      Hey there, I'm so glad it worked--it's still working for me all these years later! :)

    Thank you very much for providing this video for fellow Sienna owners.
    I had a similar glitchy stereo on my 2005 Sienna. It has a lower-end stereo without AUX. I took it out of the car and removed the faceplate following your instructions. I damaged some of the clips in the process - no biggie. The connectors are different than yours. I didn't see anything wrong with either of them so I just sprayed them with contact cleaner (WD-40 specialist contact cleaner purchased at Walmart) and put everything back together. Like magic, it now works perfectly! Pressing on the faceplate in the area where the connector is no longer causes the stereo to glitch.
    Thanks again.

      That's great to hear Danny! We still have our van and the fix is still working after all these years since the video was made (so I know it's a good long-term solution).

    Thank you so much for making this video!!!!
    I almost bought a refurbished one for $220 since we have the JBL one with the DVD screen system for the kids. Showing both the temporary fix and permanent solution is great so that people can choose what to do if they’re not inclined to go the extra step in taking it apart. A++++++++++++

      You are very welcome. I wanted to see if it could be done, and how complex it would be. It has been helpful to you and others, and that's about all I could ask for. :)

      Glad you found it helpful! It seems there were lots of videos on how to take the unit out, but not the cause and cure of the flickering display. Enjoy your music!

    My son posted quarters in my stereo this video makes me think I might be able to fix it! Thank you. Imagine there are coins in the places you have described

      @@henryvanweeren7233 i have the same issue with my 2013 sienna radio screen going blacked out randomly i think mostly when it's hot. i took out the head unit and checked in pin connector seems ok. did you clean it with anything? thanks.

      @henryvanweeren7233  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@whatevertihs I just used contact cleaner from an electronics supply store. The important thing is to ensure all the pins firmly fit in place. That should do it. :)
      Just to be clear: did you remove the faceplate, or just the whole radio?

    Hi. Thanks for this video. What is the cleaner you’re spraying on?

    • @henryvanweeren7233
      @henryvanweeren7233  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad it was useful! The cleaner is electrical contact cleaner. Usually found in electronic supply stores or well-stocked automotive supply stores.

    thank you Henry. I looked this up because the glass or plastic on my radio display became cracked due to something falling on it- everything else works fine including the LED display. Can you tell me if the black plastic faceplate (that contains that glass or plastic over the LED display) can be removed from the green motherboard that is attached to the back of the faceplate? I found a defective identical radio being sold on ebay as a part, and can harvest the faceplate off it to replace mine. However it looks like it might be tricky since that motherboard has to somehow attach to all the knobs and controls. thanks!

      Hello Nancy!
      I'm glad you found the video useful--to a point. I really don't know about switching the front cover faceplate. If the defective radio is cheap enough, perhaps get it and experiment with that unit first before trying it on your own. If it doesn't work, you haven't ruined your original one and you know the swap isn't doable. If it does work, you win and will have learned something in the process!

    Does anyone know why my CD player works but the radio doesn't? It has the original factory radio. Thanks!

      Hello Angelia, do I understand you to mean that the display works for the CD, but not the radio? Is the display on all the time when the power is on?

    • @amariedavies
      @amariedavies 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@henryvanweeren7233 the display works, playing CDs is fine, but it won't play the radio at all. I did notice that sometimes when I adjust the volume it jumps up and down (the volume number).

    • @henryvanweeren7233
      @henryvanweeren7233  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@amariedavies Well, about the only thing I can suggest is pulling radio out and cleaning the contacts as per my video. If that doesn't work, perhaps try looking for an aftermarket unit from a car electronics place.
