  • It's the most prestigious Skoda ever made and the largest SUV.
    It comes in four trims levels, S, SE, SEL and Edition while you can pick from 5 engine variants.
    There are three petrols to choose from including two versions of a 1.4-litre TSI with 125PS and 150PS while there's a range topping 2.0-litre TSi with 180PS. Then there are two variants of a 2.0-litre diesel, either with 150PS or 190PS.
    As standard, you get a six-speed manual gearbox while a seven-speed DSG is available as an option but also comes standard on the most powerful petrol and diesel.
    Choose from 2WD or 4WD while you can pick from five or seven-seat configuration, although entry-level models are only available with 2WD.
    The boot has a capacity of 720-litres, rising to 2,065 litres with the rear seats folded flat.
    Prices start from £21,565 and rise to £34,895.
    Here, we're testing the 2.0-litre 150PS diesel in SEL trim and fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox. While we also drove the 1.4 TSI petrol with a DSG and the 2.0-litre diesel in Edition trim with a DSG and optional dynamic chassis and discuss our observations of those vehicles, too.

      You're most welcome Andrew and thank you for the kind comments. A good short list. Depending on when you're looking to change, might be worth considering the next Volvo XC60. Here is it at the Geneva Motor Show: th-cam.com/video/Q-3FYTuToz4/w-d-xo.html

    Great review, and enjoyed the "understore floorage" - deliberate or accidental, it made me chuckle.

      Ian Tullie thanks and good ear. You should hear some of the drivel that hits the cutting room floor (so to speak). It's often such a rush with limited time on press launch days that it happens, sadly.

      Driver's Seat i like your review.I would like to buy 1.4 tsi dsg is that engine ok for such a big car?

    • @driversseat659
      @driversseat659  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eugen Varzić many thanks. Yes, that 1.4-litre engine works really well. It is more than powerful enough (if not rapid) and is more refined than the diesel.

      Driver's Seat I hope I will try it in next few days...so I can compare, as I was driving 2.0 4x4 diesel last week.What a car...amazing

    Nice balanced review, already have one ordered and was slightly concerned that I chose the 1.4 petrol 150 bhp Dsg, the review has shown me it was probably a good choice. Didn't want another diesel car given all the bad press for them and the thinking that the government is going to squeeze diesel owner off the road. What is under store floorage though.

      Stuart Gilmour many thanks for your kind words. Did prefer the petrol for its refinement, so for us the best choice especially with DSG. Boot underfloor storage was limited due to seven seats on the models we tested.

    • @stuartgilmour1176
      @stuartgilmour1176 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great to know. It is the seven seat version I've ordered but considering I currently drive a cactus the boot is bound to be bigger.

      Stuart Gilmour a huge difference. Hope you like and enjoy the Kodiaq when it arrives. Do let us know how you get on.

      Driver's Seat , Had my Kodiaq now for just over a month and done 2000 miles including a holiday drive to the south of England. The boot easily swallowed all out luggage including a large camping fridge. The Kodiaq drives really well, great balance between comfort and road holding. The 1.4 tsi auto is an excellent engine, very quiet and refined. Mpg is not going to win awards but that is the trade off for a very quiet drive. I have the SE spec which has enough toys to keep me happy, the only option I should have taken was probably the reversing camera, it is a large vehicle and parking has taken some practice. I have this vehicle for three years on lease and I smile every time I get in it to drive.

    That's what I call a sensible classy big car. Smart too. If I were to change my CRV, this would be right at the top of the list with Discovery Sport and new XC60. The XC60 is even classier but does it have seven seats and is its price competitive?

    • @driversseat659
      @driversseat659  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Huw Williams agree with your comments, right on the button. Only five seats for the XC60 from what we've heard but will double check.

    Your comment on the 3rd row legroom is misleading, as the second row was clearly quite far forward to provide you with sufficient room back there. Good review overall.

    • @driversseat659
      @driversseat659  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pei Fang Teng there is good room back there, just forgot to reset the seat when filming.

      Thanks for the response. This seems to place between the Xtrail and the Sorento in 3rd row comfort. How does it compare to the Discovery Sport in that regards ?

    0:57 "under store floorage" 😊 You don't get that in competitor's cars!

    • @driversseat659
      @driversseat659  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Simon Birch it's unique to the Skoda Kodiaq, and possibly only on the vehicle we tested.

      Got to get one then! Seriously it looks like a great successor to my Skoda Yeti...

    • @driversseat659
      @driversseat659  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Simon Birch it is an impressive beast especially with such a low starting price for the size of it. Although, it would be easy to spec it up to over £40k.

    any feedback for the SE 1.4 tsi 125?

    • @driversseat659
      @driversseat659  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ncccs drove the SEL petrol. Pretty decent effort. Diesel was the stronger performer but the petrol was refined and smooth.

  • @jh5kl
    @jh5kl 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    thats really strange, i have never seen a kodiaq that you need to put the top part of the back seat down and then push it forward to get in the third seat. at least in other countries (many things change from country to country) you just need to do one movement pushing a small handle on the top part and push it forward

    • @driversseat659
      @driversseat659  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jh5kl we tried it in several ways and for a good few minutes. Then Skoda representative showed us that technique. Could have been that the seats weren't greased too well so required the double movement.
