I haven’t been able to get my hair done in over two years because of my social anxiety, but I recently followed a tutorial to cut my own bangs and it went well so I took the plunge with this and i’m SO glad i did. My hair hasn’t felt this healthy or looked this good in forever, and I feel prettier than I have in a long time. Thank you for this
THIS. This is the definitive home haircut tutorial. Thanks for explaining everything so clearly and making it seem less scary. Feels great to finally cut off 2 years worth of dead ends!!
All I want to say is if you're reading rhis comment while watching the video and thinking about trimming your hair then JUST GO FOR IT. I did it and I'm loving my hair soooo much. At first when I started I was literally shivering but then I calmed myself down and followed the video❤❤
I followed every step in this video exactly how she did it and my hair turned out amazing! I am so so happy with the results. The first time cutting my own hair and I’ll be doing it myself the same way every time now.
@@matilders1775 Mine turned out more of a U shape, but less of a dramatic U than some other techniques (no V shape!). Since you are bringing hair from the back of your head forward, the hair at the back will end up being a bit longer. I like it that way, though.
@@matilders1775 Mine came out a straight blunt. It's exactly like the girls is in the video, except it is about 3 to 4 inches shorter to start with. Came out perfectly. Cut off some dead ends and discovered that I did not cut my hair as strait as I thought I did the last time I cut my own hair. Been doing my own hair cuts since covid. They carge me an arm and a leg for a trim, I have to wait for a long time to even get into a chair and it take less than 10 minutes to do, not to mention they keep wanting to give me a feathered type style. So even with a cut that wasn't even it looked better and was cheaper than what the hair dresser does.
I just used it & it worked well! 😄😁 She really explained this perfectly, so you can tell she knows what she's talking about. ☺ 10/10 would recommend this vid whenever anyone asks for an at-home haircutting tutorial. Sooooo happy! ❤💇♀️💈
The past 5 haircuts I’ve had made me leave the salon in tears, today I finally “got” a haircut and didn’t want to cry (i loved it 😭♥️ ) thank you I appreciate the work you put into this video✨
This is the best haircut tutorial for how to do your own long hair that I’ve ever seen and done. I hope you never take down this video! It’s saved me! Thank you!🙏
Today I've cut my hair by myself using this tutorial after watching several other ones. This one seemed the easiest to follow. Thanks a bunch! I love how my hair turned out. A few tips for those of you who will try it: 1. Cut a little less than you want, because when you will try to even it out, you will cut a bit more. 2. Have patience, don't rush, make sure you have 1 hour, cause if you don't have hand dexterity, it will be a slow process. 3. Do not move to the next strand of hair untill you see the ones below are even. 4. Don't be afraid to cut. It's just hair after all. I'll definetely come back to this one in a few months to chopp off some dead ends. I like that there is not a V shape in the back, it's pretty straight. Love ❤
Giiiiirrrrllll I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO THE SALON! This is literally the best tutorial my hair came out great I was so scared but when I was done I was shocked! The only thing I would recommend to someone trying it is to wear a plain white shirt or plain light colored shirt cause i had to change like 3 times to see my hair better lol
I wanted to keep my long hair but my ends were just not it lol. I was scared I would cut it uneven but girl you made it so easy and I look forward to doing this every couple of months. Thank you so much!
Same! Trying to grow my hair as long as I can right now, and I'm scared to trust a hairdresser with it. Heard too many horror stories of long-haired girlies going in for a trim and getting a chop! Plan to use this tutorial to keep my ends in shape every once in a while.
Thank you! I was looking at my hair which is both very fine and also very thinning and thinking "Am I really going to pay someone 70 dollars to take 2 inches off the bottom?" Your instructions worked well. I just saved the cost of the cut, the high pressured sales pitch for fancy shampoo, and about 2 hours of my time. Love it.
