I always knew I was Turkish from my father's side. His mother, my grandmother, taught me how to cook. My family primarily spoke English and we took on American culture as our own. So many comfort foods without names I always assumed were just what we made to eat. It was there, the unique ingredients and flavors just because it's what we had. My father passed away and I never inquired about my Turkish heritage. But upon finding your channel, I realized how many mannerisms I see of my family in you, Rafika. I can see my grandmother, aunts, cousins and my father. The foods you graciously share here with the world, found me, and I, have found my culture. It's been such a heart warming experience to discover Turkish cuisine in its authentic forms and knowing my family passed them down to me all this time. Thank you much for the effort you put in all your videos! Your videos are imbued with warmth and love; I feel like I'm watching a family member and my day feels less lonely. Thank you again - With Love from the US
I don’t know what part of US you are from but NY and NJ are both densely populated with Turkish people:) please come visit do some shopping we got all sorts of Turkish stores A-Z
Another great but not well known recipe of our traditional cuisine, your English channel has become my new addiction, thanks for your efforts to promote our delicious tastes with such helpful and joyful manner, love you guys 🎉
I made this tonight it turned out awesome thank you . Almost as good as my Anne used to make . Your channel is a greatly appreciated by Turks born outside of 🇹🇷

I went shopping to get everything to make this soups. Now on a snowy day in Oregon I will make it and feel like I am with you all in Turkey. Thanks for bringing your culture to us around the world.
I still make your red lentil soup when I have friend over for a meal. They never have only two helpings…they always have three! And then they still enjoy the main dish abs dessert afterwards. The lemon takes it to a different level! Thank you for al, your recipes. ❤

Just in time for a cold and rainy weekend in California! I think I tasted a similar soup on a food tour in Istanbul. Very excited to try this recipe. Thanks, Rafika!
@@marlies7444 indeed. Frozen. Just add to boiling water, or boiling soup stock. Very handy for working parents to make easy tasty and filling soup or dish. Boiling time depends on how big you make the small meatballs.
Yummy. My husband is going to love this new recipe. There is nothing bad by the way it looks. It looks warm and comforting. And Rafika I wouldn’t be able to do anything if Bahar was looking at me😂😉
"If you have a kid..." Yesss! Child labour (joke) With us, my dad had us peeling shrimp and garlic, something big adult fingers found difficult. I will definitely try that flour rolling trick for making a lot of small meatballs very quickly. I also love that the leftover flour is not wasted.
This soup looks amazing! Here in the US, food prices are crazy-high, and this will be easy on the budget. The flavors in this recipe sound so delicious! I can't wait to try this, and thanks so much for sharing, Refika.
did you make the recipe? did you use 1lb (454g) of meat instead of 100gr? I am also trying to make this recipe in the US and the smallest amount of meat you can buy is 1lb of meat. but then the recipe becomes very large when you multiply everything it by 4.5. I am not sure if my biggest pot can handle it.
Delish! Can't wait to try out this recipe. Well done. Love the production quality of your videos, they resolution is excellent, the pace is too. Thanks for making excellent content.
I came across this recipe last night and made it today, it tastes amazing, will be making it once a week for sure. Love your channel and sending you lots of love 🧡
This looks so good! I need to make it soon. I just cannot have mint, so I am wondering what kind of herb would be good instead for more flavour. I can have pretty much everything except for mint.
@@sdoken sure, but then it would be less flavourful. I know recipes in which other herbs can be used instead, so I wonder which herb would taste the best in this dish.
@@JelenaBraum I asked ChatGPT for you and it suggested cilantro.🌿 Here is what it said: “Instead of mint, you can use coriander (also known as cilantro) as an alternative spice in the meatball mixture. Coriander has a fresh and citrusy flavor that can complement the other ingredients in the recipe. The herbaceous and slightly citrus notes of coriander can add a vibrant twist to the dish, similar to mint. Use it in the same quantity as the original mint in the recipe. If you prefer a different flavor profile, you could also consider using basil or dill, depending on your taste preferences. Each of these herbs brings its unique flavor to the dish, providing variety while still harmonizing with the overall recipe.”

That looks delicious! But anyway everything you make looks delicious! Thank you. I have a question, can I mix the vegetable? My husband don't like it when the veggies are floating into the soup.
Hello Refika hope your back is not aching anymore I tried your eksili köfte soup today! We loved it!!!! It is really delicious it changes from the traditional soups and as I told you I mixed the veggies and it gives the soup a heavy creamy texture think you so much for all your efforts you are the best!@@Refika
