I had an odd eyed white cat (white with one blue eye and one gold eye) who also had a silent meow. These white breeds are frequently deaf- which mine was- so that's why he was silent. You might have a cat who is hard of hearing which could account for that. I'm glad he's loved!!!

I had a 5 year old black cat literally show up on my doorstep late one night. I posted his pic in the neighborhood asking if anyone had lost him. I got to where I hoped my phone wouldn't ring and it be a neighbor. After about 10 days, I named him Norton and we were best buddies for the next 12 years. Not a day goes by where I don't think of him and smile. So glad you posted this about Manny. Black cats are the best.

I had a black cat with green eyes. I loved her so much! She passed away in 2017 from cancer. Clients of my mom's threw her outside in the middle of winter when they divorced and left the house. She had always been in indoor cat and was declawed. We found her when we went to their house, took her home, and never looked back! She was with us for over 7 years. ❤️🐾

@@zullyashergo8876 I know. It was so sad. The people left a big bowl of water and food outside with her, but it was below freezing out. So everything froze! They lived in a huge house, and my kitty was hiding under one of their decks out back. Some people are heartless and only think of themselves!

I have always had so many black cats through the years - they are my favorite. My newest addition is a black rescue kitten from Florida. He was a sick little guy that came up after a hurricane. A year and a half later he is doing great and now living a charmed life in OH:) Thanks for taking such great care of Manny:)

My mother told me stories of how he would curl around me, very protective and enjoy the bottle when I was finished:) I agree with you, I think they own us. That little paw lift is adorable. One of my cats also has IBD - he won’t eat his special food if I put it all in a bowl (but his brother will be there in a heartbeat to hoover it up!) so instead there’s a container of his biscuits on the coffee table. When he wants some he’ll either tap the tub with his paw or come & rest his paw on my hand. He has me very well trained as his food servant!

Awe, when my Tiger girl wants treats she'll lay beside me on the arm of the couch and place her paws on my arm! Animals have such a cute way of communicating! 😻
Get him off the canned food ASAP! My adopted cat had tons of issues and the day I pulled her off canned food & onto dehydrated/human grade (boxed, add water) she completely healed! An herbalist gave me this simple advice & it worked. My cat also loves an avocado every night.
@@harveyplantharvester1502 he’s not on canned food. After consulting with 3 vets he’s on a special dried food that his system can tolerate. Three years on & he’s in really good condition, his weight is steady & his general health is excellent.

@@sroycze9284 Smoke is 7 years old. Mixed in with my black kitties were 1 calico, 2 tuxedos, 1 short haired tabby and a tabby Maine Coon. I rescued a tuxedo (found injured on my mail route) and we adopted the rest. (With a lab and 2 Great Danes). 😃

In my experience, cats live 20 years or so, unless overtaken by accidents(cars or predators) or disease (cancer or other).
WOW, I'm on my 3rd black since the early 80s too! I've learned so much about nutrition (dehydrated, no more cans or kibble ever again) and stay far away from vet shots & drugs - no need for visits with this one, exercise 3 times a day. I'm aiming for this 3rd one to go into the Guinness Book of World Records for oldest.
While we were dating, my first wife raised a black kitten from two days old. He was an absolute joy for us (and in truth I miss that cat more than her). My parents had a very large black longhair and a few years later adopted a small black kitten who never grew more than six pounds; sitting next to each other they looked like the large primary systems cat and the smaller emergency backup cat. Black cats are wonderful and I would definitely adopt one!
Funny that because when i finally dumped my ex, i made sure i got MY two
black cats. She could have had everthing else but Ella and Squeak were
mine and staying with me no matter what. I still have squeak but i miss
Ella infinitley more than i miss the ex. In fact i have tears of sadness

I had a black cat to. I named him Casper. When I adopted him he was 18 months old. He had spent all that time in 2 shelters. He was really one introverted cat. He was so scared of everything. I had him for 8 years before he passed away. He is missed greatly. I feel that just because a animal has black fur that they sit in shelters for a long time. If no one adopts them, and the shelter gets full, they put to sleep. My heart still greives for precious little Caspercat.