My hair was down to the middle of my back and I was about ready to put it into a low ponytail and hand my husband the scissors. Then I found this video... Thank you! I was nervous but went for it. I cut at least 4 inches off and it looks great! This was very easy to follow and it worked!! ❤❤❤
I had my hair cut at the beginning of the year.....and then we went into lockdown. Through the year my ends just got worse and worse, regardless or masks, serums, oils....I was getting very frustrated and assumed my hair needed another trim. Then we went into another lockdown! I was really really annoyed with my hair, getting tangled all the time, it was becoming very difficult to handle (it is very long). I found your video and decided to follow it to trim it at home. Easy to follow instructions. Is it perfect? No, but my hair feels so much healthier, has a decent shape and I am really happy.I managed to do this without panicking and all in all really happy with the results. Thanks so much for the tutorial!
Beautiful hair, and these are the best instructions I have found on TH-cam. I have hair very much like yours a little thinner, almost the same length. They charge me $20 for a hair trim and it doesn't take long to trim, just the same amount of time it took you to trim yours. They always cut it wrong in the front to, trying to give me more of a 70's feathered look, which is not what I want. It has taken me about 2 years to grow the front out from my last trim. Anyway, I don't have the money nor do I want to go through the nightmare of having some one cutting my hair wrong again. I have been trimming it at home, but I have not had such extensive instruction as you have given. Thank you so much. I just subscribed to your channel.
After months of watching hair cutting videos I found one that makes sense! Followed your precise yet simple instructions and I’m so happy I finally did it. My 3 inch trim made such a difference. Thank You DN!
I am so excited to try this! I’ve been looking for a good tutorial on trimming my hair. My hair is naturally very straight. I wear it straight like 95% of the year . I don’t want to have to give myself a blow out every time if I try layers in the back. This is all i wanted in a tutorial. It’s so informative! Thank you!
I’ve been using this video these past few years to save money and not have to go to a salon, as it gets very expensive in Hawaii, and I’m getting ready to use it again today. Your tutorial is so easy to follow and helps me keep my hair looking and feeling healthy, thank you!
when she holds the hair to cut it, does she have her fingers at an angle when she cuts it or is she holding it straight down with her fingers straight?
Straight down with her fingers straight! It just seems like it’s at an angle since her hair is so long but it’s just so she can have a better view of what she’s cutting 😊
This is the best tutorial I have come across. I looked at quite a few and ultimately used this one yesterday. My DIY hair trim came out perfect. Thanks!
Finally I found this perfect method to trim my hairs. Other videos on TH-cam were little bit confusing or just too lengthy. Thanks for making this video. ❤💯
Just used your tutorial to trim around an inch off my thick hair. I didn't have the clips or comb required but I made do with hair ties, a brush and regular scissors. I cut it wet and I kept my side part during. I think it came out pretty decent for my first time cutting my own hair. Some small sections were not super even because I kept going back in and tweaking too much and I couldn't slide cut very well with my crappy scissors but the overall it looks good and my hair feels refreshed. These days I'm too anxious to go to the salon so I'm so glad I found your straightforward and simple to follow video. Taking time to make nice sections made all the difference in keeping the length similar as I went along. I will save up for actual shears and refer to your guide again for self trims. Thank you so much!!
This tutorial was great! I was nervous at first but my hair actually turned out rather good considering my sections were a bit sloppy and this was my first time ever doing something like this. I cut off a little bit more than I thought I would but it’s fine considering I was wayyy overdue for a trim. I would say my hair is slightly V/U shaped after this trim. I highly recommend this tutorial to anyone looking to trim their hair at home.
Tried this method last night on my wavy curly hair, and it turned out great!!! Best instructions out there for a simple, flattering, easy to do at home cut. Saved me lots of $$ going to a salon.
I tried this tonight and it worked. I have been trimming my hair here and there for years but this has been THE BEST TUTORIAL. Thank you, my hair looks super healthy.
Thank you so much! Im a broke college student and needed a trim before school starts. Now I can start the semester feeling fresh and confident! I appreciate this so much!
Thank you so much! These are by far the best instructions to trim hair! My hair looks so even and great! Last time I did that pony tail cut in the back for layers a long time ago…and let me tell y’all, don’t do it!. It looks bad even with curly hair like me. But this video right here is legit! Saved me a lot of money from having to go get a haircut to get rid of split ends since I’m on a budget. Thank you again!

