If you have a touchscreen 15R 5537 the digitizer is separate from the LCD display and can be purchased separately. However, I have yet to find a video that show how to replace one or the other....
If you still need this: The digitizer the plugged in via the motherboard itself, so you would have to take apart the whole laptop to get to it. It's the "JTOUCH" connector.
Thank you for replying. I did figure it out. Then when I put it back together with the new screen the digitizer would not respond. It took some work but I did figure out that I had to go to the Dell site and download new drivers even though I didn't change the digitizer. It was very odd. Windows kept telling me my drivers were up to date. But when all else fails reinstall the drivers.. lol Good as new.
I have the Inspiron 15R 5537 and it doesn't look like this at all. I have to remove the bottom cover just to remove the battery and the bezel will not come off like the latitude which this video looks like.

Between 0:39 and 0:55 in the video, I am using a small flat head screw driver to remove the plastic hinge covers on the laptop. It's easy to do, just insert the screw driver between the screen and the cover and pop it off.

Sirt Yeah that's not true, however I've also heard that same rumor. As long as your touch screen still works, all that needs to be replaced is the LCD screen.
Your hand was in the way when you were taking off the silver tabs that folds the screen. Please repost with video of how they come off. Mine doesn't seem to pop right off and appears to be in two pieces
question: my 5537 has a touch screen display. i do not use it and dont care about it. i really need higher resolution (1366 does not cut it). the intel 4400 supports up to 2550 x 1440 res. can i replace the screen with a higher res screen and if so, what must i do to make sure the settings are correct? i would really appreciate it. thank you.

What kind of screen will give me the same function as what the laptop comes with, including touchscreen? Do I need the LCD Screen + Embedded Touch or LCD Screen only (since there's no problem with the touchscreen function)? Is it any trouble to separate the LCD and touchscreen parts of the screen? If I have little experience working with computers, should I try to do so myself? A lot of questions, I know. Thanks if you can answer any!
Colin Waichler I have the exact same problem and I believe it was caused from keeping my laptop in my backpack with some heavy books. Removing the digitizer and outside shell of the screen is done fairly easily by slitting a small flathead between the black rubbery material and the outside shell of your laptop. There will be clips on the inside that you'll have to pop off and then make sure you check the bottom of the screen (check from the back) to pop those clips as well. You'll have to wiggle the inside hinges for them to release. Lay the digitizer down and then just remove the 4 screws on the corners of the LCD screen. Carefully remove the screen and check on the back and you will see the product number. My specific product was LP156WHU (TL)(AA) however yours could be different so I recommend you check. As long as your touch screen function works properly now, all you'll need to replace is the LCD. It's a fairly simple process and computer repair shops generally overcharge for such a job, so give it a shot! Good luck!

So my touchscreen cracked on my 5537 can I replace it with a non touch screen
Unfortunately I do not know if that is possible. The only Dell 5537 I have worked on was a non-touch screen model.
