How much do I love this? An absolute LEGEND, just throwing senkos, chilling on his cooler, on top of a DIY plywood-decked jonboat. Schooling us all, and he doesn’t even need a sparkly boat or 27 rods or a bunch of “game changer” lures. He just knows where fish are and he throws a worm in their face.
Wow, truly the G.O.A.T. - worth a gazillion bucks, jon boat, homemade platform he built himself in another video, sitting on a cooler, with a simple hand trolling motor throwing the most basic fishing lure ever - and he's loving the crap out of it! Thank you, sir for decades of enjoyment with your TV shows and now these YT videos.. pure awesomeness!
It seems like I have been watching Roland for like 40 years . I am 65 live in Florida and like to bass fish. He has always been my favorite TV fisherman . Thanks for a lifetime of good advice.
Roland I'm 70 years old, fishing all my life and could never get bass a rubber worm until I watched your videos. 1st time out after watching your videos I got 9 bass in 2 1/2 hours in my 10' kayak. Thanks for all your tips!!!
Roland I love your simple but yet effective boat. I know you have a 50k plus boat but you’re a very humble man that’s not all about the money and loves to help people thank you Roland.
Roland, I started following your career back in 1981 when I had a little weekend trailer out in Clewiston just south of the old Jolly Roger Marina. I used to fish with Vern Crawford, Snooky Robinson, Sarge, Harry Richardson, bunch of the old-timers. I used a to come and hang out at your shop and just kind of noodle with the guys. I turn 74 this year and I’m still fishing 3 to 5 times a week. I live up on Lake Harris now where Hydrilla is the main deal. But I can also say watching this video like every other video I ever watched of yours I learned something. Good to see you out there still doing what you do. I used to work for a TV station in Miami and you and I sat down long before TH-cam or any of the other stuff existed, round 1984, and did a long interview on what the Roland Martin experience was all about and basically how to just catch bass on lake Okeechobee. It played in Miami market, not sure if you ever saw it. I just became a subscriber to your new site, new to me anyway, and I look forward to seeing more of your always interesting pieces. Larry Henrichs
Mr Martin is not only a master Bass fisherman…… he has the “art of teaching” down to a science in every sense of the meaning. Just a tremendous human being. When you employ what he is teaching and experience the successful results, you begin to experience and understand the excitement he shows on every Bass he catches. Truly the Real Deal.
Enjoyed this segment i fish strip pits in central Illinois . shallow areas have lots of weeds and pads fish the same way.... you have shown us how.. thank you Roland G.o.a.t... i always get a chuckle watching and listening...as always its more fun when you catch fish.
Your tips have helped me a lot with my worm fishing 👍. And I love buzz baiting too!!! I'm up in Iowa so finding a decent fishin hole might be a little more difficult than in the Everglades 🤣but there's nothin much better than grabbing a big ol bass by the lip and Poppin that hook out then letting her go🇺🇲
Here in my home province in South Africa we have a LOT of grass and structure in our dams. Since watching you fishing senkos it has become favourite bait. There is SO MUCH grass that nearly all my fishing is weightless texas rigged soft plastic lures or spinnerbaits. I have tried jigs but struggles to master the technique, but as i am a teacher, i am willing to learn.
Yea definitely one of the greatest of all time!!! I've been watching you since I was about 4 yrs old and have learned so much. Thanks for all the tips and tricks that I will be teaching to my son that loves to fish also
Here in Kansas I've caught some big bass in hot conditions and hydrilla - never really made the connection why, as it's easy to head in for lunch and a nap when the mid-summer sun's directly overhead. Lidless eye, huh.... Ding! This is why you're still the original, and I think the best. Thanks for sharing your passion and a lifetime of experience with us. Come fishing with me anytime!
You're a legend Roland I've been watching you since I was a young boy and I used to joke around that I'm Roland Martin when I would go fishing with my friends thanks for all you do Now I'm 52 I live in Northern Calif. Not to fare away from a lake called Clear lake you may have fished there before. Thanks again...
I never comment, but you've been instrumental in improving my Central Florida bass fishing skills. The other day in a nearby canal I caught 5 bass. A real record for me. You're a teacher in more ways than fishing - like how to run a well-branded, consistent, informative, and entertaining TH-cam channel! Thank you!!
