    As an OG FFVII fan I never found the ending particularly moving, more confusing and disappointing than anything else. All we got after Meteor was destroyed was a flash forward to 500 years later and everyone but Red XIII and his clan was wiped out. Uh, yay? Totally worth the 50+ hours spent. Then as far as sequels all we got was Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus. 'Nuff said really. I was ECSTATIC when Remake introduced the concept of changing fate just for an ending that does justice to the world of FFVII and all its characters.

      The original ending was moving solely for how it showed Aerith's image, at the end.
      It was a nod to the scene at the game's opening, where Aerith watched mako leaking from a pipe.
      In the ending, the callback to that scene implied that Aerith's prayer had succeeded and that she, Holy, and the Lifestream were successful in stopping Meteor. It's implied that most or all of humankind was wiped out, but at least the Planet and not all creatures were totally destroyed.
      It indicated that Aerith's death was a sacrifice and one that was not done in vain. The one major question that was open-ended was whether or not she had any idea that she would die, as a result of her efforts to stop Sephiroth.
      From the context in Rebirth, it feels like she DID know that she would ultimately die, at least somewhere along this journey. Again, it's not outright stated, but there are hints.

      I see your point but I truly loved the ending back then. It felt bittersweet and left us wondering, but at the
      same time told us all we needed to know. It was obvious that Meteor was stopped because Midgar’s structure was still more or less standing, albeit forsaken. When Advent Children came out it started to feel a little bit weird for me…

      We got a problem now. They'll have to go 500 years later and show us optimism. Made 'Aeris' Green Energy company booming would great !!!
      Or even the Maycomb Bloom Co. would be nice.

      The ending wasn't satisfying to me either. There was so much that was left to the imagination which the compilation gave more context and an expansion but definitely not a tying of all loose ends. Also the rumor for many years that Aeris could be revived also didn't help. Advent Children gave it a bit more of a bittersweet ending, I do like how realistic they made the story because dealing with survivors guilt and remorse was a very powerful theme. Dirge of Cerebus was more or less an extension to Vincent's and Yuffie's story in a sense as they were the optional characters-- the ending with Genesis survival never got resolved so I would love to see that resolved.

    The developers specifically said that the trilogy “ties to” Advent Children. Tying to something doesn’t mean linking or leading to so that’s not where this is going, I’m seeing a lot of ppl get this wrong. We already saw how this story ties to AC in part 1 when we fought the sephiroth variants in their whisper forms. Advent Children is done here.

      @@loregasmic You do know Nomura came up with the concept of the story together with FF creator Hironobu Sakaguchi? I think he would know the story more than any of us. Look in the FF7 Prelude intro in the original game when you pop in the game and let it play on its own it will show those credits and near the end it shows his name with Sakaguchi. I'm just saying this to remind people why he does what he does and pissing us off with the way it's been going in the remakes.

      @theonecalledlamorak6446 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @NAzo.
      I actually like where the remakes are going, but only if they end on their own merit. I was never interested in a faithful remake because I feel like the OG is perfect the way it is so if we’re going to come back to this world I’d be down for something different, but that’s only if they commit to it and have some guts.
      I’m totally down for the big reveal of this being a sequel and this is all happening many years after the events of the OG and the planet has recreated timelines to try and weed out Sephiroth from the lifestream. I know there’s some ppl who wouldn’t want that but it would make me happy personally.

  • @ff789n10
    @ff789n10 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    Sephiroth is gonna get some kind of redemption at the very, very end, I'm calling it. No, he will not become the hero. He will attempt to carry out his nefarious plans until the very last second, until our heroes manage to talk him down to surrender, after many grueling battles, the near end of the world and final boss. It's the only way I see full closure

    This game is about NOT having a happy ending. About it being grounded in reality. That's the beauty of it.

    the theme of cherishing every moment and everything in your life has been a theme repeated theme since advent children.
    i honestly think theyll tie it to how many moments we cherish in the OG ff7 and how we all relived it in the remakes and thus the remakes wil be self validating. (but this ties into my own theorycrafting on how the remake continuity fit into the OG continuity)

    I don’t know how they could wrap all of it in one game. With the end of rebirth, we are nearly at a third of the OG, and this is without counting the deep ground stuff…
    Sometimes I wish they add a fourth game to finish it as well as they expand the first part of the story.

    • @TravaillesDuChanson
      @TravaillesDuChanson 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I agree 100%
      They cut a chapter of Tifa's adventure and investigation into Don Corneo, that could have been a nice short fun chapter adventure for Tifa and just to give it some icing on the cake, they could have made Jessie a support character helping Tifa in secret perhaps even in battle as well like Sonon was for Yuffie.
      They could have also made Biggs and Wedge minor playable characters and opened up the Sector 8 Slums with a variety of side quests and optional story and also allowed for Cloud to return to the plate even. I really wanted to see Tifa and Aerith go shopping on the plate incognito, that would have been fun even if it would have been a small optional minor mini chatper where the objective is to have fun and while up there they could get access to the EVER CRISIS outfits by buying them. They could spread out the outfits through the trilogy in optional fun chapters.
      I had originally thought it was going to be 4 parts if they plan on addressing everything in the compilation. Technically they still can. If the appetite for part 3 goes well, then they could theoretically do a sequel that does so.

