- One of our strategies has been buying cars from the public rather than the auction house. We have been really successful with subscribers bringing us cars. Not So much on Facebook Marketplace.

Buying a Car Doesn't Have to Suck™
People on Facebook Marketplace be like:
"Selling my car for $1,234.56"
They be wanting trades when they do that.
They want trades something that is worth more then there car.
Those are typically part outs.
Yeah that's what I've been wondering, why are there so many people on a place like marketplace or even to a lesser extent Craigslist want to part out their vehicle but not sold the whole thing getting a title can't be that hard can it?@@lancebasss3959
So true!!
Buyers show sellers no respect on Facebook Marketplace. You have to give it to the first person who shows up with the cash. A lot of people make promises and then never show, w/o even the courtesy of letting you know.
Anytime I've sold anything on Marketplace, I put "first come first serve" right in the description. I typically also am just trying to offload something so it's pretty cheap. Buyers should know it's a race before even reaching out.
I absolutely HATE Facebook marketplace. I have never seen so many inconsiderate buyers. I still use Craigslist and still have good results.
Sellers are just as bad!
WORST
@@mph5896 are you kidding me. Been using Craigslist for 10 Years now. Always had to deal with flakes that don't text back
I'm on the seller's side on this one to be quite honest. Can't trust anyone that says they are on the way with cash. I'm sure as a salesman, it has happened to you. They promise they are on the way but end up never showing. My rule is, first person with cash takes it. It sucks, but it's just the way it is these days.
You have no principles. Karma will get you in the end.
@@billybeemus3929 you are clueless
@@stevep8445 - No, I have just driven over an hour to buy a vehicle. Called the guy before leaving and again halfway there to update my exact ETA, only to have the guy tell me that he sold it 5 minutes before I got there. The guy didn't even have the common courtesy (nor balls) to call and say that he was selling it out from under the person in route. You sound like the same type of sleaze-bag to do that exact same thing.
@@billybeemus3929 principles? They same people that talk about principles are the biggest hypocrites with 0 principles in life... Karma? Hahah jesus christ these people are really pathetic.. I have flipped cars for several years and I advertised Craigslist. I show my cars in the order of receiving the calls. I have had people getting upset when I tell them I have someone on the way but if they don't take it I will call you back. I haven been able to get a car in over a year due to the demand. Dealers have an advantage of just handing over the cash and driving away whereas individuals have all the title transfer BS to deal with. I really appreciate all the information that you share.
Get a real damn job
I had a real damn job for 50 years. Selling cars was my hobby. I got to meet some real nice people and every one in a while a idiot would pop up but you have to be nice to them too.
@@bobgarrett6202i always wanted to do that.
Buy cars, and repair it and sell it back.
But unfortunately i don't have a big garage.
We tell people who ask right up front, we DO NOT HOLD CARS. It’s insane that anyone would think anyone would turn down money in front of them in hopes that they may sell it later that day, week, month...whatever.
Yep
It goes both ways on these sites so better to get the first person that comes with the money.
Facebook marketplace buying anything is sketchy. Some folks are just crooks.
Ahhh, FB Marketplace...You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
You my friend are spot on .
Nicely put! Wretched scum and villainy!
Craigslist started it all.. Facebook took it to another level of debauchery
These aren't the sellers you're looking for.
I understood that reference- Steve rogers
Last item I sold on marketplace I had 7 people on a Saturday morning tell me they are on their way. One person showed up on Sunday. First cash takes it home.
This. People calling, people coming at such and such time, people on their way...all mean nothing. First person with cash for an agreed upon price gets it.
I love how your dog looks at the camera like “Who you talking to?” And then your dog realizes your just doing a your vlog 😂 which they are great btw 👍🏻
Great Content! Keep it up. Mostly I am here because I believe you tell the truth and show your loses as well as your wins. Real Dude!
Any property around and/or near an Amazon facility become prime and the value increases. The building looks like a modular built in a factory, shipped and put together on site. My Uncle really want you to have your own Chevy dealership.
That makes no sense. Amazon facilities don't bring in customers or walk-ins. The family dollar would bring in way more customers.
