“Horses are unfit for modern warfare.” Leontus, Attilans and Kriegers: “Fuck that, we ball!”
Against Tau and necron hover vehicles or Eldar jet bikes yeah you have a point
Honestly, trained horses are still a better answer to many modern problems than what is in current use like motorbikes, jeeps and such. I've spoken about this with some soldiers (including war vets) and the general consensus has always been that they are not in use because no one is really interested in risking their career with an idea that will invariably sound stupid for the first two minutes of explaining it.
Now, put simply, horses, camels, donkeys, dogs and birds of prey all could be massively useful if used in large scale in modern warfare.
Dogs and birds of prey would be passive enhancements to perception and a huge asset in countering mainstays of modern warfare such as drones and landmines. We can all see the benefit of having a soldier that will just go and crash any drone near the squad by clawing it at 240 miles an hour (say, a peregrine falcon), all for a salary paid in raw chicken. Furthermore, a trained dog can potentially alert about landmines from dozens of yards away (even hundreds for IEDs with particularly strong smelling explosives). Not to mention that for the price of a rifle you can get a dog that will be nearly as reliable as a thermal camera in Urban CQB situations.
As for pack animals (horses, donkeys, camels and water buffaloes), they would offer the average squad the capacity to carry very serious firepower over great distances with minimal increase in detectability when compared to motor vehicles. One horse per human in a 9 man squad means running around at 40 miles an hour in rough terrain while being able to carry, say, an M2, 2 NLAWs, a Javelin, a bayraktar drone, a heavy mortar and additional supplies. Before you ask, water buffaloes can be mounted and they have been used with great success by Brazilian Military Police to chase criminals in swampy areas since they are way better swimmers than humans are.
To summarise, it's prejudice from higher ups and (legitimate but weak) moral concerns that prevent this.
@@Yumao420 True they are ultimately just one of many tools usable on the field if properly utilised and used for an proper role. I was simply making a joke about how previously mentioned fictional groups use them effectively for style or as if it was on 1600s
@@Historyfrek4ever absolutely fair. It was a good joke
@@Yumao420 Actually now that it has come up, it is weird that we have effectively abandoned use of animals in military except dogs. There have been cases of trying to utilise others but those have been really experimental like spy dolphins etc.
Norn Emissary: Who the hell is this space mari-*Dies*
Edit: To be fair, I know this kinda undersells the Norn Emissary. But hey, don't take it too seriously.😁
That one Custodes: "Damn Bois! This new Xenos really make me sweating... some of our brothers died because of it by the way"
The Norm Emissary actually killed multiple Custodes before Valoris killed it, so they are actually (for now) treating it as a actual threat
Custodes : sneeze
Whole tyranids super weapon section : Dies
@@orange8420If I remember correctly, it killed a whole squad of Custodes while simultaneously trying to murder Leontus, and almost succeeded. However since it is a Tyranid, it is not armed with plot armor, hence it was killed by a named hero of the Imperium.
That's kind of underselling the emmisary when it killed 5 other custodes, destoryed a Custodes gunship and accidentally flattened a dozen of Leontus's mortal bodyguards while barely even diverting it's focus away from Leontus
"A guardsman's duty is to die. My duty is to send them to places where they can die. I am not afraid to spend men, but I never waste them."
Unfortunately only castor gets to be that badass.
Lives are the Emperor's currency. To waste them is heresy.
Not to mention when he was defending sanctuary from the nids he personally went to various guardsmen posts which due to his ability to win over soldiers was able to negate the shadow in the warp
It’s kind of like that meme where it’s a depressed guy and he’s like “the Tyranids are upon us, we are cut off from the rest of the imperium, how many more days will we be able to hold them off before they rip us apart? And the next panel is “OMG Leontus!”
Having a man second only to the Emperor and his sons show up to tell you good job is as good as a morale boost can get.
@@AParticularlyConcernedCitizenehh an entire company of firedrakes
You know shit has hit the fan when 120 terminators led by Tu’Shan Arrive but you know they are going to protect you to the last
Now I need someone to make this meme
Its crazy that the Norn Emissary could have tried to assassinate either Leontus or Valoris. It went for Leontus. They saw him, the normal dude, as a bigger threat than the leader of the Custodes
THE GALAXY WILL FALL BEFORE THE GUARD!!
Just as likely that it undertood it had no chance at actually killing Valoris, as we know he did kill the emissary
@claytonthegrubkiller6430 it killed multiple Custodes before Valoris killed it alongside the couple other Custodes still alive
@@thewerdna Valoris is a named character though, we all know they get an free 100x power boost compared to anonymous characters.
Not really. Leontus is an incredibly talented and skilled leader with hundreds of accomplishments under his belt and a powerhouse of a strategist and political figure.
While Valoris no doubt surpasses Leontus in many ways. Leontus is a stable leader who is more specialized for the types of battles the Tyranids needs to fight than Valoris. Plus Leontus’s death would have a wider impact than Valoris.
If Valoris died than only the Custodes would’ve been affected significantly. The average Imperial soldier would’ve just become slightly more depressed than average.
If Leontus died that’s a massive power vacuum liable to start heaps of in fighting and civil war that the Tyranids can exploit.
Also, if you have to try to kill a half demigod super soldier or a human who’s a really good leader. It’s obvious who’s the easier kill.
You already got the title of the Greatest Badass in the galaxy when fucking Valoris himself got your back
And the fact the tyranids were more worried about this human rather than banana boss
Sly Marbo the one man army tyrannid Hunter extrodinaire would like a conversation
Ah yes the Reincarnation of karl franz
SUMMON THE ELECTOR COUNT

