While I'm extremely happy you adopted a kitty from a shelter instead of a breeder, I am also extremely heartbroken seeing the amount of kitties stuck in the shelter without a loving family.
Perhaps that's a shelter for a large metropolitan area. There may be many people coming in to get pets all the time, more than at the rural shelters. I spoke to one shelter in Ohio that had 200 cats in 3 rooms. They told me I could take 10 cats if I so desired. Get you animals spayed and neutered folks.
When it comes to adopting a cat, a friend of mine proved you let the cat chose the human, not the other way around. At the shelter, the workers had him sit in a chair and they put his first choice into his lap. That cat jumped right back into its cage. So his second choice was put in his lap. The cat bit his hand. His third choice was put in lap. She curled up in lap, purring. She lived with my friend for 14 years.

Trio was my favorite, easily. I hope he got adopted considering he’s special needs and a black cat. (But black cats and tripods make wonderful pets!!!)
@@nerysghemor5781 I want Trio so bad, Im sure he can function just fine as any other cat!!! I have special needs mostly black tortoiseshell, shes visually impaired(has different degrees in each eye), and she had to have really awful tumors removed as a baby so now she has a lot skin hanging from her belly (need to schedule a tummy tuck surgery!), but shes loving asf, when my parents picked her up from the vet they said she was cuddling a nurse, and she can run just as fast as my other two cats, her name is Pepper and shes my very lovely girl~
The last time I went to an animal shelter I adopted the oldest one they had. She was 15 years old and had recently lost her home. That broke my heart and I decided to go rescue her. I named her Hope. She had an upper respiratory infection, but you shouldn't let that kind of stuff scare you off from one. They have these wonderful people called vets and they have stuff called medicine. Hope and I had 3 1/2 wonderful years together. It may sound like a cliche, but if anyone was rescued that day I met Hope, it was me. Peace.
If I had the money not only feed the entire shelter worth of cats and kittens but also their vet care and shelter worth of cat trees and cat toys I would in a heartbeat.
Tamora P My parents did that in 1997 adopting two cats, I was born in 1999. One of the cats had 7 toes. She passed away a couple years ago and I’ve had 3 cats since, none of which were nearly as affectionate as her.
You always think you’re gonna go into the shelter and find the nicest, bubbliest cat in the whole place to take home. I found mine napping in the highest corner she could find away from all the other cats, super reserved and easily intimidated by them, wasn’t leaning into any of the offered pets or scratches... for some reason when I left she was the only one I couldn’t stop thinking about. I followed my heart, came back for her, and after maybe a week of acclimating, she turned out to be the sweetest, most loving, fun, hilariously silly cat I’ve ever even met. She needed me.
i just got a kitten when i was at the shelter she was super shy but when we got her she was the most playful kitten i have ever seen (and a bit of a brat)
And for good reason. There is no funding for enough places so animals which don't get adopted, are killed. At some shelters they give them only three days, and if nobody takes them, they're killed.
I would SO adopt Lexi! She seemed really glad to have you, and most cats freak out even more if a new person touches them. Snow White, or Ella, is adorable too
I always wanted a black cat since my childhood because I wanted to be a witch with a black cat hahaha^^ At the end of the lockdown I have decided to adopt one :) can't waiiiiit♥♥
i remember the same place where i got a cat about 5 years ago, there was an elderly cat that had been at the shelter all her life, and she died a few years later without an owner please please PLEASE, if you can, adopt older cats. i know kittens are cuter and you’d be with them longer, but it’s good to give an older cat some love for a few years before they die
ørchid I agree I’ve had many kittens growing up my family would take in street cats and sometimes they would be pregnant it was hard because they would always leave us after a while after they got spayed and shots . And we would give them for adoption to friends and family or neighbors . But I always fell in love with the older cats they give the most love because they appreciate you taking them in specially the mama cats , when I get my own place I will definitely be adopting from a shelter
Good point. It sucks to see them living their remaining days in a cage. At first I was tempted to adopt e smaller ones shown in this video but your comment changed my mind.

