I alway loved how Jay-Z's albums sounded so sonic balanced... I wish Tony did a mastering class or a technic breakdown of how he masters... he is one of the few engineers that dont "brick wall" a mix
PSA has to be one of the hardest hitting instrumentals of the album, if not, THE hardest hitting. JustBlaze wasn't playing on that one. Alot of beats were excellent, but PSA was on it's own.
hahaha the smile that spreads across jay's face at 1:34 when crazy bitch storms back in the room is priceless. you can tell he's just loving all of it.
I agree, because the first time I listened to Black Album, Brush Your Shoulders Off and Public Service Announcement were both distorted, the Justify my Thug was as well...and this was the CD...same thing with Beanie Sigel's - the Reason...a few tracks on there were not mastered well...songs were great but there was some distortion.
Its not distorted.. really, but a lot of hiphop rap music is purposely loud..louder than , other genres of music would allow.....The wave forms seem to clip other programs besides protools.. but infact the ear of the producer and engineer like it to be loud and a little clipped.. on purpose...hiphop gets its heavy bass loud showroom style loudness from that kind of audio opinion..
PSA is definitely one of the most hardest and tightest beats ever created, JB definitely needs his flowers
I never knew this existed until Guru just posted about it

Tony Dawson is excellent he's mastered plenty of my favorite albums.

why post a video with no audio?
Hadn't realized the audio was muted for copyright issues. Gonna take it down shortly
was looking 4ward to it.
Mastering with a calculator on the mixing board. how can i get there without going to school for production, dayuummnn
Ironically i dont like how this album was mixed

Your ears must be on backwards.
@1:40sec PROOF!!!
Your crazy..its loud on purpose. its really a personal taste... there is no golden standard for mixing..that there is the secret.
they fucked up the bass on what more can they say....
What bro thats not James hetfield this aint metallica bro

No it doesn't..
A little more mastering, please. A little less Jerry Springer.
