You should see The River Walk at Christmas Time.
Yes for sure, the lights come on after Thanksgiving thru mid January. Very beautiful!!!
Dead floating bodies?
Yes, but Christmas without snow is just wrong. Sorry.
Every time I hear about that place, I can’t stop thinking about Charles Barkley calling it a dirty little creek and his beef with the big ole’ San Antonio women. 🤣
Funny that I live here and never go downtown =P
What a lovely family.
If you go on the river walk, you might see Texas Bushman!
Glad you enjoyed our beautiful city. You are welcome any time!
Mr. Beasley, you have such a beautiful family. Cherish each moment with little Archie. They grow up so fast ❤❤
USAF veteran 1976-80 basic training in San Antonio. Loved the boardwalk
Me too. Did my basic training there in 94. 🇺🇲👍 Thanks for your service.
My dad did Basic at Lackland in 1964.
@@foxfire20gunner29My dad was there 30 years before you. Thanks for YOUR service.
I live in San Antonio!! Hope your visit was enjoyable.
Welcome to Texas San Antonio TX is a special place
San Antonio is a city that is unique. The atmosphere is so different from any other town in America. Christmas is a magical time to visit. The food is fantastic. The Mercado is a must visit. The old churches are breathtaking. So many museums, the zoo, the Japanese gardens. 7:18
Plus Sea World as well and another amusement park... I enjoyed the missions of the national park of missions...
When my nephew graduated at Lackland AFB, we did the Riverwalk. But do not forget the Alamo!
Been there many times and I never tire of it. Good food. Lovely atmosphere.
There used to be a great dixieland jazz club called Jim Cullum's Landing. Alas, it's long gone, but the live music was fantastic.
This is a fave of all Texas band teachers who come to the San Antonio convention center twice a year for band conventions.
They used to broadcast from there on public radio
You better watch out for that Texas Bushman along the riverwalk! 😅 Have fun!
I kept expecting them to come across him 😂😂 would have been so funny 😂
That would be epic
San Antonio has good Mexican food.
50%
Texmex not Mexican
@@chelleroberson3222idk where ur eating ur food at, it’s not texmex at all,
@@OzSeattle100%
Fuck no! It's all fake Tex Mex crap. Go to the southwest if you want authentic Mexican food.
Thank you 🙏 for sharing your joyful journey to 🇺🇸👍👏👏👏👋☮️
Born and raised in San Antonio. Loved your video. Still live close.
Welcome to Texas. Always a party of some kind.
Archie is adorable and looks like his mom. 😊
Happy you came to visit my city. So happy you enjoyed it.
Live mariachi band! Total win.
The riverwalk is gorgeous at nighttime as well.
So, y'all were here a few months back for Fiesta? Awesome! Thanks for visiting our city.
Looks nice. When it is cloudy outside in England It's chilly, cloudy outside in Texas is usually warm and humid 😊
The hospital (the Emily Morgan) is not currently abandoned. It’s a hotel now. I’ve stayed there a few times and it’s very gorgeous inside! Lots of history within those walls.
San Antonio is the biggest "small town" in America, welcome!
Nothing small town about it
So glad you got to spend some time in our city, the 7th largest in the US. 😊
I’m happy that you enjoyed yourselves in my adopted home town. You’re welcome anytime.
The mariachis in that restaurant were playing "My Girl," the old R&B song, for that family. That's pretty funny, I never hear mariachis play anything like that.
They're normal people with diverse music taste. 😉
I love the river walk. Many years since I have been there. Enjoy! Take time to relax!
Glad y'all ad a great time. Hope y'all come back and try different Tex-Mex dishes and desserts 😋
I live in San Antonio, born in Canada though, never been anywhere like it and I love living here ❤
Glad to see you got there. I've never been, but would love to go. I think that the River Walk looks like so much fun. I have to say, I was kind of hoping you would have run into the Texas Bushman. If you don't know what I'm talking about and want a good laugh, look up his TH-cam channel. Can't wait to see more of your trip. Peace
The Riverwalk is a great time. I used to go for the light parade in Nov.
Thanks for sharing this wi5h all of us. ❤ and blessings from CALIFORNIA.
When I visited San Antonio's Riverwalk, it surprised me that there was no railing to keep people from falling into the river.