Even his custodes guard is very similar to Franz personal body guard the sword of the emperor.
Then there's Guardsman Sly Marbo, who hunts Tyranid Lictors for sport
the 40k chuck norris
Yep strictly catch and release :p
Sly Marbo would have took out the Norn without breaking sweat infact the Norn would have been trying to hide from him
Nah, lictors are the things that annoy him by triggering his traps meant for hive tyrants
He probably would be a great warrior except hes born in the age of 1000 year old killing machines
Luther moment.
Not to mention he fucks on the tabletop, most officers can only order 1 maybe 2 units of a specific type, but Lord Solar can order 3 of ANY Astra Militarum unit. He's almost an auto include in any guard army, and 100% IS an auto include in any tank heavy guard army...
Yeah, been debating on getting him or Lion, but I'm thinking I'm gonna go the Solar Route. Model is absolutely sick as well
@@blahblah3775 grab a command squad to pair with him if you don't have one already. If they're both attached to the same unit, Leontus can use the master vox and increase his order range from 6 inches to 24
I bet he's gonna steal Girlyman's eldar GF.
Nah, he doesn't have girlymans huge 'progenoids'.

Nice reference
It's a pity that the "Eyes of the Emperor" was only mentioned in a few lines. There should be a novel or even just a short story focusing on them.
Because tbh its kind of a meme that dude taller than 3 men can be sneaky secret agents
Respect to the Emmisary tho. It managed take down several Custodians before the Banana Boss himself got involved.
It really only killed them because they were in the way, imagine if it was after the custodies and just them.
Don't forget while campaigning for support against the hive fleet, he couldn't just order resources to be at his disposal like a primarch would, and he didn't have the perks of transhuman intimidation etc. he won over nobles, knights and governors with rizz alone.
He had the IG ressources of an entire segmentum tbh (and segmentum solar at that, the strongest most populous most controlled segmentum in the imperium)
Another reason he's so good is also his ability to ask for advice from others, I think it's said he has dozens of advisors from a variety of fields. Oh and being auto included in Guard list because being able to give orders to any unit type is strong.
Poor Norn didn't realize death incarnate was guarding his target
Norm Emissary: You can’t beat me.
Leontus: I know. But he can.
Trajann Valoris: *charges bug at mach fuck you*
The most dangerous opponent in 40k is a single guardsman because guardsmen never die alone.
Not to "um ackshually" but "Lord Solar" isnt the highest rank in the guard, thats "Lord Commander Militant" who is a High Lord of Terra and oversees the entire Militarum, below them are the five Lord Commanders of the five Segmentum of the Imperium. One of those is Segmentum Solar which is terras segment and has its imperial guard forces governed by the "Lord Commander Solar" who as of M42 is Leontus.
do the other four sectors have equivalents
@@bibitybobityIownnoproperty Yes they do, cant link the source on youtube but if you search up any of the ranks you'll find it.
@@fionn2220it’ll be the same Lord Commander Obscurus Pacificus and so forth it’s same for the navy
He is basically a 5 star general of the Imperial Guard. Which is already pretty cool
Imagine how much of a badass you gotta be that the Nids made a new bug just to kill you and not only that but they completely ignored the custodes that were there to protect him seeing the Lord Solar as more of a threat
I think that has more to do with the "programming" of the Emissary more than anything. It's designed to go after a psychic scent, of sorts, and not stop until the target is dead. Which is what it tried to do here, but the Custodes got in the way.
The crazy thing is that it didn't really care about the Custodes and still managed to kill 5 of them while it was rampaging after Leontus and basically only attacking if they got between it and its target. That's the kind of monster the Hive Mind designed to takedown Leontus and other Imperial Leaders/Heroes, so yeah, it absolutely sees him as worth killing.
A Norn Emissary probably doesn't see Custodes as massively threatening anyway, it took a squad of them including Trajann Fucking Valoris to take it down and they lost several Custodes and a gunship, among other units, in trying to do so.
I'm honestly rather fond of Leontus. I do like Space Marines, enough, but in typical Rogue Trader fashion, I appreciate seeing what the epitome of a human is still capable of, without surrendering that humanity to become something more. I also did want a legitimate mounted Guard HQ, abd this is close enough. Macharius themes are also dope!