    • @thatstheway2429
      @thatstheway2429 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I think the first half of part 3 is going to be a more linear, blitzkrieg type of story.
      It really doesn’t make sense to have the open world stuff while Cloud is fucked in the head and until they get the Highwind.
      So I think we’re going to get A LOT more story in part 3 than part 2 (and I mean Sephiroth, Jenova, Shinra, Wutai plot, not the more character specific stuff we have in part 2).
      The tone of the game would be so weird to be herding chickens again while the entire party is mourning Aerith’s death and hyper concerned about wtf is wrong with Cloud.

    All I know is that third game better be jaw dropping all the time, we got too little story in rebirth, and it leaked into the ever crisis mobile game, which was a huge mistake imo, they need to go all out in that third game and not hold back at all.

    • @thatstheway2429
      @thatstheway2429 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think it will.
      Rebirth was for world building and character building.
      I basically see things as:
      - Remake: let’s figure out the battle system
      - Rebirth: let’s figure out the world and characters
      - Part 3: ok now you love the world and the characters. Jenova and Sephiroth are trying to destroy it, so you’re going to care.
      Remember, disc 2 in the OG is where the majority of the plot points occur. Shit gets absolutely crazy after the Forgotten Capital.
      Northern Crater itself has more plot points alone than most of the game leading up to it.
      Throw on escape from Junon, Huge Materia, raid on Midgar, Lifestream sequence, Rocket town, and now they’re hinting that there’s going to be a huge Wutai storyline. I think you’re gonna get exactly what you ask for. Vincent’s optional storyline in the OG will also likely be main story considering how tied he is to Sephiroth.
      Not to mention, the side quests are going to be epic. Weapons. Getting everyone’s ultimate weapons. Some crazy chocobo breeding shit. There’s the queens blood stuff coming back somehow. And I would imagine Gilgamesh returns in some capacity.

    Regarding the Kitase comment of part 3 leading into Advent Children; nobody said that the third and final part could only have 1 ending. As the conclusion to the trilogy, it's well within the realm of possibility to have alternate endings. Considering all of the differences from the OG, the plot might even encompass a timeloop with the OG ending leading into Advent Children which leaves Cloud with all of his (re)grets which are carried back to the beginning of Remake. Since Advent Children leads to Sephiroth reappearing, then logically, a "golden" OG ending where he's finished off for good is impossible and beg the question as to why retell the game with the promise of "defying fate"? If the series to going to conclude for good, there has to be an alternate ending that wraps up all the extended universe materials.

      I agree with you - those were my thoughts, too.
      During the end-of-the-world date, I also think there was more alluded to than what was said.
      When Cloud and Aerith leave her house, she tells Cloud not to look up because he won't like what he sees. Cloud replies that now he HAS to look and Aerith sarcastically says something along the lines of "Me and my big mouth!" I suspect that Aerith was actually telling him not to look up because she KNEW that now Cloud would, in the other world/timeline, when Sephiroth was supposed to kill her. My instincts are telling me that this line was intentional and coming from more of an all-knowing Aerith.
      One other thought - at the end of the game, when Cloud and Aerith stand back to back as her image slowly fades, I couldn't get over how much the fading Aerith looks like PS1 (in-battle character sprite) Aerith, in those final seconds. Coincidental, or is this a nod to which version of Aerith (or whatever you want to call it) we are seeing?

    I would love nothing more than for the AC portion of the timeline to be averted in this reboot.
    Although unfortunately statements made previously up until now have indicated otherwise.
    This could simply mean that AC will also get a reboot that connects to this continuity and that won't be nearly as bad or dystopian. (If so hopefully they'll handle cloud and Tifa better).
    But of course even with all that said it's not as if . They could have just been saying that to not give away the ending, or they could be changing their minds as they're making part 3. I don't think either of those is likely but it's possible.
    At the end of the day I at least hope it's true, or at least the AC will be remade in a better way than it originally was. Because its original form was absolutely horrible.

    If Nomura really wants to tie the loose ends he has to also do so for all the characters in the compilation, including Dirge of Cerebus, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and all the novels. I just don't see how he does it all in part 3 without making it much bigger than rebirth. If we get no DLCs for Rebirth which so far they have said no plans, I would imagine they would do so for part 3.
    They need to resolves the story arcs for:
    - Genesis & Angeal
    - Elfe & Verdot
    - All the player Turks (11 of them) and the Turks themselves
    - Rufus Shinra along with his little brother Evan from the Kid's are Alright (and Leslie & Kyrie)
    - All the Tsviets, Nero, Weiss, Rosso, Azul, Shelke, Argento, Pummel, and Usher.
    - Glenn, Lucia, and Matt whom were mentioned and what if Glenn turns out to be Cloud's father?
    - Denzel
    - Minvera and LOVELESS
    - Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz
    - Lazard and any other siblings Rufus may have had.
    I think we will get a Dirge of Cerebus remaster like Crisis Core got. It would be nice if they remade Before Crisis, that game desperately needs a remake. I don't see them ending this series like this. Ever Crisis will be around for the forseeable future as we have seen Young Angeal with Sephiroth... what new elements will they introduce into the compilation. FF VII has become a saga and as long as there is an appetite for it, it will continue someway somehow. Nomura had said he hopes the series continues on after the trilogy.
    Personally I think Aerith and Zack will live on in another world... so the ending will be bittersweet for all the characters to say good bye to both Aerith and Zack as they go and finish living their lives out in another world. What I would really like is for Minerva to step in and allow Aerith and Zack to live in the main world and give them that happy ending they deserve.

I happen to be part of the latter. Even if she still becomes part of the Lifestream with Zack at the end of Part 3, it would be nice to get closure for all of the characters with one last goodbye between all of them.
