It's funny, Lost Kingdom is actually a map my friend made. It's literally her first map, and it was *specifically* made for a Freak Fortress server she and I are regulars at. I'm surprised it was on the workshop, and the reason you might not have had any textures is because they might've just been on the server for some reason
No, your friend just didn't pack the textures properly, but because everyone already had the textures installed from other maps that did pack them none on the server noticed. It's fine trying to pack shit is hell and I could never figure out how to do it

The reason you all spawned inside eachother at 3:20 is probably because the creator didnt raise the spawn points off the ground or some other error in hammer (maybe a map leak?) caused all spawns to default to one point

I once did a map where blue base was on a small plane, and they would've capped CPs on red's big plane... Besides the fact that I have never actually finished the map, it had a huge downfall. This made the map compiler freak out a little... And at the end: I have the main map and the "skybox world" on the same visleaf... This was lolz

Had a look at it, it's actually a genuinely good map design and layout! Well done man! There's a few chokepoints, but adding more alternative routes and more cover areas from enemy fire can easily fix that. The only thing I really suggest is that you add some decor and other map "gimmicks" to make it interesting and look more polished. Secret areas and routes could also be neat, since your map has a mazelike theme to it that would do well with that kind of thing. Overall, your map is really good and manages to be viable for every class in the game, which is a very big deal for a workshop map. I'm a fan, and I'd love to see it polished off if you're up to that! Keep up the good work, man!

Sure the Steam Workshop has quite a large amount of atrocious god awful fucking maps, I agree. Just don't shit all over someones hard work when the map is clearly a work in progress, or the creator is just a novice. Hammer is a painful software to use, and it's painful for your computer to run it, ask any source mapper ever.
Well, believe me I've seen people who had their PC's grind to a halt because they either had awful visleafs making their VMF's take up half of their harddrives or they just improperly set up their Level Editor. Hammers needs alot of tweaking and fiddling if you want to make large maps. EDIT: Also Hammer has a tendency to crash all the fucking time. Not to mention, if you have a leak somewhere in your enormous map, it can be like finding a needle in a haystack.
That's what pointfiles are for. But yeah, Hammer is borderline unstable, it has tons of problems and the TF2maps.net forums are filled with reports of one-of-a-kind bugs and errors.
I mean, I'm sure every person whose map was featured in a video (without their consent) that is called 'bad maps' just to get shit on for the first map they're made is totally cool with what you're doing. I'm sure this kind of behaviour doesn't have any consequences for the slowly dwindling TF2 community.

It's painful to run if you have a Core 2 Duo or Something and less than 4GB of RAM. Heck even that is fine to make a pretty good map.
