.
When I was a young chap I worked in a musterers camp on a remote station for a year. When I went back the next year, the camp cook had gone walkabout. As there was only two of us ringers from the previous year who knew the camp spots and because the other bloke was head stockman, I had to cook. Well at first I thought it was a humiliating and backwards step but I stepped up to the challenge and mastered scones every morning smoko in the camp oven. Well guess what....I soon became the most famous and revered bloke on the station ......and Im sure it was the bloody sultanas!
My wife's first professional job was as the chef in an old folks home. She can still knock up 80 scones in 40 minutes, in fact she can produce 40 portions of anything that can be eaten without teeth in no time at all.
I'm about to make these for my son's breakfast in the morning. They won't be piping hot, but they'll still be warm since I'll make them them at midnight, & he'll be waking at 5am to go to work. Thanks for a great, easy, scone recipe! This mom is grateful. ❤

Nice. Being an American Southern girl, I know how to make biscuits. I still firmly believe that scones are where we got biscuits from. Not cookies, as y'all call biscuits. Appalachian mins and the Blue Ridge, where I'm from, was settled by Brits, Irish,Scots,Welsh, and Germans. Biscuits are a staple food even now. But mad with buttermilk and shortening or lard. I love making scones. Taste far better than you buy in the supermarkets. I hand shape my mixed dough into a round about an inch thick, then cut into 8 sort of triangles. No waste. Brush milk on the top, works just as well as egg, and bake. From start to finish 20 mins at most.
Thanks for mentioning milk to brush on for browning. I used to bake pies using it, and I won't sacrifice an egg, not having hens. Peace and Blessings 😊
I like to use cream for brushing the tops of pastry and scones, gives a lovely gloss and you can get plenty on your brush from an 'empty' cream carton.
Hi, I’m a new subscriber and with the cost of things today anything that can be made on a budget is right up my alley! Thank you for reminding me of this recipe, the only difference between yours and the one my mom used to make …she would use buttermilk but most of the time when she didn’t have it on hand she would add a splash of white vinegar to the milk and let it sit until it began to separate and it would make for a delicious biscuit. I’m not sure if she also used baking soda and the vinegar would have also had a chemical reaction with the baking soda to help them rise more? I can remember the delicious flavour and how incredibly soft they were. We used to slice ours in half and butter them and then turn the butter side into a hot fry pan and toasted them until golden and then removed and added more butter and then strawberry jam. Yummy! I’m from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. ❤️🥰🇨🇦🙏🏻🍁
Oh my goodness, I've had to come back to your channel this evening to say l made a batch of scones after our roast dinner today. They were the best ever and shall be using your recipe from now on. Thank you so much.

You've not listed rum in the ingredients list, but in the method. I sometimes steep the fruit in alcohol before I add to scones. Your scones look good. Thank you.

I used your recipe for my first time ever Baking scones, they turned out beautifully ❤ thank you for sharing its much appreciated. Hello from Scotland x
These scones look great. I grew up on a farm in New Zealand and my mother made scones all the time. I carried on the family tradition and now the third generation are making scones the same way and the fourth generation is showing an interest. We particularly like cheese scones - just add grated tasty cheese. I learnt to rub the flour and butter together in the way shown on the video but now I do it in the food processor. It takes only seconds. We cut the milk in with a table knife to prevent over mixing. One final thing - our scones are always square - quick and easy and no extra working of the dough.

Hi, Hope you scones turn out great. Thanks for watching
You can alternately use a wash of just yolk and cream..it's quite nice. Thanks for your video
Yes that would work well and give a nice browned top. Thanks for watching
Nice n love it❤❤❤❤
Many thanks.
Well done They look great. I paid €2.90 today for a scone. I do bake my own and freeze them but I am not sure if I save much as electricity has gone up so much. Do you ever use buttermilk?
Even with the electricity I'm sure you would still save money. I've not tried buttermilk but I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for watching
