RIP Mom 1967-2022. She died 5 days after her 55th Birthday. It’s almost been a month and I miss talking to her about my day. She liked to listen to everything I had to say and I made her laugh when she was feeling down. She was really funny too and I miss her humour a lot. I’m turning 20 on the 18th and I’m sad she won’t be there to see it.

I had a heart transplant in 2019 (37 years old). I was born with dilated cardiomyopathy and received a pacemaker at 14 months. Suffered a Cardiac arrest in 2018 and had a defibrillator implanted. I went down hill and spent about 7 months on the wait list. I now take over 10,000 tablets a year, many of those being anti-rejection. If you suspect you may have an issue get it checked! Because if my amazing team I'm still here my 1 year old son (at the time of transplant - now 4 ) still has his dad.

My husband just died on January 6th of heart failure/cardiac arrest. His heart is still being studied by a pathologist to find out exactly what happened to him. He was a perfectly healthy 44 year old. I am watching a lot of these videos to try and figure it all out. He was asthmatic so shortness of breath was considered somewhat normal for him but he did get up a few nights in the weeks before he died to take his puffer which was unusual for him. Pray for us that we get some answers. If it’s genetic my kids will need to be tested.

I reflect a lot on life know seeing things differently, please do not allow your ego to get in the way if I can admit to being a selfish idiot and it helps one person then something good has come from me being stupid x

I had a heart attack new year's eve 2001, I was convinced that I was going to die. I was unable to get the right treatment for four days. When I was finally taken for the procedure I had five stents installed which finally stopped the pain. The treatment and after care was very good. The whole process of what had happened to me was explained at length be both the doctors involved and the after care heart nurses. Even with all this information I never really understood everything. This short little video has helped me understand what has happened to me and what the medication is for and how it works. Thank you so much.

I have every single one of these symptoms. Swollen ankles, seemingly permanent intermittent cough for years now. Very, almost bright, white spittle. Wake several times per night gasping and trying to catch my breath, very scary. I was born with a hole in my heart. They said it healed over during early childhood. I also pass out and hit the floor upon standing, then get right back up....at least three times per day, up to as many at 7 or 8 times per day. I've seen one cardiologist, a hoard of md's, general practitioners and internal med md's, they did a chemically induced stress test; and, several years back, when I was able, they did a physical stress test. I've known for a decade that it was chronic heart failure. The first time I passed out I fell down a two story flight of stairs. I was NINE years old. I'm 56 now! I've had these symptoms ALL OF MY LIFE. The medical fraternity in general, in the U.S., is nothing but a money hungry beast. They've proven one thing to me and one thing only. They don't have a clue. Totally indifferent. I've met veterinarians who show much more concern and put forth way more effort. Truly a travesty. I figure it's in God's hands. I'm ready when He is. There's no help to be found here.

I’m a cardiac arrest survivor. It was 5 years ago at 4am. My wife somehow awoke and found me non-responsive. She checked my pulse ( which there was none) She immediately started CPR and called 911. I awoke 3 days later in the hospital. She later told me everything that went down. Including the paramedics continuing CPR and using the shock device on me (2 shocks). Medically induced coma etc.... I now have an implanted defibrillator/pacemaker. Which went off and saved my life again about a year later. So I’m still here as a survivor. I became a licensed professional counselor in hopes of counseling those who experienced what I went through.

My wonderful father died exactly three weeks ago with heart failure at home while sitting on his chair and watching T.V. He died peacefully on his sleep. He was 82 years old. His death was so sudden and unexpected because I was not expecting him to die so quickly like that. He has a valve replacement 18 months ago because he had a sticky valve. His death was a total shock for me because he seemed fine in the morning, lunch, and afternoon where he got up at 7:50 a.m. We were laughing and making jokes in the morning. He even drove to the grocery store to buy some beer and he watched his soccer game in the computer in the morning. At lunch, he helped me cut my meat and was happy that I was going for a walk. He had his supper because he washed his dish. He left a bowl of potato chips uneaten. When I went to speak to him at 6:00 p.m. in the evening, he did not respond and I assumed that he was fast asleep because when he was fast asleep, he did not hear me and always fell asleep after having a meal. When I went at 7 something in the evening, he still was not responding when I told him that I wanted to watch T.V. I tapped him and he still was not moving. I felt his hand and they felt as cold as ice, so I went to call my neighbors down the street for help. My neighbors called the paramedics and they did CPR on him and told me that he passed away probably from cardiac arrest. Then the police came to do an investigation on him. The doctor finally came and examined him and told me that his cause of death was heart failure and that he had been having it for quite a long time. She also told me even if he was not feeling ill and felt asymptomatic, it was still going to kill him. She informed that he took many heavy medications which did not help. My father's death is a huge loss for me since I was very close to him and the grieving is going to go on for quite a long time.

