For years I have tried my hand with Blender and never could make anything. And suddenly with the new Blender 2.8, OMG I am able to follow tutorials for 2.8 that *Actually* work and can follow through with a result that puts a smiLe in my fAce. SuPeR amaZinG :)

The bouncy spline thing was something i wanted to do since at least 4-5 years ago, i just never bothered to research it until TH-cam recommendet this to me. Thanks a lot :)
There is no bouncy part as in “physical bouncing”, but there is the filling in the mesh with splines. To add bounce you could add a cloth sim to the letters with a rubber type setting if you’d want to 😀
you could animate the splines by useing the start and end values of the splines, keyframe them with an offset (and maybe add the cyclic modifier in the graph editor). Then use the "bouncy" interpolation mode on your keyframes. That should give some interesting results.
Great tutorial. Humor and blender usage are outstanding. I had troubles with several fonts not giving hardly any Bounce Spline. I then tried it (Blender 3.6) using my re-topologized version of Arial Black. Worked like a charm. Arial Black as is with Blender failed. We all know how badly Blender seems to convert Text to Mesh. Great effect. THANKS!
May sound silly, but for a newbie it is important and that is using the yellow highlighter of your cursor as well as your cadence. Some of the gurus fly through their tutorials at such a pace that it is ludicrous as a new person - so thanks!

This was the first video that popped up when searching for animated title examples. Dude. If I get so emboldened, I might even pour pasta sauce over it. I did have to uninstall my 2.92 version and go back to .80 just to ensure everything was where I could follow along, but as a trainer myself, I compliment your flow, cadence and attention to detail. Don't stop doing what you do, you're great at it. There was ONE step where you didn't narrate how to get to dialog window, and just as I thought to myself 'how the hell..."... you popped up the answer in text :-)

I dont know why it isnt working. It works with a cube but not if I convert a text into a mesh. I only get one single line if I create a bounce spline. Help?

Awesome tutorial Question. I have one letter that for some reason still renders a thin black "bounce spline" tracing that's visible. every action is being performed as expected but you can still see a thin black wire tracing the letter. any Idea why?
When I apply the spline bounce to the word doesnt happen anything.. in others mesh like a icosphere it works normally.. someone have any idea what can i do to fix this ? thanks!!!!
Oh yeah, you want to hide the letters OR give the geometry of the letters a transparent shader with NO roughness so it has no shine. Try that and see if it helps!
You can go into graph editor and expand the information. I need to check in 2.83 but it should be there. You can then play with the keyframes to make it faster or slower.
In the text area on the properties panel there’s an area for fonts. You just select whatever font you have from your fonts folder. They mostly all work. Does that help?

That’s really strange. Try adding a key frame at 1, then move your timeline to the end, and insert another key frame and see if that’s still happening...
@@KevBinge my camera no longer moves when in lock to view. I've done this project more than 10 times and this is the point that nothing works right. My camera shows animation but it doesn't animate like the tutorial. The key frames do not set as the tutorial does
I think it was called “Luckiest Guy.” You can change the font in the right side panel for properties. You just navigate to your fonts folder and choose whatever font you want to use 😀.

Hmm... strange that I didn’t see this or I would have responded much sooner. Are you using each letter as a separate object or are they all one object? Separate objects works better for this and lets you control the string ones on a per letter basis.
@@KevBinge Separate objects. Once I did it, everything was done as it should. But all the following cannot be repeated. By the way, on the same topic, and if a similar wire does not draw letters, but draw a logo?
Quicktip for anyone that gets this issue where when you try to move the camera view and it seems to move SUPER slow instead of what you are used to. Select an object and press PERIOD on your keypad. This will snap the camera controls back to its senses. This can be done in any view, be it in the normal viewport or when watching through the camera with "Lock Camera to View" on.
Thanks! Actually, the spaghetti (I’m hungry now... thanks... lol) is on the interior if you use the bounce feature. When you hide or delete the polygon text you’ll see that it fills it. Did I understand your question correctly? Thanks!!
Are you using 2.8, also, did you separate the letters? Did you make a polygon mesh out of the letters too? Missing any one of those steps will cause wonky results.
That's one reason I hate blender with deep passion when I watch one tutorial and try to practise when I do one thing it does another. I bought a hp core i7, 1 terrabyte hp envy laptop but its over 7 months since I opened blender everything about blender sucks
I wouldn’t hate on Blender per se. I think this tutorial is now very outdated based on a few things they changed. I need to dive in and see what’s going on. This was in 2.8, and we are now in 2.92...

how come when I add the area it doesn't light up? Is it because I didn't put a "floor" under the text and left it floating?
It could be. The shader for the letters is an emission, so if that light doesn’t hit anything else then it’s just letters.
