I make my almond milk by blending 1 tablespoon 100% almond butter with a couple cups of water . You get a nice creamy consistency . You can add Salt and sweetener if you like . Soooo good 😊 👍

We have been using store-bought almond milk for a long time and realize that homemade is much healthier. Main reason we buy is that homemade doesn't keep as long in the fridge, but I think now that it would still be worth it health-wise to make it ourselves. We do keep almonds in the freezer, so we do have the ingredients. Thanks for the reminder about watching the ingredients on everything! How long can you store the home-made almond milk in the fridge?

I love making my own almond milk. I sometimes make it with a combination of other nuts like Brazil and cashews. I love your idea about not straining it. I might just take that idea since it put it in smoothies and oatmeal. Perfect!

BRAZIL nuts contain Selenium - absolutely necessary to protect against Cancer.
Look up the Danish Study on Selenium. It will knock your socks off !
The danish study was cut short bec the cancers of many people start shrinking. !?
apparently 1 or 2 Brazil nuts contain enough selenium to act as protection.

Lecithin prevents the ingredients from separating when you refrigerate it. If you don't add lecithin, some ingredients will float on top and the others will drop to the bottom. That's icky!! I use sunflower lecithin when I make almond milk.

The 3Trees organic almond milk you don't recommend either, with only almonds and water? I bought a Soyabella soymilk maker and coffee grinder a number of years ago. I don't do anything soy but it works great for making almond milk and many other things. You can make soup in it. Grind coffee beans, etc. This has motivated me to get it out again and start using it. At one time I found an almond pulp bread recipe that I made and liked. I'll have to search that out again. I Enjoy your videos!

What is your take on oaths phytic acid content? - I like oats very much, but many seeds, grains, nuts, etc have protective natural chemicals that prevent potential eaters to use their nutrients before they germinate. Lots of good ingredients but with lectins and phytate that in theory prevent their best nutrient absorption (this might be the key to understand why so many vegan people that eat properly have serious health issues: bad absorption of nutrients in the gut for many reasons, but the above one is a challenging one.

Almond milk can have 50% and much more absorbable net gain calcium than cow's milk. The protein in cow's milk requires use of its calcium to process it through the body, leaving very little left over or nothing at all for calcium intake for the blood and bones. One can actually get a net loss of calcium from drinking cow's milk depending on the digestive and metabolic health of the individual and the type of cow's milk being ingested.

I have been making almond mild for a few months and that has never happened. I have no idea what is going on. When I let it soak I did not put in the fridge. I left it out in the bowl over night.

In order to make it yourself, you're gonna need a Vitamix which is expensive and some cheese cloth, which is a pain in the butt. I stopped drinking almond milk and started drinking grass-fed, organic whole cow's milk. It is delicious and very healthy. But, I understand if you are lactose intolerant or a vegan.

Hey Annette I'm just letting you know studies are starting to come out about stevia and infertility. It causes decreased testosterone in men. Now I'm not sure if that's the garage powder s"tevia" or the herb extract. And I've heard it had causes infertility in women too. Which I honestly can believe since eim struggling with that since cutting Splenda and switching to stevia.
But I just wanted to mention this just in case you want to look into it !

Almond skins have high amounts of phytic acid in it so need to blanch them first. That's why I am trying to find somebody who can tell me if the factory made ones soak and blanch (remove skins) their almonds first. Phytic acid binds to important minerals and can affect mineral absorption in the small intestine. I have been drinking almond milk for quite a few years now and now I am realizing I need to probably stop because I found out about the high phytates in the skins and I doubt the factories blanch them before making almond milk.