The doc is trying to describe it to him, but he just wasn't getting it, not a dumb fella, probably knew more about farming than I could ever hope to, just not following. I am 61 and developed Aortic Stenosis years ago and my body seemed to work around it for about 15 years. Just this year I developed a case of Anemia so it was recommended that I do an echocardiogram. In a years time my heart "fell off a cliff" and now have severe heart failure. I just had a heart catheter and found I need my Aortic Stenosis corrected by replacing the valve. I am doing the TAVR procedure in Denver. This video is spot on and please take the advice and stay on top of it. I am a Prostate Cancer Survivor and my Heart Specialist stated he would rather give me a Cancer Diagnosis that this. "Severe Heart Failure"
He stated I have 2 years to live untreated and an 87% chance of living 15 more years if I do this procedure. I have Grandkids to live for so I feel blessed from guys and Doctors who educate you like this Video does. To all the people who share their experiences. THANK YOU. You don't realize how much this helps save lives and the quality of those lives.

From a patient perspective (myelomeningocele) I wanted to make a couple of comments if I may. Firstly I was very impressed with your statement about the importance of discussion and explanation. Gone (hopefully) are the old days of the patient being talked about rather than included in his/her management. I was diagnosed with idiopathic Heart Failure in 2005 after suffering an episode of pulmonary edema in the middle of the night. I was seen in the ER by a cardiologist. My ejection fraction the next day was 30. Other than mild HTN, I had no other cardiac issues.
Fast forward to 2021 and I am still kicking. New technology in echocardiograms has now revealed I suffer from something called Non-compacted cardiomyopathy. My heart muscle did not form properly in utero. So I now have a pump that doesn’t work perfectly, but at least my pipes (arteries) are in very good shape.
I was lucky to be assigned to a Cardiac Nurse Practitioner at the cardiologist office. She was able to tweak my meds, and get me doing very well.
My most current echo has my ejection fraction at 45%. I will always be on my Lisinopril, Carvedilol and Spironolactone. And am also on some Inderal for atypical angina. But at least I am still here.

I’ve just been diagnosed with unstable angina, in other words the small vessels go into spasms causing angina pains, shortness of breath and exhaustion. I’d not heard of it before and I get attacks mostly at night, during rest but sometimes on exertion. It’s often missed in A&E as happened to me three times because your ECG and cardiac bloods are “ normal” . In fact the hospital only started taking things seriously because one dr gave me a GTN spray to try and when I had to use it three times in 15 minutes without relief then I was taken into hospital by paramedics and admitted to the Cardiac ward where they started me on other drugs as well as all the blood pressure drugs I was already on. I was in hospital for nearly two weeks and the cardiologist decided I needed an angiogram as he started to notice suspicious changes on the ECGS. Thankfully the main cardiac arteries are clear and there’s no blockage however they said I do have micro vascular angina with some vasospasticity where the arteries go into spasm. In fact the main artery in my arm went into spasm during the angiogram which was incredibly painful and one week on my arm is still very painful, then unfortunately they hit my collarbone with the arterial “wire” and I got shooting pain right down my spine so it wasn’t the best experience 🥴. The one good outcome is at least I have a diagnosis and a treatment plan and whilst no one wants to hear they have angina I’m at low risk of a heart attack within the next three years. The downside is they stopped the clopidogrel the Ranexa and a third tablet which they said was for Ischemia and since they’ve stopped them within 12 hours my blood pressure went back up to the 170/180’s/ 110’s but fluctuates a lot. I can record a resting BP of 180/115 -109/75 within an hour and back up to the 180’s again. No matter what we do or try we cannot seem to get my BP down or stabilised.

After 4 trips to the ER and the last 2 visits I was admitted to the hospital, one for 5 day, out for 6 days and back in for 6 days, I was diagnosed with Diastolic heart failure. I had the symptoms discussed here. Especially waking up in the middle of the night not able to breath. I called it the "void" because I could not move air in or out and it felt like an emptiness in front of me. It was scary because all I could think of was I need to breath now. If not I'm going to die in like 5 minutes. It was hard to calm yourself down and start with short breaths until finally being able to take a "real" breath. I am learning how to take better care of my heart now. My heath problem is because of high blood pressure. Even though I was on bp meds They weren't regulating my bp. But now I have a medical team that cares and are helping me. So if your PCP is not helping you go find another one. There are doctors out there to help us get better and not there for a paycheck and we are a number that he got thru to the end of the day!