I was considering going back this year for the San Japan anime convention because the convention has gotten a lot bigger, and because I was working with on of the vendors at the convention most of the time, I didn't get to do as much touristy stuff as I wanted. Unfortunately, I suffered a stroke at the start of summer, but if I recover enough function, I might travel to San Antonio in January,
The river is really shallow.
Even a midget could stand up in it.
Best wishes for your health and recovery.
It’s not that deep. 9:09
@@MarieL10 Doesn't really matter how deep it is, you can literally drown in a puddle if you are panicked etc.
@@LordLOC haven’t heard of anyone drowning in the river ? The walkway is wide and unobstructed.
I’ve never been to the San Antonio riverwalk and I know everyone raves about it. Since I’m from the northeast, it very much reminds me of the Providence river wall in Rhode Island. And they have Water Fire too.
Been to San Antonio twice and loved it! 👍
I need to go back someday. Wouldn't take too long either because i already live in Texas.
That hospital was were Carol Burnett was born.
who care's , it's where I was born in 1948 the Nix....thanks glenn
Really?? I’m from and currently still live here in SA and I never knew that 😭🤧
Glad you enjoyed our fair city! Enjoying all of your travel vlogs!
FYI, Fat Tuesday is the English for Mardi Gras, the day before Ash Wednesday.
No way, didn’t know yall were here! Wish I could have met yall, I hope you had a great time
Glad you had a chance to visit my city. Fun facts. The old bridges were constructed during the Great Depression. To give people jobs the Federal government started these projects so people would not starve. The downtown area around the Alamo has a old European feel. The Alamo area is going to get a major change. If you come back in several years you won't recognize it. The most popular downtown sites are the Alamo, Farmers Market which sells Mexican gifts, The Governors Palace, and San Fernando cathedral which has some of the remains of the Alamo battle and was built when the city was first founded.
Welcome to Texas y'all!
Glad you guys had fun! I've been waiting for this one!
In January/February, on a cold day, you should drive down along the coast to Corpus Christi, then out to Port Aransas and Mustang Beach. You can drive on the beach, but BE CAREFUL - if the sand is dry, that's BAD. Stay closer to the water's edge so sand is hard-packed.
Also, in January, citris harvests occur in the South Texas area - McAllen, Harlingen, Pharr... go out and pick oranges or pineapples. Wheee
Oh WOW, I spent too much time in that hospital having orthopedic surgeries. So much time the nurses called this one room the Nora suite. You could always hear the bands on the river walk. I would much rather have been down there. Too bad it closed.
Glad you made it out to my home town.
I hope you went to Rainforest Cafe and look inside the Lobby of the Holiday Inn, both on the Riverwalk. That will be a truly unforgetable experience! Also, since you are in San Antonio, you have some of the BEST rides and Theme Parks! Six Flags Fiesta Texas is the BEST Six Flags park! You got SeaWorld San Antonio, ZDT's Amusement Park outside San Antonio, which has a FAMOUS Gravity Group wooden Shuttle coaster called Switchback. Finally, you have Schlitterbahn New Brubfells in New Brunfells, which is the BEST waterpark IN THE WORLD!!!
Unfortunately, San Antonio is the largest city in America to not have Regional or Light Passenger Rail service. They just have long-distance passenger rail with Amtrak.
One of my favorite places in Texas. Been there twice.
We spent a week there when our daughter graduated from basic training.
Planning on going back with my daughter so she experience it as a civilian
Heyyy! You guys are close by me. I’m just a few miles from the riverwalk.
Hello great you had a chance to visit San Antonio and river walk, the city has many other great attractions from its history to tourists areas check our mission trail to our historic Ft Sam quadrangle miltary Museum and the Navarro house to market square. I know the feeling I was stationed in Germany for 3 1/2 years and would be so excited and overwhelmed to travel all through Europe. Glad you had a good time.
I really want to move to San Antonio.
We would make special trips to San Antonio just to do the River Walk. Even saw a Wedding taking place on 3 boats.
Love the Riverwalk!
I'm surprised you didn't see more military. We used to go over there every chance we got.
My wife and I explored the River Walk a few years back when we stopped in San Antonio on a road trip through Texas. We met Juan the "Juan and only " who was our boat tour guide. We had a fantastic day and also visited The Alamo.
