Cody will be remembered forever for making an absolute magnificent job as Cloud Strife. This entire project is made with so much love and passion for FF7... I feel so lucky to be alive and being able to experience this moment in my life to see my favorite game of all time in this shape and form at last. As an OG FF7 fan this is a dream come true...

I love how proud he is of playing Cloud. He’s not a small actor, he’s got millions of followers on Instagram but he doesn’t do the whole “embarrassed to be in a video game” shtick so many big actors do. He always just talks about how happy he is to play the character and how much he wants to make the fans proud
Cody Christian deserves an award for his portrayal of Cloud. He has to voice so many different nuances of Cloud i.e. young Cloud, unhinged Cloud, stoic Cloud, normal Cloud etc. His voice is so natural and suits Cloud's character so much. I love Cloud and love Cody for bringing my favourite pretty boy to life!
I loved Cody’s performance! He absolutely nailed cloud
Cody’s performance is, to my mind, the definitive portrayal of Cloud, and that’s entirely because it’s a group effort.
It’s a shame that the old cast didn’t have the same sort of level of care when it came to localization, because I truly believe it could have been just as amazing… but looking back on it now, Steve stumbled so Cody could fly, and I’ll forever be grateful to all the earlier cast for bringing our favourite characters to life the first time around.
Now, we’re getting spoiled with how amazing it has turned out, and I can’t wait to see this saga concluded.
One line that stuck with me is how Cloud says “Fine” when hesitantly agrees to help with another tesious side quest
The FF7 Remake voice director is phenomenal! Give that man a raise and anything he wants to keep working with Square.
Anyone who criticizes Cody's performance doesn't know what good voice acting is. He and the rest of the cast set the bar even higher with Rebirth, which is so crazy when they were already great in Remake. I can't wait to hear them in Part 3! Especially Cody's take on "normal" Cloud!
When I first heard his voice I was like sorry Steve Burton huge respect for U giving cloud first voice.. but Cody to me is cloud he is excellent he perfect
He had a nice voice but way too deep and mature for a early 20s pretty boy like Cloud, his new voice is perfect.
At the panel he said he had to speak in a different language, and he is actually referring to the Mog Talk. At first I thought he was referring to the Loveless musical and others thought it was the Frog mini-game.
1:32 He's already so in tune with Cloud's character, pretending to be a professional as he claims. He was *perfect* for the role of Cloud Strife.
Not only is Cody a remarkable, meticulous, hard working actor who gave Cloud a soul he seems like an amazing person and HOT. Such a heart throb 😅
When I first heard that Burton wasn't going to voice Cloud, I was very resistant to the new VAs. As time went on, however, I realized that Cody and the rest of them were nailing it! I won't lie. I would love to hear Steve Burton given the chance to voice some Cloud lines without being restricted to a monotone, just to see where he would take it.
The only VA I didn't like was Zack's. He had a semi-whiny characteristic that grated on my nerves. In Rebirth, though, he seemed to really polish it up. It wasn't Rick Gomez level, but he managed to remove 95% of the whine that was so grating to me.
Right next to Sephiroth, Cloud Strife is the most difficult FFVII character to convincingly portray. This kid (I call him that, even though I’m just a year older than him lol) totally nailed this role. In those scenes where Cloud was really slipping away (smashing the wall to get the black materia, almost killing Elena, stalking Aerith, etc.) he managed to sound genuinely terrifying and creepy, when it could have just as easily come off as comical.
People had their doubts about him stepping into Burton’s shoes, but now, those same people absolutely love him (or even prefer him) as Cloud. I’m really hoping that he can have a long voice acting career, and not get type-cast as “that guy who played Cloud Strife.”

I didn't know Kirk Thornton was the voice acting director. That explains a lot. He's one of the best English speaking anime voice actors of all time, and he really gets the material.
And yes, Cody is amazing as Cloud. Honestly, I don't like what they did to the story in this sequel trilogy, but the characterization was freaking stellar. And the voice acting is more than up to the task.

I think Cody made an amazing job, like all the other actors... but the one that is never talked about, or at least i have never heard nothing abour is Tyler Hoechlin... i mean he is Sephirot!! And i have never seen an interview or something where he talks about his work in final fantasy... so... does that exist???
He was pretty busy this year filming the last season of Superman and Lois that's why he couldn't make it to stuff, but i also think it's intentional,there's a lot of mystery around Sephiroth we don't even know what his endgame is, i think they're saving all the interviews with him for part 3 which in my opinion is pretty cool. Makes him as cool and mysterious as Sephiroth.
I agree with you, 100%! He killed it! His portrayal of Sephiroth was part of what really helped sell me on all of the new stuff in the Nibelbeim incident.
Low key, they did an amazing job on the Nibelheim Incident, by the way. You really got a feel for just how terrifying and devastating that it was. What really got me was hearing how scared that all of the people were when they realized that someone they had idolized their whole lives had gone insane and was trying to kill them.

The game needed to give him more monologues, there were a few moments that could’ve had it at the forgotten capital, but they dropped the ball

@@gman24310 yeah, that’s a long wait from now. Rebirth could’ve teased his collapse into insanity a bit more with a solid monologue moment. Instead there were just awkward grunts and sighs smh
Do you know if there are any interviews with the japanese cast? I do not care much for the dub, but would love to know what the original voices have to say.
Cody's been fantastic but I critique his battle cries. Cloud doesn't roar, he grunts.

Ever wonder why sometimes the music is louder than the dialogue and washes it out a bit? I think maybe they do it on purpose to cover up that it wasn’t a perfect voice take.

That game is strange... in the cutscenes Cloud is always so cool, dodges bullets, defeats enemies with ease and stuff, but as soon as I'm in control, the mistimes his blocks and dodges and get's his ass beaten up! :O JK, xD I play on German so I don't know very much about the English voices, but It's still interesting to hear about stuff like that. From my point of view (or hearing ^^), the German dub is also very good, I really enjoy it. ^^

he plays cloud in badly written games and movies so it’s not that I don’t like Steve I just think his voice acting is straight ass because of the voice direction.
His pizza line in first part sucked . He does sometimes sound soulless. Aertith voice feels alot a times flat other then that their doing great😊