@@common_c3nts how many employees do you think that warehouse has? Easy 300+, that's 300+ people that drive by daily. They can stop on lunch and browse. If your pricing is good, they will end up buying, and telling everyone. It's why dealerships are almost always on a main road with as much traffic as possible........
That’s a very high traffic area during the week.
I drive 18 wheelers OTR, and the Amazon Warehouse you see are basically the "new" super warehouses of the future. You'd be surprised how many are being built, and have been built in America over the past 5 years, it would shock you, and this isn't just an Amazon warehouse, it's a pretty standard super distribution warehouse that many major companies have invested in. These things can stretch 1/2 mile long by 1/4 mile wide, have 300+ loading docks and have 800+ empty trailer parking spots
Im really surprised that someone with your experience doesn’t know you always have to have the cash on hand when buying a car
It's dangerous. U could get jumped or someone rob you. There are fake post out there
When guy call himself Chevydude and wears a Corvette jacket you know he's an arrogant tool and has no common sense . More like Chevy Puke.
What about getting a mechanic to inspect it first? That means the sale takes more than one visit
No you don’t, I just looked at 6 cars without cash, didn’t buy any because they weren’t even close to the shape that they said the car was in.
First come, first served is absolutely correct. I picked up a Pontiac Vibe in December for $1,400. Couldn't be happier but I was definitely the first person that morning to look at it. He had 5 other people lined up. For a TWENTY YEAR OLD CAR
They say always have a mechanic look at it. Will that fly when people are in line for it?
You have to be careful showing up with cash the first time you meet. Could be a setup for them to rob you.
Then, they get the 9mm too.
@@fredbecker607_Then u get a free car._
I completely agree with the person below you bring a weapon if someone tries to jump you you harm them so they won't harm you or steal your things, unless you live in a sanctuary City then I don't know what to tell you because the district attorneys in those places are beyond corrupt.
I just went through the same bullshit on craigslist. When I sell a car privately, I always tell people who want to come and see it if someone else is already on their way. But you know what happens... then the first person in a no show. So it's kind of a no win situation. Then you get the a-holes who want a perfect car for 1/2 of it's value. Cute dog BTW and so well behaved too.
I don't know if you'll read this, but I used to live in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, home of the Acuity flag. If you get the time, research the history of it. The current one is actually the 2nd one because the 1st one fell over. But if you get the chance, go see it in person. It's incredible! Just breathtaking! 🇺🇲
You have to keep cash on hand, that’s how you succeed on Marketplace!
I think keeping some cash on hand is just a good idea in general
Wait until you buy a car with a good original title and you buy it, retail it and find out when your customer goes to the bmv to title the car you sold them has a duplicate title that voids the title you have. And you are on the hook and since you bought it from a private owner you will be screwed. Has happened to me 2 times.
Is there a way to check if the car has a duplicate title before buying it ?
whattt
The flag pole, anything above 200 ft requires FAA approval, less near an airport. I can't imagine how someone got approved for 400 ft.
That definitely looks like a modular double wide..the vents at the foundation were where they put the steel beams to slide the 2 halves together over the foundation.
I asked about a car having a clean title or not on FB marketplace. The guy went nuts and got offended. I did not buy it.
You had question why road side sellers do not like to sell to dealers. I was selling my '97 Camaro several years ago, and someone came up and offered less than half my asking. I had already done research to find the price point for the car, so I was confident I was going to sell it for a few hundred of my asking price. After some back and forth, he told me that he could not even sell my car for a $1000 less than my asking price on his lot. (He did not tell me the lot name) I sold to someone else for about $100 less than I was hoping for, but well above this guys highest offer. So I kind of have a distrust of dealers that come to the house, but if you try to buy the car somewhere near my expectation for the car, than I don't care. Spend time telling my that the car is only worth much much less, but you have cash, we are not going to have a long conversation.
As a buyer on Facebook mp or craigslist if I am going to look at a car that will draw interest I always put it into the mind of the seller that if the car is in great shape I will pay over their asking price just this simple thought has helped me buy cars. Even if I show up and others are buying I make it known that I will pay over ... these days have to do just about anything to find a good used car.
