shocked me to the core, a masterfully done episode, for me after this series went down and down with ever season
@@NostalgicMem0riesso masterful. We was on the journey with Dexter and Rita. The whole episode his scenes with Rita they was building up to this warm feeling getaway and the possibility of him being regular with his family and than just like that she was in the tub dead. The music the lines everything was just masterful and that’s why it gets me every time.
Had been waiting for their reactions to Rita’s death. I was spoiled before ever watching the show and it still hit me hard. And watching it now has me emotional. And imagining how that scene went and how horrific and terrifying it was for such a wonderful woman to go through...glad they didn’t show it.
Dexter let him live few times and his obsession cost him in the end. He was starting to feel human, it was distracting to his need, and feeling strongly for Rita , Fam dynamic, the shoe dropped and dream came crashing.
I don't even want to think about Rita's last moments with Trinity. I can't handle it mentally or emotionally.

@@Humanipathic i was spoiled as well. stupid good. i was just typing for dexter, and some how it showed rita death article in the search lists lol. but when i started watching the show, i kinda knew that at some point she is going to die. My prediction was she is gonna die by killing herself after finding out dexters truth.
but i never excepted her to die like this. this was a sick ending.

Oh man, watching Shane trying to keep it together leading up to the discovery of Rita was amazing. This episode is soooooooooooo good. Tragic, but good.
I'm not even following this series reaction, but I saw this was posted and clicked. Anyone who has seen this episode knows how memorable it is, even 10 years later.
I watched S4 first (idk why) and it only took this one season to get me attached to Rita just to have her ripped away. Then when i started from the beginning, it got sadder and sadder just seeing Rita and knowing what’s gonna happen

I still can’t believe what happened. Years later it’ still upsets me. Rita was definitely my favorite character at this point.

I disagree. I like the next season far more than this one. The ending felt cheap and tacked on while the next season feels more ccohesive. The season after that is about as good as this one. After that, though... meh.

Well, if you ask me, it's all downhill from here. I actually quite like season 5, more than most people, but other than that... yeah. I don't think you should stop watching, but maybe lower your expectations a bit.
I vividly recall this being like the first time I started sobbing over a fictional character death. ;(

Man, what a gut punch to punctuate an amazing season of television. Such a shame this show was cancelled after such a great cliffhanger, but at least it didn’t have to miserably limp on four more seasons to an embarrassingly terrible ending...

This episode is the only reason I finished all seasons. I needed some type of closure after investing so many emotions into this show. That being said, the last season was unbelievably bad. Im not a GOT fan, and Im not really planning to watch it, but for those who watched GOT and Dexters final season, which one is the biggest let down?
Dexter, not even close. GOT wasn't good, but it's not as horrible as people make it out to be. Dexter's last season was just so bad...
game of thrones was way worse... they set the bar so high where dexter had been on the decline since this episode, and even though the finale of dexter was hilariously bad, it simply cant compare to how rushed and lazy the writing of the last season of game of thrones, they literally betrayed the character of EACH character in one episode... i wish i was exaggerating
@@bluepersreel honestly, game of thrones has been worse and worse since season 4 as well, season 6 was all fan service and it was horrible. people just hyped it up too much. just like they hate on the finale too much. I think it's herd mentality. But, you know, opinions...
Yigal Diker while i do agree that season 4 was the best season i still think season 6 was really good, yeah there was “fan service” but it wasn’t just for the hell of it, it was well earned, it was the payoff and the start of the comeback for alot of these characters that have been suffering for the entire season up to that point, most of season 5 was bad and season 7 is less excusable because of season 8 but i still don’t think dexter even comes close to as bad
@@bluepersreel The problem I have with season 6, is yes, it has a lot of payoff. from earlier seasons. anything good from season 6 is paying off things set in earlier seasons. it added nothing new that is any good. It didn't set up payoffs for the later seasons..and started the fall of GOT in my opinion.

TBH Dexter fucked up. If he knew a serial killer had his identity (and a reason to be mad) he should have called Rita and said: "Go take the kids and get a hotel NOW until further notice."
I mean, he works with a homicide team, so he could have given a plausible explanation to Rita about some bad guy who might be coming to get them.

Everything after this season's ending was such a blur. I was desperately looking for something good to hang on to, right through the next 4 seasons; and then the show ended the way it did. This show broke me.

of course that actor who played the serial killer was great i loved him so much.. even the ending that last scene was good for me unlike many others.
Stardust ahh interesting, I don’t remember the killer being... well, remember able, the ending scene i thought was a bit ridiculous but hey im glad someone liked it, im surprised you liked 8 but not 7, i thought the antagonist from 7 was fairly compelling at the least and the bombshell ending on that one and jennifer carpenter’s performance especially in that last scene was possibly the best on the show

This was the episode I needed to continue through the show on my first watch through. I hated Rita’s character, and was getting bored/annoyed with the show, and this episode revitalized it for me.

No way. It only gets better until the second half of season 8.
Why..? The next season is arguably better than this one. The ending to this season was cheap and tacked on just for one last "shock".

1. There are lots of things people do subconsciously without intending or even realizing they are doing it.
2. You can't claim to know anything about what they were thinking, if they even noticed to begin with.

Honestly I hated this season's ending. Just feels cheap and tacked on. People are all saying how shocking and sad it was, I was just irritated. Felt like bad writing. I like the next season way more. It is a nice change of pace from the previous seasons.

Stop watching the series. It goes down hill from now. Just imagine dex goes to jail after this ep. Deb gets the kids and hooks up with quin.
I use to actually hope that how the show was going to end. That Dexter would either sacrifice himself for his kids or a Debra and Debra and Quinn gets the kids and it ends like that. There’s so many ways the could’ve done it though.
