Hi Ryan, just wanted to say fantastic video (all of them are) you are such an underrated travel review youtuber. I love how you hide comedic jokes in your videos, keep up the great work!
Last flew Virgin in 2020 before they went bust, and my favourite seats were row 3 X. We last travelled with a 91 year old so these seats were ideal and worth the extra $. Great videos and witty commentary. The fact you are Singaporean only adds to my interest as SG is my favourite overseas destination and I love hearing you talk. Cheers mate.
You are very lucky in Perth. Asian cuisine is top notch there. Suppose you guys have the population numbers to demand that (just like Melbourne and Sydney).
@@ryansofly It's wonderful to hear you say that. We tend to get shitbagged a little bit, but people often forget that Perth was the first port of call for many people from South East Asia and Europe, and a lot of them stayed, so we get a lot of good grub. Gotta come for some Burmese food next time you're here By the way, in Adelaide, do they still have "grill" in the food halls? Used to love that stuff, marinated meats with chips /rice/salad done fresh on the grill in front of you. All the best mate! 👍
I flew Perth to Brisbane return with Virgin Australia in Economy X seat 3 F, I agree the leg room is amazing I could just reach the seat in front while stretching my legs out.
I hadn’t heard about the Perth Airport train until now! Super happy that is running! I’ve flown the economy X product a few times now.. also once in row 3. For me it depends on the price… from BNE-SYD I believe I paid an extra $30 or so for economy X and similar between ADL-MEL.. so for that price, my motivation for purchasing X Seats - is a little added comfort and to get off the plane faster 😆 enjoyed the video Ryan
I hope that buttered popcorn didn't go stale. It's a real shame what happened to Rex. Looking at going SYD-CNS next year, and it looks like row 3 is a way to go, plus it appears going Virgin Economy X row 3 is only about $60 more than Qantas' normal economy fare. Worth the extra cost IMO based on your video.
Excellent and super informative flight report Ryan. Thanks for showing off our new rail connection to T1/2 as a long time resident of Perth it’s great we finally have super easy train line to the airport and as you pointed out wont cost an arm and a leg to get there like most other Australian capitals with airport train lines. My only criticism of the new line is its operating hours which are not conducive to the early morning rush hour at Perth Airport with so many flights especially up to the mines leaving in the often pre dawn 5-6am hour we should have trains leaving from at least 4am but preferably 3 am for those first international departures too!
Indeed... Baby steps, eh? Let start with celebrating completion of the train line. This is Perth airport, not Changi airport. Things will fall into place in time (hopefully) with the train schedules. Funny how in an airline forum where my video was shared, the members there offered the same response, doesn't start early enough.
of course you can also earn velocity points on this flight, or redeem them and they are now my preferred program so theres a bonus and their staff in general are the best of the australian airlines. The seat though looked a but squishy width wise. Another great video Ryan!
Snap! Yes I saw your stories. You know after a while, all lounge catering begin to taste the same, unless you're in KUL SIN HKG ICN... Those lounges are the bomb.
I can understand security concerns, but unacceptable shouting from a distance towards any pax unless it’s a direct safety concern to others. I wonder if you went into the lounge do they have authority to follow you? Is there rubbish / food on the lounge floor 4:40 Well done to Perth for getting a rail service in place, only the third international airport in the country to have one I believe? Melbourne might get one in a galaxy far far away 🤔 Thanks for bringing us along Ryan 👍
In my experience, PER has some of OZ's most over zealous security officers. Customs on arrivals is pretty intense as well. Must be something in the water. The short staff situation is affecting PER as well. On a quiet day like this, I counted only a handful of staff working. They could not cope with plate clearing and the like. And yes, PER is only the 3rd airport in OZ to have an airport train. Pretty telling for our lucky 1st world country eh?
Looking forward to trying Air NZ trans Tasman in a few weeks on their A321 neo, seat and bag fare so no meal or movies will have to pay for that. Will be in row 27 which has no row in front I believe :)
$15 bucks for a toastie and pringles is so hard to hear, but there are probably places on the ground where it is even more haha. Great review Ryan, Economy X is definitely one of the best value products in the sky right now.
Yep, the prices are similar to JQ. That's why I miss flying Air Asia. I totally mean it when I say their BOB menu is phenomenal, and so reasonably priced as well!
Hi Ryan, I hope you will do a review of the new planes Virgin and Qantas are getting. Apparently in a couple of month(?) ... wait what there is a train to the airport in Perth?
I have only flown once in Virgin's Economy X. Very good value for the legroom you get! Over zealous security guard I would say. Only one time have I had someone question me about why I was filming in an airport. Brisbane Airport! Told him I make TH-cam videos and he just said ok and walked away.
Perth train?! When did this come about? It has been way too long since my last visit to Perth. This train is absolutely going to make commuting between airport and Perth so much easier. As you know I have actually started shifting my interest from aviation to rail so hope to see more train content from you. Even though I fly a lot of premium classes, I have absolutely no prob with flying in Economy/Coach. Some security personnel just have a power trip. They like to push people around, make themselves feel bigger. I hope you told the security guy off and demanded an apology. Perth lounge looks immense. The Virgin lounge brekkie looks much better than standard QF Club lounge breakfast offering (not the business lounge). If only we could have the offering from MH international lounges. I'm salivating. I might seirously consider Economy X in future. Especially if I can score Row 3. Plenty of leg room. OMG the VIEWS ARE SPECTACULAR! You love your cheese toasties. Air Asia X nasi lemak and chicken rice! YUMMO! Another killer trip report.
Yes the Perth train is sooooo convenient and cheap. I'm looking forward to the lounge in Colombo, I know they'll ha e some killer curries there. Perth airport security have always been like that, and their customs officers as well. Idiots...
I suppose the price reflects that as well. JQ is by far the cheapest to cross the continent with. Longest JQ flight I've ever been on was ADL-DPS which was 6.5 hours. That was really pushing the limits.

