At 60 years old I've got to know a lot of tradesman/ craftsmen/ technicians in my work . I've specialised in bespoke kitchen installs joinery/ carpentry but had to learn electrical installation and gas installation, [ certificated ] that's after a multi skilled apprenticeship starting at 15 years old . Starting early as the schools were repeatedly on strike back then. As well as other skills. But I can say for sure your probably in the top handful of those people. Being tenacious and determined with the skills. Imo .. and that's all it is I'd say even a small garage doing maintenance/ service / repairs ...you'd do very well especially if you could train apprentices.

This reminds me of when I had to work on a 2004 Corsa C. I had to change the engine, replace the head gasket on said replacment engine and deal with all the issues resulting from the engine swap due to differences between the original and replacement engines (both were the Z12XE). Most of the work was documented on my own channel.

Firstly I’m glad they are paying Josh.. however, to add, plus the subscription they try to take again a year later, and the fault codes that don’t come up correctly sometimes, live data discrepancies.. honestly I advise anyone to buy a second hand kingbolen or snap on unit and VCDS instead of a Carly. It’s so much better value with no ongoing fees.

I learned mechanics back in 1974 and worked in a garage. I dont like the modern car with all of the sensors and vacuum stuff on them. I prefer hte older type with carbs, coils and points or electrinic ignition. More stuff to go wrong now-a-days and less room to work on an engine under the bonnet. I was a mechanical person and knew nothing avbout electronics side of cars, except for changing bulbs and the simple stuff. lol. But I could fit towbars and wire them up but now, it has to be done by professional fitters and certified / certificates produced.
@@ianallen2 I’ve met a fella that says the exact same, left the trade when all these electronics started to appear. I’m somewhat the opposite though, I wouldn’t know where to start with a carburettor

From the 60's, they starterd to bet a bit "box" shaped and then the 70's and 80's were all like shoe boxes and then like wedges. Now, they are like the same style, all perspex lights and plastic bumpers. lol.

Timing chain rattle ? When you skim the head you can’t use a standard head gasket you have to use a thicker one to match what you skimmed off
Sorted that noise towards the end, it wasn’t enough off to warrant a thicker gasket

Job well done, I had one of these and it was to temperamental it ended its life on 144k which I was really pleased with

i had this done on my corsa i had and only cost me 600 & odd with new timing chain
You should’ve changed the oil pump which is located on the timing chain cover
