One, you've got CX birds in the vid and they are not PWR chickens. Two, no, white chickens are not more prone to predation....in the past 47 yrs of free ranging with white birds in the flock, not a single one was taken by an aerial pred. Raptors prefer prey that are more like their natural prey and will choose a barred bird over a white one every time. Raptors don't need a white bird to make them more visible, as their eye sight is impeccable, and they spot the movement of patterned birds much better. If you are going to do a vid on educating people on these breeds, you may want to actually have facts in the video instead of speculation. You didn't mention the PWR's superior feed conversion, their double muscled breasts nor the marbling of fat in their meat.

I wish you'd touched on differences between white rocks and barred rocks, if any, besides camouflage. I believe the white rock has a more standard skin at processing (I've never kept them -- my rocks are barred), for example. Are there any differences in temperament, particularly between roosters of the two varieties? Why would you free range a white chicken if they are more vulnerable to raptors? Thanks!

They aren't. I've free ranged for 47 yrs now with plenty of white chickens in the flock and have never had one taken by an aerial predator. This man doesn't know a thing about chickens. Aerial predators prefer prey that is patterned like their normal prey, so my barred birds have been the only ones picked off by predators.

@@prayerangel1 Well, though we have plenty of hawks, we've only ever lost birds to weasels, at night -- it's hard to keep them out of the coop. But then again, they seem to prefer the "sitting" ducks.