I would but you pay the same price for pet that is going to last a few years rather than a whole bunch. Nice idea but maybe if they charged less for senior cats...
😱 so difficult to choose when so many cats are showing how cute and kind they are. I once went to look for a 1 year old cat and came home with a 14 year old cat, because she was the only one doing her best to get my attention. We spent 3 loving years with her.
@Jevonte Hodge did a cat reject you or smth or are you just trying to have an argument on the Internet cause you are sad and pathetic. you are desperate and if you don't like cats to not come to a cat video. breaks my heart to see so many deserving kitties not have a home, all because ppl cant spay/neuter their pets. Bless you for adopting a deserving animal
i did work at a local animal shelter some years ago, and i can tell one thing, for 100000% sure its nearly impossible to not fall in love will all the cats
The thing is, you can see their characters.. Some are gentle, calm..the type that would make you relax when you are mad/sad While others are more playful, energetic.. The one's that would try to make your forget everything and run around with them They all are precious in their own way. And beautiful too. ❤
I saw an episode of the honey mooners where Ralph couldn't leave all the dogs in the shelter so he took all of them, I would have to take them all home.
My now husband and myself went to adopt a young kitten. We interacted with a few and when they went back to get more that had passed their health quarantine they asked us to play with an older 6 month old kitty that hadn't gotten his required daily human interaction. He was an orange tabby and he crawled into my lap and curled up and just looked at us with these beautiful green eyes. Lady in the waiting area said "they choose you". Secretary said they were gonna make him an office cat if he wasn't adopted soon. We walked out the door with him, Mr. Milo, 5 minutes later. 10 years later and he is the best cat I have ever been around.
They do choose us. I miss my black and white tuxedo boys so much but they lived to the grand old ages of 19 and 20 and passed away peacefully. I am still waiting for my next cat/s to choose me.
I got my cat from a farm :D. It's was a family of like 13 or 14 cats. The kittens were running around and one of them approached my parents and didn't want to leave us. :3 Her name is Chloe and she is a very curious cat. She climbs a lot and like to play. :) She is a great cat. Meow meow
hahaa I'm here at my office crying after reading your story lol I've had cats my whole life. It all started with one female cat that appeared at my house, before I was even born, so literally, all my life I've spent surrounded by cats, dozens maybe even hundreds counting all the kittens that were born (and we had to give away) in more than 26 years. Right now we only have 4 cats left, they're all neutered. The oldest one is 14 years old (turning 15 in July), the other 2 are 8 years old, and the last one is about 3 years old. It's sad to think that when they pass away, there won't be more cats, but I'm sure that when that happens a new cat will appear out of nowhere, like several did before.
@@Hgryufdukn, if you mean litter box trained? It's funny...I've never had a cat I had to litter box train, they just know to go to the litter box (of course, make sure it's always available to them and cleaned at least 1x/day). If a cat pee/poops outside of the box, there is a reason... BTW, I can't imagine my life without Kirby, he is something else. Very smart, very big/handsome and very bossy! I found him when he was about 6 mos. old and he brings so much joy to our home. When I'm able to quit my job and work from home, I plan on training him to do tricks. :-)
I'm crying, seeing them behind the bar waiting to be adopted makes me really sad But the thought that some of them might not be adopted at all really breaks my heart 😭
When I adopted my princess she was so sweet to me. She was sticking her paw out and rubbing her head againts the cage, she kept holding my hand and pulling it towards her. She was there for over 6 months and no one wanted to adopt her. Sweetest girl in the entire place, yet she was overlooked. It broke my heart to see how sad she looked in there. I took her home right away. Shes a happy girl now playing with everyone who visits and I'm glad I gave her a loving home. This must've being a hard decision, they are all gorgeous.
I have recently lost two of my precious cat babies. Now l only have two. This video was delightful. I wish this wonderful family (including the human) a truly happy life.
I went to a shelter this Monday. It's Saturday and I've already adopted 3 cats. I'm perfectly financially able and emotionally able to care for them so that's why I adopted them
Shilte Meister That's a very good point to make - people should be ready for the commitment of looking after animal for its lifespan. It costs time and money. Some people treat them as toys or ornaments and are surprised it can be a lot of work. I know - I have taken in several from family members who weren't looking after them properly and neglecting them, either because they were "too busy" or too old. Out of the 4 I have now, 1 is actually mine and he's a foundling who showed up in my backyard in the middle of nowhere.
@Jevonte Hodge I have a cat breeder in my family and if you have a few people it is possible but not easy. It can be done but, I don't recommend, it is constant work-.
@Jevonte Hodge Yes that is true, but that was not the point of the comment, all I was saying is that you can take care of that many, it is just a lot of work.
As soon as I saw Trio, I was like "THAT ONE. GIVE ME" Get this. A pure black cat. With three legs. Named TRIO! That is amazing, I wouldn’t even change the name.
I can’t go into a shelter without coming out in tears, even as a grown ass man I am seeing all the animals begging you to help them out just crushes my heart, I want to take them all I swear...
God bless you. You are like my son and I. We have adopted 4 cats in all from recues. now 5.5 years old our main coon mix, 2.5 yr old Tiger our orange Tabby, and two tuxedo kittens 8 months old now. And when all the cats are piled on my bed life is wonderful! We are moving to Texas and creating a Patriot rehabilitation Project for homeless veterans and abused and homeless cats. (all animals but mainly cats). 100 acres with 700 tiny houses for vets and 100 acres for Animals shelter and sanctuary. Seeing that pile of cats warms my heat. You wonderful lady you!
@Мira Izhik It sure is. I live in an apartment complex. I heard a loud meowing one day when it was raining and I opened my front window. I went outside to find it and in the thick trees beside my apartment, there was a little kitten that had got its leg trapped between 2 branches and it was hanging upside down by that one leg. The leg was broken in half(that is the least brutal way I can put it). It was so sad. I got it loose and rushed it to the vet hospital and dropped it off. I didnt have the money at the time to take it in after the hospital and from what I seen, I doubt it survived. The leg wasnt the only thing that was wrong, I just dont think you want to know. It is too brutal out there for Cats and especially kittens.
I know it’s sad but think that all the cats world have been in awful situations - hoarding homes, abusive situations and abandonment are just a few. Although they aren’t yet in a forever home , they all have food, water, a shelter and warmth x
Yes you all are right, at least they aren't outside in danger starving or getting hit by a car. I've got one of my cats from that street too. I would adopt one more if I could afford a bigger flat.
I did my high school co-op at an animal shelter (they may have changed this now due to cross-contamination), and everyday, as I was cleaning one of the cat rooms, we were all allowed to open all the cages and let them play on the floor as we were cleaning. Although it’s sad to see them trying to get out, just have peace of mind knowing that they aren’t cooped up in those cages all day. Also, they all end up going somewhere, whether it’s through adoption, fostering, being taken to pet stores, or the ones that can’t be domesticated eventually get taken to someone’s farm to be a “barn cat.” Trust me, I hated to see it too! But behind the scenes, they get lots of love from the staff until it’s time for them to go. We were a non-kill shelter too, so that might be different.
Ame my thoughts exactly! When I saw them I wanted to point and say CAT HORDER! Lol I can not judge though... my daughter and I LOVE cats and would probably be the same way if we had more room for more then two.

