    The 4-7-8 breathing technique and practise is an amazing breath work or pranayama practise for overcoming stress and anxiety. This breathing technique is also great for getting to sleep. In this 4 7 8 breathing tutorial and practise, we inhale through the nose for a count of 4, retain and hold the breath for a count of 7 and then exhale slowly through the mouth for a count of 8. This breathing technique can be done in cycles of 4, twice and day and is very effective.
    I hope you enjoy this 4-7-8 breathing practise and if you have any requests on yoga practises, breath work, meditations or yoga tutorials you’d like to see, please drop me a comment below :)

    Thanks for putting this up.
    Just wondering, why is it important to only do one cycle of four and no more?

    • @WellWithHels
      @WellWithHels  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Leigh, this was the way I was taught, but forgot to ask that question 😅 My guess is that, because it's quite an intense technique, could make you feel light headed if over done. I will have a bit of a research and see what I can find though! x

    • @WellWithHels
      @WellWithHels  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh! First thing I found was: It's safe to do more, but if just starting out, 4 cycles is enough to feel the benefits. I guess you can build it up, or if you practise breath work regularly, you could do more cycles x

    As you are actually thinking. . . get up, wash the car at the car wash, go to the grocery store. (PRESS MY LIPS TOGETHER) .almonds, coffee, trash bags. . .something else. . . hmmm, what was it? (4...5...6, DAMN, I DIDN'T MAKE IT TO 8!) make kids birthday cupcakes and take to school, stop by the bank, buy stamps at post office. . . . I wonder how much a stamp is? 28 cents. .maybe over 30 cents? (CRAP, I'M DYING, WHO CAN HOLD THEIR BREATH THAT LONG!!) oh wait, I forgot to pick up the dry cleaning. . . I hope they got that stain out. Wine, I'm out of wine, maybe Jacob's liquor has a sale this week like I think they said was coming. (EXCUSE ME, I FARTED) Erin skinned her knee. . . damn, I forgot band-aids on my list. (9, 10, 11. .THAT'S TOO LONG) . Hopefully Janice will let her skip P.E. class today, she needs to study for the S.A.T. next month. . Did Amazon deliver that book? (1...2...3...4...) Cable bill is almost past due. . . I hope I can get out of Jury duty. . . (FUK. . . I'M NEVER GOING TO FALL ASLEEP). . . Maybe I will take a Benadryl a half hour before bedtime tomorrow night. . . with Wine :)

    Between evey round we can take a break for few seconds or after completing one 478 exercise...immediately we have to start second cycle and then third and then fourth without any break in between

    • @WellWithHels
      @WellWithHels  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can do it without a break in between, BUT if you feel dizzy or light headed, take a break / slow down / or stop :)

    Hi I'd like to know if you can exhale through your noise and get the same effects I see other videos doing it that way ,and how should you exhale forcefully for the 8 seconds or it doesn't matter as long as it's the 8 seconds, I I'm just trying to find something to help my anxiety and make me fall asleep easier , I've been dealing with anxiety for a year and 2 months now and it's overwhelming at times .it's put a pause on my dreams and relationships my whole life. sometimes I feel like just ending my life but I don't wanna die... somebody might see this comment and laugh or think I'm crazy.i just feel some happiness again ..I hope nobody that knows me see this comment 😁 I asked you about 478 end up writing a paragraph

    • @WellWithHels
      @WellWithHels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey, thank you so much for sharing and I try and make this a safe space for everyone ,so you're not crazy :) I think the technique works the same out of the nose or mouth (I personally find exhaling through the mouth more relaxing). You might like to try this Sleep Breath technique: th-cam.com/video/udRRDayhXH8/w-d-xo.html I really, really hope it helps you and sending you lots of love xxx

    Maximum only 4 roundswe have to do or we can do more also in one go

    • @WellWithHels
      @WellWithHels  ปีที่แล้ว

      I learnt that 4 is good to do in one go when you start this.... *I believe* you can build up to more, but you'd have to do a little research :)

  • @mohammadanadani7898

    how come I would never wanna do more than 4 cycles?

    • @WellWithHels
      @WellWithHels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe you can build it up to more, however you can get light headed... Maybe there's some more scientific explanation also, but I'm not sure :)

    Sorry to tell you. Is this the exact way? Let me tell you the eastern way which is much better.
    The first concept we find from the Gita is lifeforce is given by God, and so is the breath. You must pray before you do this excellent breath exercise and say to God I am dedicating my breath and the life force to You. Therefore you can't drink and eat meat and fish. Unless you remain pure, you shouldnot dedicate your life force and breath to God.
    The second is the exercise. When you count 4 sniff and push up a bit and tighten your muladhar, the lower part. Then count 7 by holding your breath and release by counting 8.
    The third principle is awareness. You do the exercise and do it with awareness. The fourth is twice a day, but try to do it for 10 minutes.
    This is the earnest concept which I consider the to be the highest

    • @WellWithHels
      @WellWithHels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! I'd say this is more for calming the mind/body before sleep and not necessarily to fall asleep. This sleep breath technique might help though :) th-cam.com/video/udRRDayhXH8/w-d-xo.html xx