I loved this video! It was so straight to the point, simple and had absolutely nothing to do with layers! So may videos since lockdown has geared towards layers and I prefer one length cuts with face framing. When you did this how long did it take you to give yourself this trim? I plan on giving this tutorial a go very soon when I pick up some scissors.
This is the most relaxing motivating video I've seen. I need to get a haircut so bad but have always wanted to try to trim it myself since my hair is longer than my collarbones. This video is definitely a motivator. Thank you so much for posting it!
I just used this method to cut my hair and I'm super happy with result. My hair looks like I'm straight from the salon and doesn't look like I did it myself. Thank you so much for the video 💕
instructions unclear, gave myself a bowl cut. Haha, in all honesty thank you for this! I did it during lockdown without watching any tutorials (don't ask me why I did that) and it ended up so uneven...thank god I didn't see anyone other than my family! Now I followed this tutorial it came out so much better! Trying to save money and my hair NEEDED a trim.
I started cutting my own hair after I paid for something I didn't like too many times. I started with this video and I come back and let it play while I follow the steps so I don't forget anything. I'm growing my hair so this is the best for getting the damaged ends taken care of

I have watched so many videos & this is by far the very best one! Easy and simple to follow! Trust me follow every single step and take your time! I was literally shaking with scissors in my hand but I LOVE how my hair turned out, I’ll probably never go back to a salon to get my hair trimmed again! Save your money and follow this tutorial! 💕 thank you lovely for an easy tutorial!!
I just straightened my hair and used this technique to trim my ends. I am pretty sure I got all of my split ends. This method is the easiest I have seen thus far and I am very pleased with my results. It isn't perfect, but it was my first time trying this way. But it looks so good and it was so easy. Thank you!!
This worked so well on my curly/wavy hair. Thank you for this tutorial, I loved watching my curls bounce back after cutting my fried bleached ends off!
I didn't have salon shears so i used normal scissors VERY carefully and it still came out nice! I ended up skipping the face framing cause normal scissors could never haha 10/10 tutorial, thank you so much

I have been wanting my hair cut for a while now, and so in my impatience decided to try this, it's not perfect (I've never cut my hair before) but I don't think I'll need to go in and get it corrected by a stylist! I'm happy!
My hair is sooooo fried from bleaching and I have too much anxiety to sit still in a salon chair so I cannot wait to do this. This was so easy to follow along and understand. Thank you!
Thank you so so much for this tutorial! It’s easy to follow and perfect for this mom who just can’t afford to go to a salon for a while. My hair looks and feels so healthy after getting those ends off! 💕
Super easy and very successful! This is going to save me SO much money. I was tired of paying $100+ for a minor trim. I have long hair and have never remotely considered cutting it myself. But the salon was booked for weeks and I was tired of my dead ends. I was expecting minor errors but this beyond succeeded my expectations. Thank you so much! ❤
I highly recommend this video!! This was my first time trimming my hair at home, and I was extremely nervous.. I’ve seen many videos on TH-cam on “how to trim your hair,” and this technique seemed to be simple with promising results. I’m so glad that I followed your step-by-step tutorial, because my hair came out beautifully with no unevenness at all!! Thanks girly for your advice, and always continue to slay! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for this video. I've had stylists mess up my hair so many times that I prefer to do as much as I can at home, just so I can avoid getting stuck with something I don't like. I appreciate the tutorial on how to trim my hair properly now that it's finally growing out.
This is a great tutorial. My hair is pin straight and won't hold a curl so it looks nice without layers but every stylist wants to "take the weight out@ with layers. Meanwhile people always comment that they wish their hair was as thick as mine. I don't want a bunch of choppy layers. I just want nice smooth trimmed hair. Also, your hair is gorgeous!
This is how I've done mine for years (after a lot of trial and error) and it's nice to finally see a long hair cutting tutorial! Your hair is so lush! Mine is like the amount of your first section on my entire head 😂 I don't even need to really section except the front from the back. So helpful!