I dont understand why sellers expect people to just turn up with cash, hand it over and drive the car away. If i were buying a car, besides checking it thoroughly, i would have to arrange an inspection, do a carfax report just to decide if i want to buy it. This itself takes a couple of days. Then i would have to get my insurance to cover it, deal with all the paper work. Takes another day or so. There is no “hand over cash and take the car away”
😂😂😂😂😂😂 I must be buying all the great deals you are missing. You need to stick to the dealerships.
@@stevemcraemanager7119 Sure, you can continue buying the cars I reject. Don't forget to take cash with you.
Because that’s what makes them a private seller but as a guy that sold over a dozen cars Id go to mechanic shops with buyers in all and sometimes offer the CARFAX if available.
@@SamDaMan22 Sure, I didn't say that can't happen. My point is getting all this sorted takes a day or two. A mechanical inspection may not happen the same day. Automotive guy may not be available, it may be too late for the buyer to get a pair of temporary plates if those are needed, etc.
Why not just show up with cash?? That eliminates all the Hassel for you to get cash and the seller to wait on you.
I never go to look at a car without cash in hand.
Don't want to let people know you're a dealer and wandering around with cash. Can make you a target for robbery or mugging if people decide to track you.
I love your videos. You have enough energy for the both of us!
Pretty common with Facebook marketplace. No honor among buyers or sellers on there. I’ve arrived to a location, waited on a seller, only for them to tell me it sold.
1 day recently it was raining very heavily I didn't think the owner would want to stand out in the rain he said he would ask his wife I asked him if he talked to his wife. If they were going to show the car in the rain I would like a fair chance at it he didn't answer me I followed up then he told me he sold the car.
I drove an hour to buy a car and when i got there i literally say the car driving away and the seller wouldn’t answer his phone. Im sure he sold it to someone 30seconds before i got there 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Thats awful
_Should've popped his main car tires_
I buy used cars every once in a while, I start shopping for my next car when I leave the lot in my new car. I love to shop for cars. Facebook marketplace, Craigslist and even auto-trader are full of people who may not be scammers, but they are lying to buyers from the beginning. They advertise as if they are private sellers, but really are in business of flipping cars. A lot are people who flip cars, and really are unlicensed dealers. You can tell because every two weeks, they will have a different car for sale with the same contact cel-phone and the pictures will all be taken in the same cul-de-sac. I don't even call these douche-bags. In my state, you need a license if you sell more that 5 vehicles per year and have to have a place of business. If you have to lie to me to just to get my call, no dice. It is also my experience that most of these clowns buy the cheapest parts possible, do the minimum amount of work to get the vehicle to just present well and just really do a lousy job reconditioning the vehicle. I could go on and on. Love your channel BTW.
Sounds like you are doing the same thing
What is the best place to buy real private selling cars??
Great content as always. I sincerely wish you and mrs. Chevy the best in your business endeavor. I know with your hard work and determination you will highly succeed. Keep up the good work.
What’s up Mike & Mrs. Chevy Dude!!
Buying a car doesn’t have to suck!!!
hey DJ.
It’s 100% your fault you can’t hustle if you don’t keep a stack around the house my minimum 10k and without deposit I’m not holding it period it’s a hustlers game if you can’t keep out stay out the left lane
if it's a foreign person selling it for a cheap price and won't give you the vin, it's salvage title!
I would say that about anyone, not whether they are "foreign" or otherwise.
A lesson to learn is have some cash somewhere (alternative thinking)
I got scammed 2,300$, I have to move in with my parents now
I am on the buyer side on the whole item is sold. You always want multiple buyers, I just sold my car last month, I inform everybody it first come first serve.
Up until 4 years ago used drivable cars that were over 10 years were worth $200-$500. Minor work usually but was still turn key and drive cars for reasonable price. Not $5000 for a cavalier.. used cavalier were always a $300 car
Building looks like an off frame modular office to me. I sell quite a few things on FB. After people started no showing me, I am hold only with a non refundable Cash App or Pay Pal payment. Outside of that I am "first in wins."
I worked at a dealer next to a rail road track and it's horrible. The rail dust gets stuck on every car.
I’m on buyers side. You never actually really know what your getting into when purchasing a vehicle on marketplace. You can only see so much at first.
If you sold a chair on fb you have no problem but if slightly high ticket items especially cars or electronics it brings out all the vultures
Thumbs up for the boxer
:-) I put down a car dealership chain for not selling car for me after driving 100 miles for it. Dealer sold it to his friend who came 100 miles four hours after I came (I waited whole time).