Hey Roland I just wanna say your videos are the best! You have taught me so much! I’ve been taking your tips & tricks and applying them in my Jersey lakes and I’ve had nothing but success.
I have had the greatest time fishing the Senko. I had my kayak out today and came across grassy areas. I wish I had seen this video before today. But next time ill be better prepared. Thanks Roland for all your insights. Your son is not half bad either. ;-)
great video Roland and happy fathers day! i can tell from watching your son Scott that you've been a great dad. thank you for all the tips and tricks through the years, youre a great teacher!
Hi Roland! Love your videos! I don't have to guess what to use down here in southwest Florida. What ever you use in the videos works that week. Keep it up and Happy Father's Day.!
I just started worm fishing and love it..I especially love rigging the wacky.rig I had those worms and my tackle box never used them when I did I didn't rig them right I have caught alot of. Small mouth
Hey Roland I'm 23 really got into bass fishing past 3 years, from Indiana do alot of pond fishing around here. If you every want to have a fan come fish let me know I'll leave whenever you say! Love the channel👍
Ending the night with one of your videos or one of Scott's is a nightly routine. You guys are both great. I hope one day I can be as relaxed as you are. You catch a 10# and act like it's nothing. I live in Michigan so catching a 10# is insane. Maybe one day you can show me how it's done. Wishful thinking. Anyway your videos are very educational for me been fishing for 25 years since I was 6 I learn more than I have ever from your videos. Thank you.
Informative vid Roland. I have been watching and learning from you since I was 7. Now 42 and still pick up tips. Good job on talking about hydrilla holes and using a weight. I love Senko on the wacky but never used them with a bullet weight.
Been watching you for a while now. Got a friend that just started bass fishing and i told him to subscribe to your channel because your the GOAT and he could learn a lot from you
I made one of those "O" Ring Tools out of a push button ball point pen. Works great. I always try to make stuff I like, knowing if I fail, I can always buy one. DIY always adds fun to the moment.
I love your shows, and have learned a lot from you. If I could maybe make a suggestion, could you show more close ups of things you are telling us about, like the pepper grass, your worm sets and such. I would especially like to see close ups of the top water lures, as you work them across the water. Keep up the great work, you are a real inspiration!
Mr. Martin me and my wife throughly enjoy watching your videos. We learn so much from you and your ability to articulate the techniques you employ make watching your videos even more enjoyable. Tight-lines?
Long time fan here. Love your TH-cam vids. Thanks for sharing all of your knowledge. I would like to see more close ups of how you are rigging your lures. Example: when you rigged a wacky style Senko, I would like to have seen a close up of the "weedless" hook you were using. Just a suggestion. Keep the videos coming ,and I,ll keep watching!
we have a pond at work and last 2 summers i was killing with the wacky rig in 100 degrees outside. i was using bullfrog and baby bass color zooms and yums. also the motor oil regular powerbait worms. when they were biting short i would cut about an inch off the worm. this year they are liking the natural bandito bug.
JAM, I would like to tell you that three years ago I won a fishing tournament exactly as to what you just described, fishing in the grasses I found a hole in the grass through my Texas rig in and sat there for a while playing with my phone, after about five minutes,I got a bite caught a 18",through back in this hole again got another bite set hook and caught a 20" repeated to the same hole caught a 21" repeated again got another bit set hook again, I had another fish on but this fish thru the hook it felt like another 18"fish at least,so I ended up with 59" of to win the tournament, all large mouth bass.
We have a lake here in Arkansas that is heated year round and stocked with Florida bass. Caught a 6 pounder today. Man, I can see why you live there. Those fish can fight.
You should come back to Rocky Gorge and show me the honey holes. Place is kicking my butt! You do a great job teaching and you're a hard guy not to like.
Hey Roland! I live 45 minutes east of you in west palm beach and fish every single day here on lake clarke where I own a home and a boat. Im in a wheelchair and modified my dock and boat to be wheelchair accessible! I’d love to take you fishing anytime and show you how a guy in a wheelchair can still catch big ones! If we have a hard time targeting bass theres also peacock bass out here on my lake! Id love to take you out sometime here we are practically neighbors and Ive been a huge fan of yours since I was a kid! Keep up the great work on your videos and hope we can link up sometime for some south florida fishing!!