River walk is really nice.... Chicago, Illinois....but, so is York, England
I'm busy so here's a quick Like and Comment for the algorithm, I'll finish the video later.👍
Enjoy
It was the Nix Hospital, where my brothers and I were born.
Bubba Gump restaurants can always be found in high tourism areas.
Jumped in the river for my teammates meal money back in the day 🤣
Hey that’s cool yall are in my hometown.
Hope you enjoying your time there bro! My home state
I just landed in San Antonio today
San Antonio can be very humid. You know that Google maps has walking street views for things like the Riverwalk & Millennium Bridge. Probably something ground level in Jersey in fact. Riverwalk is definitely touristy. There were some places worth eating at the last time I was there.
One of my favorite places in the whole world, if it's not blazing hot. Great food also...
It is very much still blazing hot here 🤧🤣😅
I haven't been to San Antonio in at least a decade even though we pass right by it on the way to our weekend place.
Always have ice cream for dessert after spicey food, so that when you are on the throne at 3-am you can say: c'mon ice cream.
my hometown. wish i'd known you were here.
Mad Dogs pub ... It's from Rudyard Kipling.. Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.
If you have the chance to have a night alone, go to Durty Nellie's. It's an Irish pub on the Riverwalk.
Fiesat weekends at the end of April are always lots of fun. We have to drive there from Dallas because we leave with so much pottery and other things. The market square is my favorite place to go. The night parades are pretty with their lit up floats. And you need to ride a riverboat at least once as they tell you lots of history on the area. We stay at the Emily Morgan hotel which you could see from the rooftop of the Hilton you were at. They say it's haunted, but we've never experienced anything.
Wow welcome to my city
At the end when you were at the rooftop pool if you'd turned around you would have seen the Tower of the Americas, that building on the penny you said you didn't know what it was, you do see it very briefly (9:34) when you're panning around up there.
The Riverwalk is probably great for magnet fishing.
You should have called me! Ya'll could have come over for some authentic Mexican homemade food!
New subscriber 😊 from Texas
I havent been there in 40 yrs. Since our free day in Basic at Lackland.
My old hometown
If you go back to San Antonio you should go to Schilo’s Deli. It’s the oldest restaurant still running in San Antonio.
So glad you enjoyed it!
San Antonio cool❤❤
Welcome to San Antonio
Did you find out what the Tower of Americas was? Its on the coin. It was built for the HemisFair in '68
God Bless you guys ( little Indiana slang ha ha !) been following your channel. ? Yr ? Or so ? ! We’re in South Bend,Ind. ( NOTRA-Dame University ! !) lived in Houston,Tex . For 13 years, had a relative in San Antonio,Tx. I’d suggest seeing the Space Shuttle Museum in Houston ( area) ! &/ or drive up the mountain road to top of “ Pikes Peak “ 14,000 feet I believe ? In Colorado Springs ( area), it’s paved all the way up ! ! We really liked it ! !
Did you visit "The Alamo"?
Would've loved to guide ya'll when I still lived there
I don’t know if you walked down far enough to see the amphitheater on the riverwalk. It is truly unique even filmed in the movie Ms Congeniality I don’t recall which release 1,2,3.
I loved learning that was where my grandmother and her twin sister used to dance for the USO shows. It must be from the 30s or 40s
I haven’t watched all of the video yet but I hope you also walked over to the nearby Alamo.
Ah man! I am highly disappointed. I love y’all’s videos and I wished I could have met y’all in San Antonio. I would have driven y’all around.
It seems like there a lot of us fans of Joe (Texas Bushman).🤣
Cold? It's 95 today in SA.
Brother I wish I could have met up with y'all everything would have been on me and my family. I'm a big fan of y'alls
Look at the beautiful view of condemned buildings.
Welcome to San Antonio...I thought you were here earlier? Anyway have fun, drink lots of water, cuz it's gonna be hot :p The Hospital is the building you are pointing at, also known as the Nix Bldg formerly a Hopital...my wife was born there :p
I've been to the Riverwalk a few times (on the same trip) it's really nice. My group of like 30 people ate at Dick's Last Resort and it was really fun.
come to Austin Texas!! we have lots of festivals
That former hospital was the nix
Charles Barkley sends his best wishes.
Happy yall made here to Texas. How yall handling the weather it’s freaking hot out still
Bro, the best tacos and and burritos. Especially breakfast burritos are at the most random gas stations. Believe it or not