Trajan Valoris!? Tf was he doing there? MAJORKILL I DEMAND A VIDEO
Helping against hive fleet leviathan. Leontus and Trajan fought side by side.
During the fight. The norn looked at trajan. Then at leontus. Then back at trajan. And then it went for leontus instead. It saw leontus as more important.
And this was after it slaughtered 6 custodians and took down their gunship
Would love a full length video about this guy!
When you have the single best body guard ever
The president of the United States wishes he had a bodyguard like this dude's got
The man had the same level of swagger as jaggathai and sanguinus
Bro what do you mean this normal human has THE high lord of terra, the captain general himself as his personal fucking bodyguard
My brother heard this video and immediate said
It’s unlikely they created it specifically for him, they just finally had it in stock
I love how in 40k there are humans that do just as if not more than what the primarch were capable of
Which proves the emperor right in trying to hand the imperium to normal humans
(One of the biggest reasons why most of the space marines turned traitor is because the emperor was giving power to normal humans who they saw as weak since they have not shed blood to gain territory which is stupid cause solar auxilia)
There are no Humans who could match 10% of a Primarchs abilities. Sure some of them kick ass, but comparing them to a Demi God, son of the Emperor is just silly. In a Battle simulation, any Primarch could easily win in 99.9% of the encounters…
@ezonplays2260
Well, that's sort of what the justification used by the Traitor Son's of Horus to corrupt many of them was. But really I don't think anyone but idiot's like Abbadon believed it. The Emperor invested a significant amount of resources into the Legion's and they would have been important at every aspect of the Imperium's development until humanity itself ascended.
At some point in Horus Rising Loken discusses this and basically comes to the conclusion that while the Astartes are only intended to fight in the Great Crusade, that war is never going to actually end. He also thinks they should give over the reigns to humanity as a sort of fulfillment of their purpose I believe, and comes into conflict with Abbadon over how he treats "mortals" on occasion.
The Traitor Primarch's definitely used those sort of sentiments to turn a large amount of followers to their side though. The Loyalists all tended to see their true role as protector's of humanity, not leaders.
This is why Fulgrim is such a sad narrative, because he truly believed in the Emperor's vision and trying to help Mankind become "perfect" but ends up getting fucked by a single bad choice.
@@ezonplays2260
But a side note, the Emperor intended Humanity to become post-human themselves, He just wanted to ensure they had a safe, controlled environment to do so.
Humanity was apparently on the cusp of a psychic apotheosis during the DAoT but ended up getting fucked by the Birth of Slaanesh.
So by the removing their reliance on the Warp through the Imperial Webway and weakening Chaos itself in the meantime, the Emperor was hoping Humanity evolved into something like Him and His Son's.
The in-universe reason for why some people are just better in 40k is due to their Soul and their nascent Psychic potential. A really amazing leader might have a very bright soul and almost reassures their army on a metaphysical level, this might also explain seemingly superhuman physical or mental feats, and it could also be why they survive and so many other's fail. The Emperor Himself might also take notice of these individuals and protect them where possible, with some individuals becoming Imperial Saint's (which are like Greater Daemon's of Order) because of their connection.
It's interesting, because you can already see some human's seeming to evolve in the lore.
Dude shows up in Roman centurion gold armor and the Roman Emperor's crown
Bro these bots in the comments are wild💀
I know right
They really begging for subscribers
Would be cool to get a video on Trajann Valoris
crazy thing is that on the tabletop he can 1v1 terminators and win
The justaerin commander shitting himself as he sees a normal human slicing through his elite terminators
Mean while in war hammer guardmen units Delete space marines like you eating a cupcake when you give them grenade launcher
Why not talking about our lovely big bois Ogryn
That would be wholesome
The only life expectancy lower than that of guardsmen is someone fighting a named ultramarine.

