Metal Detecting is a good way of chilling out, its a good bit of therapy, fresh air, long walks. Its also a bit like those unboxing videos you see on youtube because even though you have an idea of what's buried below your feel you're never really sure. I love watching people such as:

I've been Detecting with Deep Digger Dan during his digging the coast 365, that was fun. I used his XP Deus... Very light. I started out using the Garrett Ace 250 and then added a Nel Tornado coil. After that I started using a Nokta Makro Kruzer and some how managed to find so much more on land I thought had been detected to death. Silver coins, WWII badges and bullets and down the beach I've even found GOLD and Silver Rings. In my latest video I've finally found a Roman Coin and A Saxon Strap End. Great info on depth of objects, I use the Nox 600, I'm always using park 1 unless at the beach as I have come accustomed to it.
Now I wish we could see the 6 inch coil so we could see just exactly how deep the coil will go. I think we would all be surprised. Maybe something you can do in the future , going back to the nox again and doing small coil and the large . By the way your videos are great 😃

great job building that bucket, only issue is the way the coil faces different directions for different depth numbers, perhaps across sideways is the best, but not all depths get that treatment. Thx for video!
It is in tracking GB Wavy line top right of screen. I always use Field 1 , As i do a lot of old rig and fur fields . interesting test cheers for sharing .

I think you would get even better results if you had a way of making the other holes solid. You've got 7 air gaps in the centre of the coil and the nox hates air between it and the target that's why it loves pasture. Have all the holes filled just take out the one at the depth you're testing I bet it will register deeper

Hi Aaron mate, I made one of them dirt boxes, but I just used a soil pipe, worked great..
I am of the opinion that multi is not brilliant, if my Ace 400i with the Mars 15 inch coil can hit a small hammy at over 12 inches, I am happy.. and I think there needs to be other stuff in with the soil, to represent natural conditions. I personally do not use this test anymore. nothing wrong with it, but would sooner test in the field.. but something to do in the lockdown...LOL

@@SouthCoastDetecting Hi Aaron mate, yeah its a bit of interest, Just a tip if you want to use it..
Set the machine up in the settings you would use in the field, think you would get a better idea of genuine performance.. Like to me, the Apex is bloody over sensitive, you cant run it in full sensitivity and multi, the bloody noise out of it drives you nuts....LOL unless its my permission...?

Hi , you have the ground balance on auto. If you pass a small target through too many times the auto will try to ground balance it out.
Hi Aaron was just wondering if you had noise cancelled ? I never get that much chatter with my 800.

Like your entertaining videos , but there's no way you'd dig most of them signals in the field..just got rid of my nox and gone back to the orx for simplicity...

great vid, sensitivity is too chattery, hardly any of those signals are diggable, and personally I hate the tones on park 1, stick to 2 tones and create your own program is the way forward, defo stick to Recovery 1 though, my tests were conclusive of more depth, you just have to go swing slower.

Brilliant stuff. But then try with magnetic soil in the ‘box’. Will really limit the depth. But which mc handles it better? Whenever human activity occurs the soil tends to be magnetic because fires make the soil magnetic, iron rust from thousands of objects is in the soil and naturally occurring mineralisation of iron oxide. The Nox will struggle to get 8” in magnetic soil and the others worse (or will they?)
Also make sure when you put your ‘thing’ in the ‘box’ it is at right angles to the detector head. Might have to turn the detector for each depth test. 👍👍👍👍 also try out the GPX 5000 if you could borrow one.

Hi Aaron. Nice to see you on a local spot. Thought I'd do well here but didn't have much luck at Portchester castle. Found the clay and rock mineralization played havoc with my detector. You'd think there'd be loads of relics here though given the history. Tough ground though.

Seeing this video I don’t think anyone would dig the 18” inch penny on the sound and VDI as shown. Taking in mind walking and swinging over in a normal way on a field. Based on sound and VDI readings in this video it should be:
Penny = ±15”
Half penny= 13”
Silver 3 pence= 10”
Roman coin = 12”
Silver men ring= 13”
Gold ring = 14”
Then deduct 1 to 2 inches as no one is shuffling it’s coil flat on the ground all day as most fields do not allow this to. And the resistance is to high to do this all day on the pasture and beaches which do allow, so a bit more realistically the 'in the field' numbers would be more like (which is not bad at all):
Penny = ±13”
Half penny= 11”
Silver 3 pence= 8”
Roman coin = 10”
Silver men ring= 11”
Gold ring = 12”

It’s a test... just a bit of fun...there will be a leaderboard and ALL machines are tested in the same way. It’s just for fun.

Turn the sensitivity down to a level that u would actually be prepared to use the thing...then you may get more realistic results...no one could live with that level of chatter...
Hmmm of course its not imitating actual depth in soil as your dirt box has pockets of gaseous elements to caused by all those lengths of pipe displacing your soil, ahem ! anyway as long as its the same for all your tests then should be good enough 😉