Nasiba Karimova I love you 😘
The last time I went to an animal shelter I adopted the oldest one they had. Peace.

Bro I’m allergic to cats watching these videos make me so sad
They re stock in a couple weeks.
She needed me.
that's awesome; how long have you had her now? It's been just over two years now since I got Ella and Sophie.

i remember the same place where i got a cat about 5 years ago, there was an elderly cat that had been at the shelter all her life, and she died a few years later without an owner
please please PLEASE, if you can, adopt older cats. i know kittens are cuter and you’d be with them longer, but it’s good to give an older cat some love for a few years before they die
ørchid I agree I’ve had many kittens growing up my family would take in street cats and sometimes they would be pregnant it was hard because they would always leave us after a while after they got spayed and shots .
Older cat can be cute sometime and I agree with you
I would but you pay the same price for pet that is going to last a few years rather than a whole bunch.

Meow meow
Same it was which ever cat I was able to grab was mines she low key hates me but loves my sister which I’m happy she choose my sister
hahaa I'm here at my office crying after reading your story lol I've had cats my whole life.
What a touching story 😻

@@Hgryufdukn, if you mean litter box trained? It's funny...I've never had a cat I had to litter box train, they just know to go to the litter box (of course, make sure it's always available to them and cleaned at least 1x/day). If a cat pee/poops outside of the box, there is a reason...
BTW, I can't imagine my life without Kirby, he is something else. Very smart, very big/handsome and very bossy! I found him when he was about 6 mos. old and he brings so much joy to our home. When I'm able to quit my job and work from home, I plan on training him to do tricks. :-)