Mr Roland I'd like to see you bring out some of your old lures, the helicopter lure, banjo mino, etc and make a video about it. Tell how you came up with these, I believe I found an old video of you and some other people and one of them had caught a giant bass on the helicopter.
Jonathan Allred I use to get the helicopters just for the hooks with the split ring and swivel win I wuz a kid and would use them on a worm just to give the front the drop and twitch it just under the surface of the water and caught tons of bass that way
I'd like to see you in the shallows or a tiny pond with a Polyethylene boat like Bass Pro Shops sells, or a Twin Troller, Pelican etc...) Been watching your shows for many years . One of my home lakes is Belton lake in Central Texas . Deep clear rocky with standing tember . How do you find fish on a lake that you have been fishing for years without going to the same old places .
Hey Roland, just subscribed last week's and am hooked. Super informative and getting huge tips. Chicago guy and was raised on you from my dad and am a huge frog/worm guy. Got a question... I see everyone using braid and a fluorocarbon leader lately with Texas rig. I typically use 20lb braid when wormin' and wonder if it's worth adding a leader? Especially at places with big bass like Toledo Bend ( I go in April on a guys trip every year). Thanks
Mr Roland sir 🙋🏻♂️, Have you ever bass fished in Volusia county Florida and if so , can you speak on your fishing experiences up here ? Another great video-thanks! I’ve watched a few now where you are throwing senkos on 30lb braid. What rod specs are you using? I would guess a heavy rod with fast action for heavy line like that. ? Why the heavy line?
@@RolandMartinOutdoors Thanks for the response and all the great fishing tips! I really appreciate that you are willing to share your vast fishing knowledge with recreational fishing enthusiasts such as myself. Have a great week!
Great video as always. What do you suggest using when fishing in high, muddy water? We’ve had non stop rain up here in Indiana and I can’t seem to find any bass, or the bass can’t seem to find my worms/lures.

Lmaoooooooooooooo literally. I love it and this comment
He has like two thousand rods and many many new sparkly boats. It definitely helps lol

Good stuff as always
I just love your boat, aluminum boats are the best sometimes.
I am glad that you continue to be a great and honest teacher. There is no greater profession when you are passionate about your trade.
PS: Have you ever fished for Flint River Bass in Middle to South Georgia above and below Albany? If not, my wife’s cousin does a little guiding. The river needs to be a fairly clear.
Pound for pound the bass version of a trout.
The old professor.
I caught my largest shoal bass there which weighed 6.5 pounds but my tournament partner got one 7.75!
I wish you were my uncle irl. Not just in my head
Love when u use whopper plopped I catch good bass on those more than anything
He’s probably got 6-10 boats in his fleet, if not more, just goes out and kills it on Jon boat mod sitting on a cooler. LEGEND!!!
just bought a new spinning set up for finesse fishing and of course we've had rain every day here west of Tampa FL
Nice. Keep 'em comin'.
I enjoyed the video, thanks.

Jonathan Allred I use to get the helicopters just for the hooks with the split ring and swivel win I wuz a kid and would use them on a worm just to give the front the drop and twitch it just under the surface of the water and caught tons of bass that way
Hell of a video 👍😉👍
Real good job, thank you.
Great advice, thanks
I'd like to see you in the shallows or a tiny pond with a Polyethylene boat like Bass Pro Shops sells, or a Twin Troller, Pelican etc...) It's got seats, you & your cameraman can lug it around like it's nuthin'. Add a battery & your trolling motor (unless it's a Twin Troller, it comes with two), maybe a sonar. I'd like to see that. Eventually you could trick it out with a mini power pole and/or an anchor, skeg etc...….
That sounds very interesting!
interested to know when would be a good time to use a trailer hook on a spinner bait.
Hi roland, great vid.
I am going to st clare for the first 8 days in June 2021. Target smallmouth. Any suggestions as to where to fish on the lake then and what baits? Thanks
