What do you mean dude? Senko's are quite literally the staple of bass fishing. Are you even catching bass if you're not throwing a senko? Requires zero patience at all, they will quite literally hit that thing as it drops to the bottom.
You also gotta make sure your where the fish are. Also consider season and time of day. I know all the spots and sometimes them mf just don't wanna bite.
Great video! I’ve been using these Senko techniques for years and JB is spot on. I was fortunate to have learned them, but it took a lot of trial and error.
As kid, I remember hearing stories of my cousin learning about a new technique from locals - turned out to be a wacky rigged senko with a bobber. First time trying a pack of watermelon white laminate senkos, ran through a whole pack with 15+ Bass within 2 hours. It really opened the deep rabbit hole for Bass Fishing, and 10+ years later, still is the ol reliable. Any time I need to get a bite (or even get someone on one), I reach for a senko. Definitely will check these tips out to up the game
Great content! I use 8# braid but with a 4 foot fluoro leader. I agree that the braid itself is seen too much so I found I get a lot more hookups with the fluorocarbon leader.
Senkos came out before you tube, it took a long time to figure out how to use correctly, and it was by accident. I set my rod down to do something, and probably 30 seconds on the bottom before a biggun picked it up. Lesson learned! Also noticed that it pays to change hooks if they won’t bite, a 3 aught ewg might give it the perfect wiggle on the way down, but the next day it’s gotta be something different
Great tips and thank you for sharing. Owner Twist Locks and the Gamakatsu thin diameter EWGs (red ones) are my two go-to hooks for most all soft plastics.
I started fishing with senkos during covid. The youtubers i watched used 4.0 size EWG hooks. So i have been using that hook to texas rig and wacky rig senkos and have caught lots of bass.
Awesome video, thanks for the great tips... funny how common sense is uncommon (yea, I'm guilty of that!) with colors and braided line! I'm on my way to pick up some fluorocarbon now! This video 'hooked' me, I've subscribed and will be watching other videos while I change my line! BTW, thanks for the color selection chart! Dom

@@austinhardy1234 I spool my base with mono (you can do braid, but you want rubber backing so it doesn't ever slip) then attach the rest of my spool with 20 lb braid, then I only put like a 2ft leader with fluoro or mono depending on what I'm doing. If you're in muddy water, just use palomar knot and tie straight to the hook/lure. The bass aren't stupid, but if your braid color isnt way standoff-ish, you'll be fine without a leader. Get good with palomar knot (super, super easy) and double uni, and you'll be tying leaders and braid fast as hell in no time.

As a beginner, this might be the first time I've watched a "tips/tricks" video (I've watched a lot) and realized I'm doing everything right already. Great feeling
I've caught more bass on senko style baits than anything. They will hit on the drop, always super fun, but I've also had a lot of hits slowly dragging the bait along the bottom Texas rigged. In clear water you can see them hanging around and following it until they can't stand it anymore.
Same I never really even bought into it for the longest. Im 40 btw, n when me n my friend were younger, he started using them. Yamamoto specifically seems to be the one of the best. I think it’s how soft they are and the color assortment. Just kinda expensive for what they are. They def catch fish. I noticed as well as this guy, using it weightless is absolutely the best. You get a weedless and fish it anywhere. Just know making it weedless will allow you to lose a fish or two here n there
Trying to find your color chart but I can't find it. I used these for the 1st time and on my vert first cast pulled out a monster. Now I'm going to buy a bunch off amazon
Tried senkos today since spawn earlier this year. Idk why I think I'm always doing it wrong but after watching this all I did was put on the wrong hook lol. Thanks for the video. Today I caught 4 decent size bass especially for being midday on a 90 summer day in ohio. Appreciate the vid. Thank you again brother
I catch a lot of fish on a senko. Green pumpkin with red or black flake works for me in dark green water. Visibility about a foot sometimes not that. TVA lake. Old Hickory in TN.
10:44 not sure about not using braid line for senko. I do braid to fluoro leader line and its fire. That suggestion came from Roland Martin and I dont use anything else for the senko set up. I get super sensivitity on a medium fast casting rod.
Agree with everything except line choice. I fish them near or in cover. I have break offs even with 18 lb braid, so that my minimum for line strength. And braid helps me cast far enough to get near the cover.
great info!! i've been fishing senkos for years and had great success, however your tips might make fishing with them even better. i've always used texas-rig weightless on a 3/0 EWG Gamakatsu hook, thrown it out and let it sink!! have never done much with a wacky rig but I might try it now. i've always used moss green colored braided line, most of the water I fish isn't clear anyway. what do you think about the 5 inch senkos with the different colored tips, like the Cinnamon/Purple Flake/Methiolate or the Black Blue Flake Blue Tail? They have been great for me!
45 yrs of fishing/ice fishing has taught me that outside of a few general environmental truisms (weather, water temp, etc), fish will eat what they want, when they want, regardless of the color, size, line, time of day, you name it. I can't count how many times I've caught sub-18" rainbows and brownies on a pike line with a 50# mono or black wire leader pulling a #5 Blue Fox spinner, regardless of color, or the black crappie I caught last year on a Texas rig pulled by straight 50# braid, or the success of using a Ned rig when ice fishing. Great tips!! One question... if the bass can notice the difference between monofilament and fluorocarbon, how can they not notice an exposed hook? Which brings me to another question.. are there certain color hooks to use for different water clarity?
My senko bits consist of not even getting to hit the ground on the first fall, then I can work it as slow as ever or whatever unless it's on the initial drop, they donr care for me.
When the current picks up, I like to give the senko some action by slow twitching the rod tip, making the senko levitate and resist against the current. I do this with all weightless Yamamoto baits.
My son uses florocarben and told me to switch to it because I like monofilament line I would get more fish🤔 one day he was getting more fish then me but 3 day's later I got more fish. The biggest mistake is spending all that money on the big-name brands like Gary Yamamoto and Googan. I have done a lot of comparing and the Ozark trails brand from Walmart works far better than either of the two aforementioned brands. Put one on a Texas rig throw it in and when a bass sees it it will hit it you don't really have to do much special with it to catch fish. Oh and you can also catch multiple fish on one worm and like the other two aforementioned brands.