I just used this tutorial. Thank you! I have a lot of social anxiety and I hate getting my haircut. It’s not perfect, but for just a trim it’ll do just fine. 😊
I'm surprised this video didn't have more views. Its great. My hair is the same length texture and color so that was really helpful. I would've been scared to cut 3.5 inches but it looks good so it's nice to see it, and i haven't had a trim since well before quarantine so i probably should. Can't wait to try this. You would think there would be a million videos like this, but there really aren't so i appreciate it
@@kiaramystique not really. It definitely wasn't straight like a ruler, it was a little more natural. It looked just like my hair did before, but slightly shorter. I think if you did big chunks it would be super straight but doing little sections made it look natural. I did it for the second time today. If we weren't all in quarantine maybe it wouldn't be good enough but i feel good with it

Thank you!! Just trimmed my hair according to your video guide yesterday and it came out great! My hair feels so healthy now 🙌🏼
I loved this video!
I live in Ontario, Canada and I haven’t been able to go for a trim in almost a year! Going to try this tonight after I wash my hair. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Best I've come across! It's the most confident I've felt giving myself a trim and the best result I've had.
This is the most relaxing motivating video I've seen. I need to get a haircut so bad but have always wanted to try to trim it myself since my hair is longer than my collarbones. This video is definitely a motivator. Thank you so much for posting it!
I tried it yesterday in the bathroom and I am so proud of myself for going with it :D hair looks noice
THANK YOU! Finally a LONG HAIR, NO LAYERS IN THE BACK, STRAIGHT HAIR (NON-DEVA-CUT) TUTORIAL THAT I CAN ACTUALLY FOLLOW!! ❤🎉
I started cutting my own hair after I paid for something I didn't like too many times. I started with this video and I come back and let it play while I follow the steps so I don't forget anything. I'm growing my hair so this is the best for getting the damaged ends taken care of
I just used this tutorial, and it turned out amazing! Like literally best at home tutorial I’ve ever tried, and surprisingly easy. I wish I could share photos!!!
I did this today and it turned out great!! First time cutting my own hair!
Thank you so much! Tried this today due to another lockdown in the UK and it looks great, all nice and even 🥰
I just straightened my hair and used this technique to trim my ends. I am pretty sure I got all of my split ends. This method is the easiest I have seen thus far and I am very pleased with my results. It isn't perfect, but it was my first time trying this way. But it looks so good and it was so easy. Thank you!!
This is by far the best & easiest & tutorial out there. I've tried this one many times & my hair comes out amazing.
This is the best haircut video I’ve ever seen. The way you showed how to turn your head to the side helped me a lot. Thank you ☺️
This worked so well on my curly/wavy hair. Thank you for this tutorial, I loved watching my curls bounce back after cutting my fried bleached ends off!
This was so easy to follow and worked so well, I desperately needed a trim and now my ends aren’t scraggly! Thank you!
Just followed your steps. This is by far the best job I've done cutting my own hair. Thank you!
This is so perfect, and I appreciate the fact that you added the face framing part. Not many videos add this in. Thank you!
I didn't have salon shears so i used normal scissors VERY carefully and it still came out nice! I ended up skipping the face framing cause normal scissors could never haha 10/10 tutorial, thank you so much
Love it! I've been wanting to try cut my own hair for sooo long, and finally I tried. I am happy! It turned out great and it is actually easy. thank you for showing how ❤
My hair is a bit shorter than yours and I’ve never cut my own hair before... but it came out PERFECTLY!! Thank you for the detailed instructions💕✨
Did this today from the back it looks like very slightly v shape loved this video
Thank you for making this tutorial! It was super helpful. It's been tough finding someone to cut my hair due to businesses closed- COVID-19 😨. but, this tutorial has helped solve the over grown hair problem. My friends will be impressed 😊. Thank you!
This video has never failed me for the past two years to teach me how to cut my hair frequently myself time and time again! Thank you so much for this tutorial! Highly recommend for beginners! Dont forget to buy proper hair clippers from a beauty store for the job! :) ❤🏆❤️
I just did this today....looks like I went to a salon!! Wow.... saved me so much money!! I will continue to do this as long as I have long hair! Thank you!!!
I just watched this video twice & trimmed/cut my own hair. Thank you so much for a full guided explanation, it’s helped a lot & I’ve saved lots of money!! It feels so healthy. Big love from UK London. I’ve subscribed to your channel too! ❤❤❤
I have been wanting my hair cut for a while now, and so in my impatience decided to try this, it's not perfect (I've never cut my hair before) but I don't think I'll need to go in and get it corrected by a stylist! I'm happy!
