To help with exposure I’ve started to preserve my settings in settings > camera > preserve settings and turn on for Exposure Adjustments. The Apple ProRes LUT is available in Final Cut Pro. It's automatically applied as you import your ProRes file. You can then take it off obviously if you want to color grade from scratch...
Great video.. what would you suggest for a beginner filmmaker an iphone 15 pro or a mirrorless camera like zve10 or any other budget camera you can recommend?
Just get the iPhone. You won’t find a more flexible camera for less money. It’s always in your pocket and it can do some amazing stuff if you know how to use it. Or even if you don’t tbh.
If you have some sort of phone with average or good camera, get dji osmo mobile and start working on composing shots, editing and so on, push on quality and versatility can come later when your skill will grow. It's obvious that cameras with changeable lens are better in versatility, but they are crap if you dont have skills to use them (developed earlier). Just for your info, years ago some wedding clips were shot on the iphone 6, so dont run after latest ;) Even I am creating small wedding clips for clients some years ago it was samsung s7(+case with wide lens), then samsung s10+
Do not get the ZV-E10!!!! It’s great for photography, but it is absolutely trash for cinematography. It has really bad jellowing, so bad that 4K footage isn’t usable. If you have the iso higher than 400 your footage is also unusable. Just don’t buy it.

That’s true but can the actual sensor output 12 bit? I thought it was limited to 10 bit. I am planning on using LT for most cases. I guess I should test it once my phone arrives.

Do you think it will overheat in outdoor 80F ambiant?
If 4k 30 fps pro res video is available in iPhone 15 pro 128 GB variant?
No
what LUT do you use?
How long can you record it before overheating?
Final Cut Pro just released an update which includes a Apple lut for Apple log
Thank you for the heads up :)
For example, if you are filming for 20 minutes, does the iPhone not get too hot? And battery life?
Does it support with pendrive? I mean iPhone 15 pro + series are supporting type c pendrives for direct connect and move the files, does it work for log video 4K?
What format should the ssd be? FAT32 or?
Runs only with pro iPhone or pro Max ?
SanDisk T2 ?
It will work with iPhone 15 pro and pro max.
Thanks 🙏🏼
Ok SanDisk 2T runs with iPhone pro Max 15 - and Record pro Res ? without film skips or flickering?
Is fast enough ?
Yes
Does it works on 14 pro max
Unfortunately not
Does this feature only supports for pro models ?
1TB external Hard-drive gives you only 12mins LOG footage?
Congratulations from Italy! Can 4k on the 15 Pro Max be shot at 50p?
Not with the native app.
@@mrlightwriter ok thanx 😓
@@mirkomarinelli Yeah, it's a bummer...I also live in Europe (Portugal), and 50fps would be awesome to avoid flicker from the lights.
@@mrlightwriter With Blackmagic App you can record at 50p.
It's free on the app store 😉
Talking head videos is exactly what I was planning to use it on. I’m not a filmmaker and don’t have a professional camera, just an iPhone 15 pro.
Can someone please explain why he said it wouldn’t be good for talking head videos?
Because the amount of storage it would use is outrageous. It will work and look great but do you have that much storage? If so I say do it.
That makes sense, maybe I need to get a 1tb or 2tb for 1 to 1:30 long videos?.
Thanks for the response!.
Only iphone 15? Or Iphone 14?
does attaching ssd to phone drain battery?
That is sick
Will this work on iphone 15 pro 128 GB?
Yes it will
Is it available with 15 pro 128gb ?
Yes it is. All Pro models.
did i just catch a glimpse of over 1.5k unread emails
Do you open all of your emails
my spam email is sitting on 9 thousand, private email i always check, and school one i always check
I'll wait for the iPhone 16 since I already bought the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 recently, which is better for my video use than my phone is.
What is a DJ1 osmo pocket 3?
2 questions: 1) can I record video with 32bit audio, if I have a zoom f6 or similar... and 2) can I use a SSD and the audio device simultaneously via a usb hub?
I have a general question, for general shooting, do people really shoot at 4K/60FPS? I thought cinematic was more 23.976 or 29.97? Most of the stock B roll I find for TH-cam videos is under 24 so Im confused how to mix and match it.
Its great if you want to have either super smooth motion or to get cool slow mo shots at a decent frame rate
do we need to use some special cable along with external SSD to record log? 4k 60 fps
I have the Sandisk Extreme 2tb. I use the cable it came with and it won’t connect to my 15 pro max. It doesn’t recognize it. Did you do something special to get yours to work? Thanks.
in my case i put sand disk of 128 GB with a card reader and i can only ear the audio the video looks black, can you help me?
i need a better cable or SSD?
Yeah you can’t use a as card. You need an ssd
Or am I misunderstanding your comment?
i got the SSD external hard drive and when i want see it on my oc it shows :
we cant play video IMG 0001. its encoded in apch format which isnt supported.you mcan still listen to the audio@@MichaelJohnsonProductions
I have my microphone toggle in the port, need a double port if the hard drive is in at the same time, or am i misunderstanding !
As an Asian I too like my dogs crispy 😅 but great informative video!
lol that’s hilarious. I appreciate you checking it the video.
I really need a SSD to ProRes 4k60fps or i can use my pendrive USB C 128Gb???
Tried to record today with external T7 and it recorded 2-4 seconds only .. just not there .. any ideas?
Hmm that’s very confusing. I’ve just tested and used the wal mart brand ssd’s and it works great. Very long clips as well.
Yeah weird … another thing .. can’t use 3x lens in cenmatic mode … is it correct?
What settings i should use to film decent / good vids but not kill my storage?
and why did it say only 12 min ?? is that all we can record on that samsung 500gb??
Because I already had a lot of stuff on that ssd.
@@MichaelJohnsonProductions ohhh. How much did it say in the beginning you remb???
so we cant vlog in 1080p any more with this same set up??? we have to vlog in 4k 30fps etc????
but what if I am using the usb c for mikrofon, how can I do prores and use mic at the sametime?
How to I record audio through a mic using pro res?
after I recorded it on ssd , can I still edit on iPhone?
Absolutely as long as you have enough space on the phone to do so
but im using the ssd cus the files is too big for the iPhone storage, my question is the editing app like capcut etc can edit by using the storage as the files picker and use proxies or some@@MichaelJohnsonProductions
I use LumaFusion to edit on my cell phone if I ever have too. Unfortunately it transfers that data to the phone while editing. I’m not sure about the app you use I would run some test if you have the phone.
we still don't have it here but im checking the stuff that I need to get with it, thanks any way

Can Sandisk Dual Luxe with 400mbps read record Pro Res?
Hello,
May I know if we transfer the video of 4k60fps dolby vision hdr shot from iphone 15 to windows pc for editing on premiere pro, would that degrade the video quality ?
Question, I recorded 4k60 ProRes onto a 256Gig thumb drive and the footage is pretty jittery when panning around. Any idea what can be causing it? I recoded 4k30 ProRes onto the device and it was super smooth.
Yeah sounds like your thumb drive is not fast enough. You need an actual SSD that can read and write 1000 MB/s
@@MichaelJohnsonProductions thank you so much. I’ll definitely get one.
Why 60fps wouldn't 30fps stop it being too sharp
When I record 4K60fps to my Samsung T7 using the cable(USB 3.2) provided with the T7, my videos are still choppy.
