There ~are~ almonds in the almond milk in my refrigerator.
I make my own almond milk with 70g of raw almonds, 96oz of water, 1/4 tsp salt & 2 tsp vanilla extract in my Vitamix every 3-4 days. Costs about $0.88 per 96oz bottle.

I like trying different recipes. I use about 50 soaked almonds in 1 tsp each of Apple cider vinegar and Himalayan Salt for 8 to 12 hours in 110 degrees dehydrator. If I leave it out longer they will sprout. I let that happen sometimes. In my Almond Cow machine, I am able to add 50 almonds, 2 tblspn organic cinnamon and 2 tblspn organic cocoa nibs with 4 organic dates. I clean the dates by soaking them and using my finger wiping them down with Apple cider vinegar and water. In 6 cups of R/O water this gets blended but keeping all the pulp in a container to separate the milk from the pulp. I love my Almond milk. Some people said it taste like Horchata but way more healthy. There is a button to press to get it going i press that twice. Much creamer pulp and the milk is blended better. This machine makes drinking my homemade almond milk much easier to make!

The equation is simple: if you have to pack food, you’re not selling the food, you’re selling the package and the publicity that comes with it. This is applicable from something so simple as water (bottled water is basically the industry getting rich from something the nature produces every single second and much better and healthier) to something more elaborated as ‘milks’ or sauces.

Here in the UK, it is not easy to find alternative milks that don't have rapeseed oil in it.

I'm from the UK. My mother (who's in her 80s now) brought my sister and myself up not to buy foods with a long list of ingredients and to compare similar items from different manufacturers, as we as if you can't pronounce any of the ingredients on the container to put the item back on the shelf. I have imparted this information to my children and hope they continue to buy foods that are more healthy for them. I have mainly cooked from scratch so very rarely bought processed food.

If your child tolerates dairy feed her real dairy, if you can get your hands on raw cow or goat milk that’s liquid gold! No milk supplement will ever compare none! The nutrients in these fake milks is not nearly as bioavailable as real dairy. Real dairy will help your child not only keep strong bones and teeth, but it will also help your toddler develop proper jaw and facial structure, yes making them more attractive. Hope this helps! Also some kids that don’t tolerate milk from the grocery store do in fact sometimes tolerate raw dairy without the processing❤️

Great videos , thank you - however there is one important correction to put forward: : conventionally grown almonds are very pesticide loaded. The non-organic GMO almond growers literally cover the trees in pesticides... so much so that a lot of the apiculture who provide bees as pollinators on such farms, loose a lot of their bees in that spraying process if their timing is unlucky .. very sadly . So organic and Non ZgMO is important - Best wishes . :)

Bobby, thanks for making informative and enjoyable videos. Does the protein content of the milk matter? Almond Breeze and the Thrive Market (almond milk) had 1g whilst the other milks had 3g or 4 g. Also, recently what has been bothering me is the non-recyclable packaging of all the products I buy. I love the variety of products available but I’m trying to cut down due to most packaging ending up in a landfill. We need to be good to our bodies but also good to the earth. If a product is available in recyclable packaging (coconut sugar is my most recent purchase) or non-recyclable packaging, I buy the product with the recyclable container/ packet even if it costs more and I get less product.
Lastly, I was watching a video by PBS about the our consumption of beef and how the pandemic has affected the beef supply chain. Since the pandemic has affected US beef production US companies have been looking to make up that shortfall. This is where Nicaragua has stepped. If foreign beef is sold to the USA, but has been processed in the USA it’s labeled as a product of the USA. The problem with Nicaragua beef is that beef exporters are stealing the land from indigenous people. The indigenous people are being intimidated and sometimes killed to make way for cattle ranches. The beef ends up in the USA, it’s processed here, and labeled as product of the USA.
I’m sorry to preach but we need to make careful buying choices. I’ll get off my soapbox now.

How do you make it? Please share?

    • @ruthmolloy84
      @ruthmolloy84 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@tm4465 It takes 2.5 cups of rolled oats to make 1/2 gallon of oat milk. *Before you start, please realize that there are no texturizers and no fillers, so the result will be thinner than boxed store bought oat milk andd will need to be shaken before each use.
You will need : lemon juice or apple cider vinegar, 1/2 gallon jar,
blender, 2 bowls, a fine cloth for straining.
-First, soak the oats in COLD water, just enough to cover the oats. Because oats are high in phytates (phytic acid), you should add lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to the soaking to draw out the phytates (which are present in varying amounts in all grains and need to be removed to maximize the nutritional benefits of the oats.) Leave the oats soaking on the counter for 24 hours.
-After this period, pour the mixture into a collander and rinse thoroughly with cold water.
-Add the oats and enough cold water to your blender or processor to bring the level to 72-ounces. This will result in 64-ounces of milk.
-Pulse for a couple of minutes; then pour everything into a bowl with a fine cloth draped over the edges.
-Have another bowl ready. Squeeze the oats captured in the cloth to get as much "milk" out of them as possible and put the remaining oats in the spare bowl.
-Your oatmilk is now ready to use. Good in shakes and over cereal and in baking. I also use the fine oatmeal leftover as porridge and in other recipes like veggie burgers.
It will keep for 5-6 days in the refrigerator
Remember to shake before each use,

Hey Bobby, FYI, done recent research on almond milk. The article I found about the growth of the almond industry has caused the orchards in California to get much larger. Almond trees need large volumes of water and because of that they are actually threatening California's water supplies, so deeper wells have been dug to accommodate the excessive water needs. In doing so they have actually hit a level of arsenic. Recent testing of the almonds has showed elevated levels of arsenic.