This was extremely helpful. The only thing i struggled with at first was the parting but after a while I got the hang of it. Thank you so much!
I just watched this video and cut about 2½ inches and it came out so good and feels 1000% healthier!!! THANK YOU!
Did this today and I LOVE it! Thank you so much! As a mom of three, it’s near impossible to get into a salon!
Thank you so much for sharing how you trim you hair. I’m trimming my hair tonight so this will def be helpful for me.
100 for a trim!! What state are you in?
@@floridagirl386 that’s how much it costs where I live too :( I’m in CA
@@sheacarter4018 that's crazy. It's 15 bucks here.
I was in dire need of a trim and my hair looks so much better. This was a great tutorial!
This is exactly how I want to cut my hair since I have long hair just like yours! Thank you for a perfect tutorial!❤️
Hey. this is a very nice technique.. tried it.. got my hair shaped like a slight U but looks really healthy and cleanly trimmed.. thank you 😘
I highly recommend this video!!
❤❤❤
One of the best tutorial videos I’ve ever watched! To the point, instructional… well done! Thank you for this!
i cut my ends using this technique and it turned out so good! just make sure to follow the instructions clearly:)
Finally, an awesome tutorial for really long hair! Thank you!
Thank you so much❤❤ this worked for me so well..the only hard part was sectioning the hair and the rest was easy to understand 1💖
Thank you so much for this video. I've had stylists mess up my hair so many times that I prefer to do as much as I can at home, just so I can avoid getting stuck with something I don't like. I appreciate the tutorial on how to trim my hair properly now that it's finally growing out.
Very clear instructions and the video really helped w/visualizing how it's supposed to look while cutting. Thank you for sharing this w/us.
We literally have the same hair length. Simple and easy to follow along. Thank you so much for this, it's truly appreciated 💗
Thank you so much. I just did my hair myself and I seriously could not be happier with the outcome. You’re the best!!
Omg this helped so much, a lot better than spending unnecessary money at the salon. The tutorial was super easy to follow. Thank you!!!
Also, your hair is gorgeous!
exactly or they want to chop it all off with thinning shears
Okay, so far iv done 3 out of 4 of my daughter's hair like this and they love it! Thank you!
I just trimmed my hair and used this video as a guide! I was nervous to cut my own hair but it came out great! Thanks!
Was it straight across in the back?
This is how I've done mine for years (after a lot of trial and error) and it's nice to finally see a long hair cutting tutorial! Your hair is so lush! Mine is like the amount of your first section on my entire head 😂 I don't even need to really section except the front from the back. So helpful!
I have only used this technique for the last year and when I can go in professionally they always tell me I did a good job with the trim!
Tried this and LOVED IT. So easy to follow and it turned out great.
You would think there would be a million videos like this, but there really aren't so i appreciate it
Was the back straight across?
@@kiaramystique not really. It definitely wasn't straight like a ruler, it was a little more natural. It looked just like my hair did before, but slightly shorter. I think if you did big chunks it would be super straight but doing little sections made it look natural. I did it for the second time today. If we weren't all in quarantine maybe it wouldn't be good enough but i feel good with it
Thank you so so much for this amazing tutorial. I cut my hair myself today with your tutorial, first time in my life, and my hair turned out so gorgeous! You’re the best, thank you sooo much 🫶🏼
Thanks so much for demo. This was the best tutorial video and method that I saw on TH-cam for self-hair cut.
This hair cut comes out Flawless every time Thankyou ❤gonna be my hair cut for the rest of my life
Thank you so much for this video! I just did this method to my hair and it’s so much healthier now! I don’t have the extra money to go to the salon so this was a nice DIY to follow ❤
I just followed this. I'm 30 and I've never had the guts to cut my hair myself 😆 It turned out pretty good! Just need the salon for my bangs. Thanks for this video!
This tutorial is excellent!! The first time I was super nervous and didn't do the best job, but I just did it a second time and it turned out SO GOOD! Thank you :) :) :)
