- Square Enix brought the English voice actors of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to New York Comic Con! Hosted by Matt Mercer (Critical Role, Attack on Titan), the panel featured Cody Christian (Cloud Strife), John Eric Bentley (Barret Wallace), Britt Baron (Tifa Lockhart), Max Mittelman (Red XIII) and Suzie Yeung (Yuffie Kisaragi). The cast spoke about their experience with Final Fantasy, auditioning for the game, their careers as voice actors, and YES, they DID react to Red XIII riding a Chocobo and Cloud cruising on a segway. The cast was also joined by a very special guest! 👀

Cody Christian's voice is so soothing.
I'm impressed that Max Mittelman does Red as he sounds nothing like him.

Yup, I feel the same lol. Everyone else you can hear the similarities in their voices, but not him.
Max as Red will always confuse me. Like I know it’s him but my brain can’t reconcile that. I always expect to hear Ryuji or Plagg or something not that voice.

Britt's voice is the best thing to happen to tifa. It matches so well. I played the OG Ff7 after remake and i swear i can only hear her voice. She's the best English voice for tifa till date.
I hope that one day we'll see that video of Matt reacting to getting to play Vincent lol. I want to see the look on his face as Vincent pops up on that screen and he starts freaking out.

I love how they tried to fool us about Matt not being Vincent by making him the host, kind of like how they fooled him into believing he wasn’t booked for the job, and pranked him… but none of us were having it 😂
Let’s take a moment to appreciate how all of them (except for Max 😂) all wore color coordinated outfits that matches well their characters. ❤

It still gets me lmao. Mf Theo ended up being Cloud Strife so cool
I didn’t realize it until the scene where cloud is chasing aerith and calling her name, I went wait a minute I recognize that menacing cadence
After some research, it still blew my mind that this is the same guy who did the role for Asher Adams from All American.

Suzie made me cry at the end of the FF7R DLC, for that reason alone she’s my favorite

I really love that Matt Mercer got Steve Blum's blessing. And hey, if Steve approves, and this is one of Matt's dream roles, I have no reason to doubt his performance as Vincent Valentine.
He also was Gamondorf in Tears Of The Kingdom which he did an amazing job with so I know he'll do an amazing job as Vincent.
Suzie is sooo precious!! And so incredibly talented. She pulls off being both Yuffie AND Makima -such DIFFERNET characters, so so well.
Loved Cody Christian, he's a stud and love his voice acting, he does a great Cloud!

Honestly the only other actors I’d have been happy with as Vincent would’ve been Liam O’Brien or Crispin Freeman so Matt is a great choice
Seeing how Crispin Freeman voiced Alucard from Hellsing, he would’ve been my immediate second choice.
Not Crispin Freeman, he does so many background characters with the same voice he is completely immersion-breaking at this point.

Max Mittelman is a treasure!!! His personality and his love for the franchise is what makes his characterization so wonderful. I know alot of audiences are hesitant to embrace a Young/Old RedXIII voice dual role. But its part of his backstory. I know the rough and tumble voice from Remake was what we expected but they delve deeper into it in Rebirth. Plus Max is just a joy, his voice is amazing!!!!
from the moment i heard Vincent's voice in the ff7 rebirth trailer, i totally called that Matthew mercer was gonna voice the character, of course if mercer is playing vincent in the ff7 remake trilogy then square should cast marisha ray as luceria.
Ayo Suzie Yeung's favorite FF game is FFX! It's my first FF game ever played as well. Brings back memories!

FF8 is fantastic too!!! To have it mentioned. The soundtrack for 8 was my childhood. Once I played FF7, I fell in love with the music immediately. One Winged Angel perfectly speaks to Sephiroth. It’s a scary freaking song and it works so well. Love the Final Fantasy series as I’ve played more titles over the years. To see such a fantastic classic be remastered beautifully has been so awesome! ❤❤Can’t wait for Rebirth!! Counting the minutes lol
8:20 John's story about his professors getting jealous that he booked an acting job in college really irks me. It seems like it's the bitter failures that end up being acting teachers who take it out on their students. No wonder so many people quit acting. Giant egos and narcissism surrounds you in that field

FF8 was a very serious entry with an amazing cast of characters, villains, and theme of tying past to present. It was an awesome game :) oh yeah and the music was cozy af

What does Max mean when he says he never had a PlayStation so couldn't play FF7, but his favourite is FF8? They were both on the PS1. I'm assuming he's getting FF8 mixed up with a different Final Fantasy?
FF8 was also on PC
So was FF7, but maybe the port was way worse.
Maybe Max wasnt tech/game savvy back then, who knows.
Took me two weeks to realize I gotta check compatibility mode on Prince of Persia Two Thrones on Steam for the current windows. Happens to all of us.

The one guy talking about FF8 makes no sense. 1: VIII and VII are both on the PS1, and 2: the FF8 disc does not play music in a cd player. So he was just trying to look cool. Its okay to admit that youre not a fan of something
Much like myself, growing up he didn't have a ps1. Most likely played it later on ps2 or 3. I did the same thing. As for listening to music, you could buy cd soundtracks of the games, or they would come as a collector option. I'm 34, and google says max is 33, so the timeline fits lol

Why do you feel the need to be so negative about actors pouring their heart into something we all love?
I remember as a kid being like "I wonder what would happen if we put the game disc in the stereo?" and being pleasantly surprised that it had like 30-something musical tracks on it.
i bought both of them on pc back then.... It wasn't like now, especially for pc. Once they game wasn't stocked at stores, you couldn't find it to play it. And unlike consoles. A lot of game stores didn't carry used pc games. Internet was really slow back then and lots of kids didn't really have it (to steal). I begged my parents to go to like 10 different stores and waste a whole day to find final fantasy vii, after I loved final fantasy 8. If my parents didn't give into my begging, i wouldn't have been able to play it either. I'm 35, he's younger then me, so it would have been even harder for him to find it.