Do a video on the chief librarian from each legion.
Whoever comes up for the names for the shit in 40k needs a massive raise like the Norn emissary fucking also name
When a named lord solar get appointed, you know shits about to get done.
When you're competent enough that Trajan Valoris decides your worth protecting, you know you got it.

You can't have a more baddass name than Leontus.
Yoooo, nice, you're the best Major!
Je olde bale eye, may the emperor guide his soul
And in the evergrowing list of people the Tyranids hate specifically: This guy.
Yeah if Macharius was the Alexander the Great of 40k then Leontus is the Napoleon.
And let us not forget his baller helmet.

I dig the "Ogryn in golden armor" esthetic very hard.

i use the original lord Macharius model with some mordian guardsman that i kitbashed into a command squad as Lord solar leontus
Your such a Chad the top warrior alive personally guards you.
Yoj know you make it when Trajann fucking Valoris is your bodyguard
Yeah he slays....no raincoats in 40k. Raw dawg. The elysium stormtroopers killed many word bearers in duels. They are fast and carry big booms.
Trajan Valoris and a couple of Custodians, were the Custodians die because they tried to prove a point og how strong the Norm emissary is...
Leontus: Some of you may die and being hinest most of you should
It’s said that the only time he will cry is if Sly Marbo dies
The issue is you can’t just kill Sly Marbo
They don’t call it the Imperium of “MAN” for nothing.
Warhammer 40k with shadow of mordor nemesis system would be a dream come true

I don't understand the 40k lore all that much, but it seems like all the characters in 40k named after the Roman Caesars of old are complete badasses. Trajan and i do recall there is an Aurelian somewhere in the lore thats also a badass.
Is there anyone else?
*The only thing I ever held against TTS was never mentioning Trajann Valoris...*
Oh Karl Franz is back
*Cybernetic naying intensifies*
Very interesting, Trajon Valoris next
You know the hive mind is super confused on why that didn't actually work. 😮
Leontus is descended from Karl Franz!
Cool
This is probably what Malcador said and means about Imperium must be rules by "man" instead of some artificial demigod. Karlz Franz of 40k.
Ha literally like Thor and Hela
“You can’t kill me!”
“I know that’s why he’s here!”
*Trajann drops from a transport with a Custodes squad*
“This………..this should be FUN!”
Funny how the lord solar actually freaked tf out a bit when encountering the norn emissary. I may be wrong but he struggled a good bunch before Valoris pulled up. Fun humanizing moments
Yeah. He fumbled his sword for a moment due to a strike to his head. It showed he wasn’t perfect.
I also love how. He personally rode back and forth to give inspirational speeches and to rally the people. He knows what it is to be a guardsman and knew morale was important. He didn’t hide away.
You should make a video about Trajan Valoris
Can we get a scene of a Norn Emissary killing Celestine over and over again?
I miss Ursakar Creed for Infiltration of Anything and The Fortress of Arrogance for Yarrick.

I bet Leontus himself is a descendant of Macharius himself.
I love karl franz i mean leontus
Then he probably is a worthy succesor to solar macaris

It's a a Shame what they did to Trajan Valoris and to custodes in Warhammer 40 Combat Cards.
Ok let's be real here in a fight Trajan Valoris would wipe the floor with Guilliman.