Yum Dingers in smoke/pearl with a dip and glo chartreuse tail weightless and T-rigged on a 4/0 EWG if I am in a lake. If I am on a river/creek/stream I fish Yum Hellgrammites on a Z-Man Finesse Bullet 1/15 oz. That's it. Never fail to catch fish.
@@Spoonypictures yes i have a couple spots i fish regularly that are good. I like trying new techniques and baits regularly and senko wacky is maybe the only one iv never caught one on
Keep trying them man. Different locations and slow it down. You’ll be suprised how many times they get bit dead sticking. But almost always they get eaten off the bottom
Not trying to be rude but if you haven't yet, check your local laws on keeping native species as pets. Here In Indiana it's very illegal to keep any wildlife species captive without a special licence, especially gamefish. Hell we can't even catch shad and use them for bait at another spot besides right where we caught them.

there is no "right" or "wrong" way to fish, if it lands the bass on the shore or the boat.
This video could have been 6 minutes shorter
I fish alot of dirty water and NEVER catch them on a senko. Wether thats on a t-rig, wacky, wacky shot, nadda...
Moving too fast. Calm it down and relax
skill issue tbh
Use black worm and slow
Are you sure theres fish where youre fishing the senko?
@@Spoonypictures yes i have a couple spots i fish regularly that are good. I like trying new techniques and baits regularly and senko wacky is maybe the only one iv never caught one on
I'll be honest I have never had luck on a sanko idk ig I'm using it wrong
Keep trying them man. Different locations and slow it down. You’ll be suprised how many times they get bit dead sticking. But almost always they get eaten off the bottom
The bass in the back needs a bigger tank that tank is way to small for that fish
Agreed. Time for an upgrade. Hoping to put a full little pond on the side of my house.
Not trying to be rude but if you haven't yet, check your local laws on keeping native species as pets. Here In Indiana it's very illegal to keep any wildlife species captive without a special licence, especially gamefish. Hell we can't even catch shad and use them for bait at another spot besides right where we caught them.
Great video!! Been using Senkos for Years and love them! My go to is Black n Blue Flake. Just left Lake Powell a couple days ago as my Daughter lives in Page! Do you guide on Lake Powell? @krakenbass
if im to 2x my catches on bass so hmm lets see.... 2 times 0 is hmmm... still 0 :(
Fast forward 3 minutes, guys
You're rigging your O Ring incorrectly- Use 2 O Rings- Overlap them- then slide your hook under the X- not into the bait- + baits will last longer.....
To much filler... what are the main points. You didn't show a no.2 or no.3 octopus hook