Make Sure you put a Helium $HNT antenna on that flag pole.
Ha ha ha. I have been thinking about it. You think it’s worth it where I am? 8379 state rd 64 Georgetown, in 47122
@@ChevyDude o yes if you have that very tall flag pole get a directional antenna and point it to the city. Might not even need a directional antenna if the pole is high enough.
We watched em drag that building in, modular. Use to drive down from south of FtW to Louisville on SR3 and 62.
That acuity flag is around where I live and it's so cool. The flag itself is also insane
That is a relatively new modular home. Surprised that type of structure is being used as a business
FB marketplace seller "I do not reply to is this available?" Clueless non reading the sellers post "is this available?"
I bought a mint 95 gmc ext cab 4x4 for $900....love fb marketplace deals just gotta know what you're looking at!
I bought a 1991 Oldsmobile regency elite 98, the guy wanted $1,000 I talked him down 800, motor mounts just a little bit over $500 to put that stuff in, and it runs fine after that, I probably need some new rubber seals to cuz it's a 1991.
“Some people won’t sell to dealers” It’s not really goofy, people know dealers won’t pay as much as private parties.
Now that van is so Indiana
YOU WENT TO BUY A CAR WITHOUT CASH? THEN WENT TO MULTIPLE ATM'S TO GET CASH? THE CAR SOLD WHILE YOU WERE RUNNING AROUND? THATS 100% ON YOU
Exactly. Don't even message someone on marketplace if you don't have the cash ready.
You brought your dog with you. If something bad or unexpected happens, your dog protects you. Thank you for keeping us updated.
I’ve bought a couple of things on Facebook Market, but never a car yet. Most of the time it works out because I choose to buy things not too far from my city.
Love your Boxer sidekick.
When you buy cars on market place you need to have cash in hand ready to buy and go immediately if not you’ll just be wasting your time
I spent $600 on a cab to go to Houston to buy a car deal fell through and looked at 6 other car they all had problems so I might just finance a car at this point
what is "Loan or lien reported" on a carfax?
Normally it’s an indication that you want to make sure the title is clear and take extra precautions. It also is a symptom of another owner change possibly.
That van would make gingerbilly proud. TRUCK GANG
I’m here for the boxer baby❤️
PpI are definitely needed when going buy on their. Pre purchase inspection. To see if their is anything wrong with it. Also go see the vehicle in person to see that’s it’s real and not fake a scam. And don’t forget to negotiate.
I find cars and trucks on Facebook. There profile shows they sell alot of cars and trucks. They say they will deliver if I pay towing fee. Are there real people out there that stand being a true seller??? Please let me know. I really need a truck os suv. Thanks
I have bought and sold several on FB. Sold one as recent as two weeks ago. It is my retirement hobby. I only buy one owner, with a clean carfax, verifiable service history. Harder to find. Only sell to people with cash, 1st one gets it, meet at a secure location. Find have the people don't read the description.
"half"
I just had a few beers (6) and my instinct tells me you won't be around in a year .... Sorry , not sorry ... FAIL ,,, Your dealership that is
I already loved your channel but your goal of having the worlds tallest flag pole made me love and respect you even more!
If I cant pronounce your name im not even gonna consider buying a car from you.
I wonder if that location was ever a modular home sales site and that was the long-term sales building that they left. It would’ve had a little blacktop in front of it and all they had to do is make some more paved lot.
Why not just go to the bank and withdraw the cash?
Nowadays you deal with more shit sellers than buyers. Not only that most people trying to sell crap for 2 to 3 times the value and get butthurt when you call them out on it or offer a legit real price.
I bought 2 cars with cash on Facebook market place and the 1st one had so much garbage in it It took me 4 hours to clean the car the 2nd one had fleas and transmission issues I will never buy off Facebook agine
fleas LMAO
Something I LOVE about car dealerships is the American flag, especially when she's tall and being blown to stretch out and proudly and declaim "Yes, this is me, the banner of the Greatest Nation on Earth"!!
That location looks poor for selling cars.
Dog back there chilling lol
That is a modular home. Almost like a mobile home but built a lot better.
