- In 2021 Skoda Kodiaq underwent a facelift, and by 2022 the press cars finally arrived. I recall in 2017 there were also delays, as the clients rushed to buy the Czech SUV, and the factory couldn't keep up with demand. Today I am reviewing the Skoda Kodiaq Laurin&Klement 7-seater.

Nice review, but sells the Kodiaq short. It will be the first car i review soon on my new channel and here in Australia it is a huge amount of car for the money. We only get 4x4 DSG 7 seat models with petrol only engines. A 132kW/320Nm and the RS with a 18okW/370Nm engine. I have had it mistaken for an Audi and a VW here since driving it for review. In my opinion the crisp clean lines and clam shell bonnet have a timeless 21st century design feel. At 4700mm it is the shortest 7 seater on our market, but at 765 litres in 5 seat set up, its load space is class leading. Thanks once more for your review, but please don’t sella good product short. For the consumption in the display, there should be the scroll wheel or something that you press (that's what i have to do on my mk4 Leon)
@9:36 it seems you are using Google Maps but the map is also shown in the instrument cluster. Was that in the instrument cluster the onboard Satnav, or the map from Google Maps?
Limited Google Maps directions are shown in the instrument cluster (arrows, distance, etc.). Not the full map though.
Did you put the DSG shifter Down in S when you did the acceleration test? It changes the timing of the gear changes.
I do test speed runs in normal D and sport S. Still sluggish.
Unless it's a sport(ish) car, S mainly keeps the car in higher gear.

I separated reviews in English from the original channel (which still has around 240k subs). TH-cam helped me transfer the viewing stats and comments to the new English-only channel, but subscriptions started from 0. We're now 1 year and a week since the new channel was launched. 17k subs is not great, not terrible :)
The controls on the driver's door are abominably placed. For a tall driver with a long fore arm it's difficult to reach the window buttons without tilting down the palm. Also, the wing (external) mirrors can be folded with a 3 steps (instead of 1 step in an old Opel Astra H). Also, the handle slot is too close to the hinge, which requires more force to pull/push the door. It should have been place at the center of the handle, or at least further away from the hinge. The silvery inserts on the steering wheel and on the front passenger door happily reflect the sunlight into the driver's eyes. On the analogue instrument cluster there is no indicator of which lights are on or off, the indicators are only on the dial itself, which is difficult to see.
The Kodiaq is a fine family car, but definitely 5+2 seats and not a true 7 seater. A relative of mine had to trade in theirs as they found it simply didn't have enough space when they had another child. Still, they found it very practical and didn't have any issues with it.

Do you know if it was big enough for 2 car seats and a teenager in the middle row?
@@empresstmc Definitely a bit tight for that if memory serves. Not impossible but the teenager will be cursing you on longer trips. Also, the centre seat has will have to deal with the transmission tunnel unlike say a Peugeot 5008

What am I so entertained by you testing out the third row? LOL. Surprisingly I really like my kid's friends. Darn. No third row riding for them. We don't get Skoda here in Canada but it seems like a smart alternative to VW or Audi if you aren't interested in paying the extra bucks. Re their infotainment, I thought I read somewhere Blackberry QNX is now getting involved with VW. They seem to be in every OEM system now.

Prefer the Seat Tarraco. Lower, same space inside and the 190 4 drive shifts pretty quick. Couldn’t buy a 150bhp, better off buying a 1 year old 190 bop.
Should Skodiaq be ready to stand the ground in a big fight with Bigfootster in the near future? ( I know the near future seems to be far away nowadays, but I had to ask)

Here in Ireland the Kodiaq is only available new in 7 seater only, the 5 seater is no longer brought into the country
Same in UK, no option to have 5 seater Laurin Klement. But honestly, when third tow is feld, I dont see the difference.
Hello, I think the Skoda Kodiak is a lot of car you get off Job and one ordered one now brand-new and I think your review is wrong
cheers for no longer bashing the Kodiaq. It's a nice car (as long as you don't need more than five seats) and a pleasure to drive (I do since early 2018) and I would buy one again. There are lots of duller looking cars on market and only few (if at all) with better value for money.
The Kodiaq stands out in its class and, in my country, enjoys a privileged status as the only European compact 7-seater SUV that ticks all the boxes - price-performance, power and driving dynamics, space, interior quality and NVH, and most importantly for Asia, servicing costs and reliability.
Sigh, I should have gotten one when it was still "cheap".
(Cheap is relative for me, because I live in the most expensive car market in the world. Guess where.)

Acoustic / laminated windows are available also pre - facelift.
Just testrode a 2019 L&K model which had it.

@Mats Rekdal in that case I suggest you listen, to what I said in the review (or for your convenience I'll quote from the script): "In the pre-facelift Kodiaq, at least in the early production examples, there was no optional acoustic front side windows."

Only thing I remember from the video is how much you dislike the car and how annoyed you are, not a pleasurable nor informative watch…

I get 36 mpg from my 1.3l Tce and I drive it like a stole it !

@@MarekDrivesENG Yes a Duster (which I am getting rid of in a weeks time). I dont have a disability (apart from buy crap cars) and the charging infrastructure here in the UK is a joke. people have to queue up just to charge cars.
The latest sales figures for EV cars shows a dramatic slow down and some of the early adopters of EV's have gone back to Diesel cars after finding out inflexible EV cars are
