I've not found anything yet that drops a Goids shields faster then the nose of a Cutter, Corvette, Anaconda, or T-10. Besides, a closer target is always easier to hit.
@@mikewaterfield3599 maybe I could cold orbit. If I ever flew a ship SMALL ENOUGH to cold orbit a Goid lmao. Sure, I can do a decent job of dancing a Cutter around an asteroid while mining. But asteroids generally don't move that fast. Hell, I'm still trying to learn how to make those damned flak launchers actually kill a swarm. Usually I just give up in disgust and kill the cyclops while tanking the swarm.
Is the 6x shart cannon build good? No, not really. It runs insanely hot, which means you have to run tons of heatsinks instead of shield boosters, which means you essentially have to run a hull tank build on a big ship, which severely limits the amount of time between repairs. Is it still my favorite build I've played with so far? You bet your ass it is. The ability to insta-gib a cyclops with 6 med shard cannons on an anaconda is just unbelievably fun, even if you are dragging your half-melted, shot to pieces ship back to base every 5 minutes to restock the heatsinks. PSA: I've found that you can actually shoot for quite a while without incinerating every module on your ship if you split the cannons into two different fire groups and chain fire them, rather than firing all 6 simultaneously. You can still fire them all at once for beefy alpha strikes, but it keeps the heat down a lot most of the time. You can also fire a second heat sink before the first one ejects, and always keep two going at the same time. Takes a bit of multitasking skill to get the timing right, but it keeps it below 100% unless you're REALLY going ham on the trigger.
Oh, and I run a biweave rather than totally shieldless. Interceptors take it down pretty much immediately, but it really cuts down on cumulative damage from scouts, and it makes landings a bit more forgiving when you've just gotten mangled by a hydra and you need to get this puppy on the ground stat. They rebuild fast enough that you'll typically have shield back by the time you go to land, which means you can really bellyflop that bad boy into the pad without worrying about your 12% hull going crunch.
Insta-gibbing is hella fun, especially when you are tired from doing all the cold orbiting and mechanics. I have tried the half-half method of firing instead of shooting all at once. But this usually brings up the panic shields which is annoying.
@@Anthua true. I fire them all at once for insta killing cyclopses, since a few seconds of heat buildup isn't a huge problem. I just use the chain fire thing to keep my heat down a bit when I'm fighting tougher interceptors that I can't kill with an alpha strike anyway.
From what I understand with this kind of build, you have to know what youre doing. The risk involved requires it. This is fun for skilled players as a newbie might panic at those heat levels and what newbie or ameteur is going to go toe to toe with a bassy anyways.

You can manually change your FOV by going to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics\ Open Settings.xml using notepad, Find line 60.000000 and change value to your desired FoV. 60 is default max I am using 76 For hydras, this build is terrible without a station nearby to repair you after taking down each heart.