5:13 if you're ever back in town again, KCH North Perth have a pretty decent Sarawak laksa. Lovely chicken curry flavour

Definitely my choice when flying VA in economy! Cheers...
Hope to see you back in Western Australia again soon mate,
Definitely! WA has so much to explore. I was actually looking at Xmas Islands Cocos Keeling before the international borders opened up.
I love the look of the virgin lounge at Perth it’s very colourful

Indeed, I'm sold on row 3 now. Not so much the other YCLX seats.

Yes VA is great for what it is. I fly then a lot more regularly than I do QF.

“Brekkie was decent without being excellent” 🤣 Love it! Is that like saying “yeah, it was ok I guess” lol
It was more of a "yeah nah... Nah yeah..." 🤣

I flew that exact aircraft on Tuesday and sat in 3A aswell😂 What a coincidence! Nice video, lounge food looked a bit meh

A far more famous and more well known Nobbys Beach is located in Newcastle NSW
Ha good to know! Thanks for watching! 🙏🙏

Great stuff buddy 👍
Glad you enjoyed
I booked economy x back in 2018 Brisbane to Auckland well worth it
Did they serve a meal trans Tasman in 2018?
@Ryan So Fly negative coffee and tea etc included though. Crew were kiwi just like what Qantas did or maybe still do with jetconnect
Looking forward to trying Air NZ trans Tasman in a few weeks on their A321 neo, seat and bag fare so no meal or movies will have to pay for that. Will be in row 27 which has no row in front I believe :)

When the new planes arrive, you can be sure I'll be there with a camera sooner or later.
The toasted sandwich i had today on my econx virgin flight was nothing like this one. It was like a school tuckshop variety.
Oh no! Have they changed it?!
@@ryansofly they must have. It looked nothing like the one in your vid.
Are u allowed to put baggage in that foot nook area?
Nope... Same rules apply for all bulkhead seats.
train to Perth airport for $ 5 thats much better than Sydney. and Brisbane
I have only flown once in Virgin's Economy X. Very good value for the legroom you get!

Yeah Perth had very strange airport employees. Their international customs officers are pretty intense as well! Must be something in the water.

Business Class in Australia is not worth the hundreds of dollars extra it costs.
is that a virgin a330??!
Yep, VA used to fly them to the East coast from Perth. They were also used internationally to destinations like HKG.
Tbh Virgin is very reliable and they have a good service. I am from perth lol.
I have no doubt..I split my time now between VA and QF/JQ.
Hi Ryan great video I understand what you do the Jetstar for the points but for me Jetstar have no entertainment so very boring