I absolutely love my little 13 yo girl kitty who is the 3rd black cat that has been part of my family. My previous 2 are OTRB for many years but the memories of their loving personalities are forever! Thank you so much… I rescued a little black kitten in the year 2000… and I just a few days ago, finally had to say goodbye. He lived for 23 amazing years…. And it wasn’t until last month that he started to slow down. Three days before we had to put him to sleep he started to lose function in his back legs and couldn’t stand or walk… I didn’t want him to suffer like that for any extended period of time, knowing that it was already the end. He was my best friend and the most amazing family member anyone could ask for. Thank you so much for adopting a black cat, as a lot of times people kill them because of superstitions. He’s very lucky to have found a family with you guys. Blessings to all of you.❤🐾

I'm in tears watching this - Manny looks just like my precious girl Mia. She was in the shelter for almost a year - actually moved to a second shelter. I called the shelter about a different cat I had seen in the paper and twice when my call was transferred, they thought I was calling for (my future) Mia who didn't have a photo in the paper. I took the hint from the universe and figured she was the one for me.....and she was perfect for me! She also had IBD and food sensitivities. We had the strongest bond. Sadly she crossed over last year unexpectedly and I've been heartbroken ever since. I'm not able to have another cat in my life right now (circumstances) which likely contributes to my missing her so much.

This is the wholesome video I needed to see today! 💕 I recently lost my special-needs, black cat baby & I miss her so very much. Seeing precious Manny 😻, who clearly has an incredible bond with his Mum, who loves him so dearly, live the life he deserves, is truly wonderful. They are raising awareness for how wonderful black cats are, and will hopefully encourage others to adopt them, as well. Because black cats & black dogs are the least adopted from shelters. And when people ignore them, they really are missing out on the greatest friend they could ever hope for. I can't even think about getting another cat right now, because I am so, so devastated, but like Manny's owner, if and when I do, I will be looking for another black cat who needs a home. Thank you for sharing Manny with us! I loved to hear all his different & expressive meows!

That’s what I did. The first kitty I saw was a regal sitting black cat who sat watching all the people walk by, but not stopping in front of his cage. He was the first kitty I saw and knew right away, this one was for me, God sent. His tag said he was a laid back kinda dude.
I adopted him the next day because I was there on a Sunday and had to wait until Monday. He was sent to the vet for a check up and I brought him home 2 long days later. He’s 11 😊yrs old now, weighs 23 lbs, part mancoon , and the love of my life. Soo smart he is. Loves walks on the leash down the sidewalk and is a great big attention getter! People love to take pictures of him with his long black hair, always askng how I got him to walk on the leash. Well , it’s all his doing. I told him if he wanted to go out, he had to be on a leash. So, from that day on , he took to leading me down the sidewalk on long walks, and later, without the leash. Best thing I EVER did was to adopt this demanding, cool cat who has become the love of my life!

We had a black rescue cat, who sadly passed away five years ago. He was one of the smartest, most tolerant, funny, and sweetest animals ever, and we still miss him every day. He was an absolutely great cat; after he passed away we rescued another black cat!

We had 3 wonderful black cats, Toby, Kobe and Bailey. We lost Toby 1.5 years ago. He had a huge personality. Kobe has suffered from IBD since he was 6, and he's almost 17 now. He is now in kidney failure, and we are grateful for every day we have with him. Bailey is about 16 and reminds me the most of Manny. His whiskers have turned white, and he has the white hairs randomly on his body. He greets everyone who comes in our house and loves to be the center of attention. He's sweet, affectionate beyond belief. Many nights I wake up and he's sleeping on my pillow and my head is almost off of it! Toby was the panther of the 3, long and sleek and gorgeous. Across the room you couldn't even see where his lower face ended and his chest began. I can't explain it, but it's true. His claim to fame in our house was that he loved opening doors. We have lever style door handles in our house, and he would practice at night - it would wake me up. He would open the pantry door, the broom closet, the coat closet, and a bathroom door if we had the nerve to close it on him. We finally had to install round door knobs on our bedroom door and our guest room door so we could lock up the cats if we had service people in the house, or anytime we had to leave the front door open for a bit. We also had a gray long hair and a Himalayan cat at the same time (so 5 in all), and I think all cats are great. But I would literally have a houseful of black cats if I could. Beautiful, with wonderful personalities.

