    Listen closely to Anakin's voice. He's making a really great effort to apologise to Obi-Wan. He's totally disagreed with Council, but with this loves and respects his Master and knows, that his behaviour made him upset. He doesn't really feel guilty about what he did, but wants Obi-Wan to know, that his intentions are clear. Prequels are so underrated...

      He’s trying to repair their relationship basically. Very similar to episode 1 with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon. I love Ewan McGregor’s performance as Obi-Wan here, you see how much he loves and cares for Anakin. And it’s contrasted perfectly with him later on being horrified and heartbroken into what he becomes. Hayden is great too. It appears that Anakin feels good about the relationship but he really doesn’t. He’s worried about what they think of him. He’s concerned about his confusion and motivation for things including to power to save people from death and upset about the fact that the council doesn’t trust him.

    • @Aaron_Heininger
      @Aaron_Heininger 2 ปีที่แล้ว +53

      That's the bond student and teacher have there basically family at this point. But qui Gon jinn thought obi wan that respect for the council means nothing if they don't deserve it. After all he rebelled against them for a long time which is why they never allowed him on the council. And deep down obi wan seeing anakin doing only reminded him of his master. Which would of been a good chance to have mentioned him in this moment. And passed on Jin's words of wisdom.

    1. It's the last time Obi Wan sees Anakin before he becomes Vader.
    2. Anakin actually acknowledges his arrogance. It gives a glimmer of hope that he is strong enough not to give into it and turn to the dark side. But of course that's not what happens.

      The sad thing is that Anakin tried so hard to do the right thing. He went straight to Windu and turned Palps in, despite being terrified of losing Padme. If Windu hadn't tried to execute him on the spot, Anakin wouldn't have been forced to act in a moment of panic.

      @@darling.............. Windu was also conflicted. He certainly did not want to break the Jedi code, but he was ready to throw himself under the bus to end the greatest threat that they faced. He saw what Palps can do and how powerful he is, he also knows that outside his own personal power, he controls pretty much everything. If he had left him to go there it would have been definitely over for the Jedi and the Republic, hence also the impulsive action of Windu to try and end his life there.

    • @sciencesociety2919
      @sciencesociety2919 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@derek96720 I used to belief so but I've gotten away from that line of thinking years ago. If you had a dictator in your grasp who was responsible for the death of billions of beings through a war he engineered just for the purpose of establishing his empire, wouldn't the right thing to do be to execute him? Both Windu and Anakin (unless he was even stupider than the films made him out to be) knew Palpatine was behind the Clone Wars. The guy in front of you has committed multiple capital crimes. One could bring up due process and such but realistically, if you *knew* the guy in front of you is a career war criminal, I think most of us would agree that it'd be justified to kill him.
      One could argue that Anakin was desperate to save Padme and allowed that desperation to get the better of him (something the novelization makes clear). But that has another flaw. Anakin knew Dooku was behind Padme's assassination attempts, and that Dooku was Sidious's apprentice. Further, in the novel, he knew that Padme and Palpatine were political adversaries, and that Palpatine does not take kindly to political opposition (which he made clear by equating them to "traitors").
      But since these were Prequels, they couldn't exactly just nullify the original timeline so we get plot conveniences.

Like if Obi Wan turned Anakin back to the light but Sidious killed Yoda, or if Qui Gon survived just to name a couple. Sadly though the chances of that happening are next to zero.

He is everything a Jedi should strive to be and it’s heartbreaking knowing that he unnecessarily bears the weight of what happened. It’s why he went into exile more or less to guard over luke - that maybe if he couldn’t save anakin he could save his son. And in the end he did. It's really painful It is noted Obi-Wan does know Anakin has a thing with Padme and rather than get judgy he actually tries to understand him. He also vouched for Anakin trying to explain them why is not a good idea to send him to the chancellor to spy on him and despite Anakin's issues and behavior, he's still patient enough and still compliments for his achievements nonetheless.
    Has Obi-Wan stayed with Anakin rather than been sent to fight Grievous, maybe Darth Vader wouldn't have happened.
    And to make it worse, while arguably not fully canon now because of being related to Legends, the novelization actually demonstrates some moments when Anakin's friendship with Obi-Wan in the rescue mission actually let him see a nastier side of Palpatine, which could have prevented all the subsequent disgraces.

    In the end only Obi wan and Padme really knew he was a good person. He didn’t always do things by the book but he loved people and cared about them. If the Jedi hadn’t saw that as a problem they could’ve helped him channel that need to protect into a positive outcome.
