I've watched a lot of other tennis teachers trying to convey this difficult concepts and none of them got to be this instructive. You have really opened my eyes and I am forever grateful to you. I wish we be able to enjoy your channel for a long, long time!
Agreed on not editing mistakes far more authentic no one acquires new skills without going through that process and you're promoting that with your honesty.
Another great example of your highly skilled explanations. In this case the Kick Serve. Step by step without too much finite details. Easy to follow and understand. Well done.
Really good coach. Explains everything very easily and clearly knows what he's doing and talks about. Really good to see that he doesn't edit everything so every server is in and perfect. It's good to show people whatever level you we all make mistakes. But hands down one of the best coaches on TH-cam. Clearly knows what he's doing.
I love that it shows the process of trying and trying to get it right! It gives the right expectation that it requires a lot of practice until you get one right and then increase the number of correct serves you get. Cheers!
Thank you for demonstrating how to kick serve from the deuce court for a right-hander .. I think you're the first one who shows us what that looks like!
Unbelievable how you fixed my service technique with your advice. Have got so many hours of tennis training in my life to end up having 35% first serves in and having generally 12 double faults per match. Played my first match after watching your videos and got a rate of 76% first serves in with 2 double faults and improved speed. Thank you so much Ryan, I'm finally enjoying playing again.
Wow that’s an unbelievable comment. I’m so excited to hear your serve improves with the advice. Thanks for letting me know and thanks for trusting me to help you with your game!!
I felt you are the best to explain a clear difference between the Flat, Slice, and Kick Serve. Thank you Ryan for this Brilliant Video. I watch before I go on the court to train my serve every time to make sure every little step progress.
I love your tutorials. Your advice and your way of teaching are helping me to improve. Yesterday, I tried a Kick Serve and I did it!! Of course I need practice :) You are a great Coach!!! Thank so much!!!
Yes!! I know. It’s not easy. I’m trying to get better at it, too! But these tips are helping me get better and I know everyone will get better using these tips as well.
@@2MinuteTennis You already know this but I love it when you gave it a few tries and not edited them out - it helps us really understand the fine-tuning process. Also loved it when you switching from left to right, because they are a bit different, and placement strategy changes.
And yes...I thought it was important to show the reality of working on stuff. I’m not a pro player. And I wish my kick serve was better. And I enjoy working on it (sometimes live during a video) 🤣
I always think to myself Jose Mourinho & Arsen Wenger were not great footballers but excellent coaches! The biggest talent a coach can have is how they explain and show a topic and make the player “buy in”. And you have that! 👍🏽 Ps I did hear somewhere that Jose and Arsene are quite good at tennis! 🤣
@@TennisWithDennis wow thank you!! What a compliment. I love coaching and trying to help players improve. I really, really appreciate your kind words or support.
I really love your videos man, helps me alot in understanding my strokes better. Love that you don't edit out the mistakes and the videos are so clear it makes it feel like we're almost there with you! So good!
Hi Ryan, I really enjoyed this video. Most coaches and teachers hit the kicker from the ad side of the court and I liked how you demonstrated it from both sides. I’ve been working on my kicker for 3 or 4 months now and I’m just really starting to feel comfortable with it. It seems easier to get the ball to kick on the ad side ( I’m right handed) ; so, I really liked you showing us how to do it from the deuce side as well. Keep up the great videos Ryan. I look forward to next one 👍
Thanks David. I appreciate the kind words. I made this video today and uploaded it about 30 minutes after. It’s fun to make the casual like this. And yes, showing from the deuce side and trying to get it to kick to the right down the t isn’t easy but fun to try. Thanks again!
It's a great move to leave the video unedited, mistakes and all. Somehow, makes it more relatable and easier to pick up points.....Keep up the good work!
Nice instruction! The tip to NOT hit a kicker at the TOP of the toss is excellent! It should be obvious for any stroke applying topspin that you need to continue the upward motion, but after playing tennis for 40+ years, it was not obvious to me until you pointed it out. 👍🏻
Hey. I want appreciate for this video. In my last match I put your advice into action and I must to say that my serve improved A LOT ! I was able to do some aces and i'm not a player to do many aces.. thanks ! Greetings from Argentina
Great video. It would be nice if you explain how to return different type of serves. I know I will never be able to learn a great serve but I maybe able to return some of these serves.
Very well explained. It has opened my eyes of how to hit different serves. Thank you! Also you need to keep your left arm for right handers tucked in to be more side on while serving.
probably the best video i've seen so far about kick serve. i took my first tennis lesson today. I'm playing for 2 years but never took lessons. I have to say, i watched a lot of videos about tennis but skip the kick serve cuz it seems to difficult for a beginner, so i focused on flat and slice. Today i said to my coach, i have to develop a reliable second serve et he tried to learn mee the kick serve (i was a little bit surprised) so here am i to watch videos about kick serve. my coach gave me the same advices as you. thanks for the video i'm gonna try to develop a reliable kick serve (in belgium we mainly play on clay so i guess it's even more a good weapon to have)...
Hi Ryan Very instructive video on the kicker. Love the style of your delivery - videos are clear, to the point & outline key things to look for in the stroke, especially in slow motion & when you pen mark certain things to look for. With you, as the coach, showing multiple attempts to demonstrate the stroke you want to show just affirms to the viewer that you’re human and that, we as learners, can can replicate if we persevere. Awesome!! Many thanks. 👏👍
You know what’s funny? People have really appreciated that. If you watch my videos you know I like to push record, start talking, and then stop the video. I’m a one take kind of guy. Haha. People have been commenting that they like seeing me miss. Lol. Have a great day!!

And instead to revert to the SLICK serve when you can’t afford to double-fault? Keep the vids coming! I would love to see one on how to defend the short angled BH slice/topspin FH. Hi Frederick. I think you misunderstood, perhaps partly because Ryan was humble enough to miss some. If you practice it enough to really get it, the topspin will bring it down safely into the court, and you should get a very high percentage of them in. Basically, for example, since many players' backhands are weaker than their forehands, you are just using a kick serve to their backhand side as a safe but challenging second serve. The topspin brings it down, and the high bounce will win you many points against players inexperienced at returning such a serve. Part of the problem here I think is that Ryan is often going for the line; i.e., he is virtually going for an ace on the second serve. There is no reason for this in most situations. Just aim deep to the backhand, and if you 'got it' (which I haven't, ha ha), you can get over 90% of your second serves in with pace and spin.