MANNY has such a unique personality. We had a black cat named Max. He was our family ambassador. People would say things like l didn't like cats until l met Max, or Max is a human in a cat's body. We also had a black cat (female) named Looley, who was "difficult." One wrong move and the claws came out. She hated the other cats and stayed in her own room. She died recently and on her last day she was beyond sweet.
So happy he got a loving home. I am so happy there are people like you out there taking care of the vulnerable ones. ❤️🙏

He's amazing! back in 2014 I went to the shelter to specifically see if there was a black, female cat to adopt, as I was all too aware about the stigmas black cats face, especially getting adopted. The shelter staff let me browse and just as I was about to leave, I saw my girl! Cleopatra aka Cleo Lady aka Chatty Catty Cleo Girl! She is the sweetest little soul, so gentle, loyal, smart, loving and intuitive...AND expressive just like Manny. We found each other and I'm so grateful we did. Give these gorgeous black cats a chance...they deserve one just like any other homeless animal 🥰
Over the years, we have had 7 black cats because, like you, we know that they are always the last ones to be adopted because of some centuries-old superstition based on ignorance. We have also made a point of adopting stray cats and ones with health issues that require daily meds. Our latest pair, Hugo and Moka, are real cards like your Manny - our days would be so lonely and empty without them to cheer us up! Thank you for this wonderful video.
We have a black female cat named Raven. She showed up at our house as a kitten. She is rather small in size, and is just beautiful. She is very independent, and is in charge here. All for educating people about how special they are!

Me and doggo found a black kitten while going for our evening walk, he was meowing super loud from where the woods begin. Took him home, him and doggo have been bffs since, when I let them together for the first time the kitten ran straight for the husky, wrapped himself around his front leg and started play-biting him, leaving husko looking down at him a bit surprised and confused lol. He's called Bagheera, also stayed rather small, but super feisty. We have three other cats, all from the streets, all of them are special in their own way.

My sister had a black cat, Inky -- he lived to be over 20. He was very laid back too. He loved it when my BIL would spin him while he was laying on his side. He was a good boy. We shouldn't pick by color. I've had the pleasure of owning a Siamese, tabby, tuxedo and now have 2 orange boys. Every cat has their own personality.

I have a rescue black cat named Ouzo. I love him so much, the smartest cat I’ve ever had. Knows so many words, fetch, retrieves and easily trainable. Also, very quiet does not meow, really spooky, just shows up in a room laying there ever makes a sound. Great video loving Owner!

We had a black cat for 14 years...he passed away a little over a year ago from a sudden onset kidney failure (he had been to the vet's some 4 months previously, and all his labs and everything seemed fine). He was a talker like Manny here. I've never had a cat with such an extensive vocabulary. He was definitely not the brightest bulb in the box, but there was not an inscrutable bone in his body - you always knew exactly what he was thinking.

I adopted a cat from a rescue group who had been there 5 years. She was black with some white but did not have full pretty tuxedo markings. Once I found out black animals don’t get adopted as easily as other colors, I decided every pet I will have from now on will be black. And once I met this cat and found out she had been languishing there for 5 years, I knew I had to have her. I renamed her Shadow because she followed me around so much I almost tripped over her. She was my shadow. Six months later I adopted her sister Miss Squeaks who is solid black. They are my angels. I wish I could post a picture here.

Good for you adopting your wonderful, black cat. We rescued a very little female, feral that was sleeping in our maple tree at night in the rain. She has come a long way and is very loving, hence the name, Lovey. She is one of 4 of our rescues that are now a part of our family. Black cats are just like any other cat. They just picked an easy to deal with wardrobe. :)

So adorable! My two black cats, the brothers Monty and Momo, passed away in 2015 at the ripe old age of 16 due to health issues. It was so hard to lose them both in a timespan of less than two months... 😥

I had a black cat but he had white flecks through his fur so I called him laminating, which if you don't know what it is, it's a cake cut into squares with cream and jam in the middle then dark chocolate all round it with coconut sprinkles over it.😁 He was a lovely boy and he crossed over the rainbow bridge at 18yrs old, and still very much missed.