Ur dog: what u looking at boy im chilling😭
Wow Mike thanks 👍 for the video.I never laughed so hard as the Van conversion to a truck 🚛.
That back glass is the side glass from a customized full size van.
Why would you not keep at least 1500 cash on hand
I love that purple Tesla!! Oh no you did what to her rims lol oh no!!!
My advice is to stay small and stick to corvettes. Sell what you know best.
I think at this point I would only ever buy from a dealer. Not going to deal with all the private seller scams and additional hassle
Dealers will scam U just as much if not more lol
There are WAY more scams on the private unregulated market vs dealer market.
I checked out a ad. About a super cheap Prius. The lady said it was her husbands and he passed away and she said to protect their boat I was supposed to get eBay gift cards kind of thing scratch off the bar on the card tell her the number and they were gonna ship me the car. Your going to ship from Maine to Georgia and I got a gray car for $1000. Born at night but not last night dial there the paperwork she sent about the invoice number and everything looked exactly like an eBay one from there I went to go look it up on eBay and other places and that’s I guess it’s a known scam
That's the samething i was dealing with. Salvage and rebuilt title. I live in Simpsonville, SC.
It’s good to know that you’re also an expert in real estate. Lol.
I got a 2013 Challenger trying to sell it for $9,555 for five more hundred I delivered to you the cars on the east coast in the state of Maryland
That Town and Country isn't a 95, it's an 01-04. I imagine that is the price lol.
Yup. My thoughts exactly. They were still building the 2nd gen in 1995. That's a 4th gen.
I have bought and sold several cars on Facebook Marketplace, unfortunately many buyers on there are just tire kickers that waste your time or seem to think you are desperate to sell and they try to get you to sell for ridiculously low prices.
Had one of these experiences. He lowballed me for nonsense super low price, and he looked mad when he left since I didn't let him buy my car for such a shitty price. Totally wasting my time.
Probably a car flipper
@@Emobattlechicken172 That's what I thought. A looser car flipper POS. I still see him selling flipped cars in my local area on Facebook. Luckily, the next day it was sold to some man who just graduated from college and just got a job for a much better price.
Location location location!!!
40,000 cars passed my lot every day. One block from the interstate on hamburger row surrounded by McDonalds and all the rest. Never had to spend a dime advertising. LOCATION IS IMPORTANT!
When I retired the guy I leased it to turned it into a drink shop.
Stupid idea could have been making a half million a year!
Car dealerships won’t tell you it’s sold lol
I deal with a lot of cars on facebook marketpland motorcycles also. If someone message me saying that they are on their way. And in round I will hold the vehicle for a specified time. If they say they'll be here in 30 minutes. I will hold the car for about forty five minutes just in case. After that the next person gets dibs. Now on the other hand as a buyer you kyou need just to say. I want the car I have cash i'm not playing games i'm on my way. Don't ask a million questions. And why are you worried about a rebuild title on a fifteen hundred dollar car l o l.
How come so many people advertise cars on marketplace never reply. Is it a scam
when you ask certain questions and then you go to inspect the vehicle and its total opposite wasting my time if I ask you just say it will need this or that. Most of the people don't care about what they are selling very disappointing.
The look on the dogs face, like wtf are we doing 🤣🤣🤣. I wish you was in ohio to sell me a impala. My love car 🤣🤣🤣
There's no traffic??
That van is not a 95
more like a 2005 I think 1995 is the price not the year. I would not give anything for that.
bro you dont carry cash thats how i got the cars before ppl
I hate FB in general and Marketplace exacerbates it. Several times I've had stuff sold before I got there. Even worse is when it turns into an auction. Seller will tell me "I've been offered X over asking if you want to offer more". I just tell them I don't swing that way and move on. When I sell stuff and they tell me they're coming, I will put it as pending and tell them I will hold it just for an hour beyond the agreed time. I've had people offer above my asking while it's pending to the point that I've had to block them they were so insistent. Some people will do anything for money, I won't compromise my word.
It's quite possible somebody "overbid" you on that car. No integrity at all.
This video is all over the place. Start with a summary first of all. Introduce yourself. Who are you? What is the video about? Wasting people's time.
Ask Amazon to buy it
Saw a car online for 4 days for $400. Bought it. Sold it for $1900 in 1 day.