It takes time but so did gaining weight. But you either build weight or build muscle.
      It's time to build muscle.
Start with legs it's easier and takes less will power. Also developed legs enhances your ability to run, breathing, stamina and endurance. So you can then incorporate cardio and other exercises.
You'll know you're making progress when you get sore. Because you're 'leveling up muscle'.
Dont do cardio without leg training. I see big ppl doing it... it's not wrong- but its not an effective way to go about it. Also dont try to be a weight lifter. Just do a lot of reps.
Instead of trying to lift 300lb with legs just do 125 or 150, whatever you feel is decent. And do alot of reps. Lift it many times. Like 10 x 8. Also you don't have to do 10 at a time as a base number. Can do it up till 5. 10 sets of 5.
If you lift heavy it's only gonna make the muscle bigger and make you look bigger. That's no what we're going for here.

My dad was misdiagnosed for two years before he finally died in my arms from what they described as blocked arteries. We had spent the entire day before his death going from station to station at a hospital while they "tried" to figure out why a previously vigorous man was suddenly unable to take six steps without requiring rest. The useless hospitals kept insisting that it was some kind of lung disorder. Nope, he turned blue, passed out, and died of cardiac issues.

So sorry Leanie. I just liked your comment. Not because of what happened obviously but because I understand having to deal with the pain and feelings of helplessness of such a traumatic event that the different choices of others could have had an alternate outcome. It's so weird how a few sentences scribbled in a comment that a bunch of strangers might possibly read can help you to get things off of your chest and how the story of your beloved father contained in those same sentences could possibly arm a stranger with enough information that saves a loved one in their lives. I lost my father before I turned 30 to something there was nothing I could have done about. I know every situation is different but there was something in your story I could relate to. Hang in there.

I’m 39 years old roughly 9 years ago I had blood clots in my lungs which caused me to have an enlarged heart and a pulmonary embolism
After taking warfarin for a year and getting checked I was left with scar tissue on my lungs but I started to go to the gym as well as work a manual job
Roughly 2/3 years ago I started to have similar symptoms as before and thought I had clots again but they checked my blood and nothing so I went back as I was starting to struggle doing things I previously had no issues doing and they gave me an x ray said I was fine
I know my own body basically I went a lot of times and only when a nurse finally done an echocardiogram they found my left ventricle was impaired so I waited on the doctor calling me saying that it was “mild”so a short while passed and I went back as I still didn’t feel right I was tired all the time had no energy etc then out of the blue with no explanation I received a prescription for ramipril through the door I was confused as I didn’t know what it was for or why I was to take it
So a while after that I went back as I wasn’t getting better bearing in mind I didn’t know having left ventricle impairment was heart failure until I looked into it
The last time I got checked was months ago and the heart specialist said it’s not any better but it’s not worse
So I’m currently still working a manual job that is hard for me to keep doing as I struggle to do the same things I can’t lift weights like I used to I hardly sleep and they still haven’t been told that I have heart failure in any form after seeing this video you say they shouldn’t give ace inhibitors for valvular heart disease which I’m assuming is what I have as my left ventricle is not working properly I would love to go private but that au t an option so anyone any advice or the guy who done the video any advice? Appreciate it

@@rizwan308 well hello nice to hear from you. Okay well you asked so... he had open heart surgery they put in a fenistrated patch, with lots of microscopic holes that would not cause big changes to the heart pressure all at once but the body puts a protective layer over it in time so the holes close naturally. He also had Atrial fibrillation which she used a laser for striated the area misfiring & that did the trick. No special diet was required but I would suggest that our overall healthy eating no red meat, low salt, reduce cholesterol by cutting down on processed foods& keeping weight down has helped give some good years after surgery, its only now I'm noticing small changes but he is 77 this year. Enjoy everyday try not to worry, advances in surgical procedures will benefit you as you go through life. Fitness is important but no exercises with hands above your head it forces the heart to work harder, build up slowly try to find a local group recovering from similar things. Best of luck to you. Quick comment: I've noticed that people not eating well can indicate heart failure as well. I think that digesting food or being even close to full puts enough stress on the heart that people dislike eating even a properly portioned meal; it causes them to feel tired or out of breath. This may be hard for a patient to judge though; a lot of people have really bad ideas of what constitutes a reasonable portion of anything nowdays.