I had a black cat for many many yrs. I found him in a tire when i was 7 and he was only a few days old. I fed him through a turkey baster. Named him bambi because when he walked his legs splayed like bambis on the ice. He died when i was 23. Walked off one day and never came home. I searched qnd searched for him and never found him. I heard cats will leave when its time for them to die but im still not 100% sure. But with the connection we had i was sure it had to of been that. One of his fangs fell out w age and he would drool on me when he got rubs. That cat was the only cat i had for many many yrs. Just got another one about 6 mos ago and im 41 now. Hes no Bambi but hes his own cat and i love him.

I have two black yellow-eyed sister cats. I adore them.They are different like night & night. LOL One small (beta) & one much bigger (alpha). They are indoor cats...would never let them out unless on screened in porch. 2 yrs old & sweet as ever! Love my cats! Maybe I'm part witch😆🤔
Thoroughly enjoyed the story. We had a similar experience. The first six months of our black cat's life spent in a small cage. Adopted, then returned several times. A few days from euthanization, we rescued him and took him home. Took a long while for him to adapt to his new life and freedom. But, in the end all the patient effort was rewarded. He is now an important member of the family.

My family had a black cat for 21 years until he passed in 2018. He was a grumpy little ball of fluff who likes to pick fights with other cats, but he showed that he cared and he lived a long and comfortable life.

I love my black furbabies, theyre the sweetest!! My chunky black one jumped up into my lap in response to the meows in this vid!!! He looks just like him, green eyes and all. Mine, Slinky, randomly showed up 4 yrs ago, couldnt find an owner, so here we are.
He looks and act like my Salem who has went up to the rainbow bridge. We use to have conversations also. He turned me into a black lover also. I miss him so much. Sometimes at night I feel him sleeping behind my legs.
Adopted a family of 5 black cats from our yard....wouldn't be without them! Love your little one!

Looks jus like my 11 yr old cat Onyx. Green eyes and all. (Edit) I didn't pick her from a shelter thou. A friend of mine was an irresponsible cat owner n kept letting his cat go outside n get pregnant n Onyx was one of the kittens n I chose her when she was about 7 weeks old I think, it was so long ago. Other than her having an extra thumb looking claw she hasn't had any medical issues. It's been great.
Glad you and Manny found each other. Sure seems like every life involved has been enriched because of this union. It's obvious, he knows he's loved and part of the family.

It warms my heart to see the video of Manny - so happy he has found a forever home and loving human servants! I am a proud black cat addict myself. When I adopted my first pair of cats I took home a pair of black sisters, Onyx and Cleopatra - both were extremely loving and full of odd but adorable habits. When they had both passed and I was again looking for new feline companions, I couldn't resist being attracted to black kitties (especially since I had lived with black cats for almost 18 years!). Now I'm on my second pair of black kitties, both of them goofballs in their own unique ways but also so delightful to have around. Black cats are definitely good luck and make super sweet and loving companions.
He looks like my Tyler that passed a few years back. Super sweet when he wanted to be, outside half the time because he wanted to, and he came home a handful of times with fresh battle wounds from him scrapping with the neighbors cats, none severe thank goodness. We had an incredible bond, I took care of a few abscesses he acquired throughout his 12 years or so, got sprayed by a skunk one night during winter and I bathed him up until the smell was gone... loved that little dude :)

The only pet I've had in my home was Kit, my rescue black cat. I only had her a year, her old owners abandoned her when they found out she had a heart murmur and wouldn't live much longer. I gave her the best last year of her life until her heart gave out. It shocks me that black cats are last to be adopted, with my experience if I had the chance to get another I would in a heartbeat.

Kinky would be a great name for a cat. For about 13 years Kinky Friedman had a beloved black and white cat named Peaches, whom he rescued from the streets of New York City. For a long time he has owned and run an animal sanctuary in Texas.

Black cats truly have some of the best personalities. I used to take care of a lady that had stray barn cats and the only ones who adapted to us and let us pet them were the black ones. So precious. Glad you got him 💕
