- Frank Hamer and Maney Gault were ex Texas Rangers who were hired to for one task. To track down and put an end to Bonnie and Clyde. After 102 days they did just that with the help of four other officers of the law.

Thanks for the video. I have some steel pennies I leave on WW2 veterans stones dated in the war years. I have three I visit on memorial day. Friends of mine and my father. One drove a landing craft at Iwo, Siapan, Okinowa. one was in the third wave at Omaha Beach , captured at the Battle of the Buldge with a thousand others, POW. One was at the landing at Anzio wounded in France and has a Silver and Bronze Star marking on his headstone.
I like that you're doing that. I have some steel pennies but not enough to do that. Those men that you mentioned have always been my heroes. Hearing about the one who was in the Battle of Athens Buldge and then captured makes me think of Hardrock Gunter. Thanks for doing what you do to keep their memory going.

The new movie gives Hamer and Fault they respect they deserve. Tough men from the 1800s who went from chasing criminals on horse back to cars. When given a job, they got it done , no matter what it took.
It's a little exaggerated but it does give them a lot more respect. He was 16 years old in 1900. He would not have done any chasing criminals in the 1800s.

It's always nice to see friends buried close together. Too bad they refused to work for a woman. They seemed like pretty good guys, until you said that. I know it was a different time, but sadly, not that much has changed in all the years since.
You also have to put some context in with that. There was a lot of corruption in Texas. Her husband, Pa Ferguson was Governor and got impeached. She then became governor and somehow stayed in office. Then she was elected into office so it was really like the corruption never left. There had to be a reason why she didn't want Texas Rangers around. Less law enforcement means more criminal opportunity. Ma Ferguson was a rough woman and not easy for anyone to get along with. Texas definitely has it's share of characters and many of them came up here to Oklahoma. Thanks for watching my friend!

We run a firing range and reloading shop in South Texas. Folks come to our range from all over, including Canada, Mexico, and Australia. Some folks like to keep a bullet as a souvenir. Shy of a firing pin striking the blasting cap, or the bullet ending up in a burning fire, the bullet will not explode. You can pull the projectile off, separate it from the casing, and remove the gunpowder. You can also remove the blasting cap and powder, then reassemble it, rendering it into what is known as a ‘dummy round’. Or you can make a dummy round by not adding powder to the casing. This would turn the bullet into a non-firing keepsake/memento. I don’t know if the bullet left at the gravesite is an actual live round, but with the mowers and weed-eaters used out there, that would be reckless!

My mother told me that captain Frank Hamer is my 2nd cousin and my grand father Joe Wolf is cousin to captain Frank Hamer and Joe Wolf father O.P.Pack Wolf was a marshal of Snyder Texas and Scurry county from 1906 to 1926 and he was also a honorary Texas Ranger.My great grand mother was Martha Sims and she had a sister,Gladys Johnson Sims who became Gladys Johnson Hamer.I'm proud of my great grand father and my 2nd cousin.

Just came across this vid and I enjoy any coverage that gives these two their due.
The Canadian Coin that you show is called a Toonie. Here in Canada we do not have $1 nor $2 bills, we have coins instead. The $1 coin has a water bird called a Loon on it and the coin has be called a Loonie pretty much since day one. The $2 despite having a Polar Bear on in has been stuck with the nickname Toonie, as in 2 ones it has even been spelled Twoonie.
It was great to see the Toonie on Gault's marker, though sad Hamer didn't have one as well.
Plus one more bit for you. You mentioned the first man Hamer arrested, a bit more to it. The man was in fact Hamer's employer at the time who had shot Hamer in the back and Hamer survived and escaped when a colored field hand found him and took him home and had his wife look after him while he went to find Hamer's family.
It is this action that it is believed that gave him the lifetime of respect that he had for people of colour and fueled his actions with the KKK and his hatred of Lynchings.

Have a book about Raymond. Bank he put out of business is still there in Cedar Hill, TX. I think Raymond was busted out of the bloody ham by Clyde out of guilt, because of a misidentification of another early criminal in a botched robbery. Lancaster Bank foundation is still there. tiles almost completely removed after the tornado that destroyed it.
What is the name of that book? Would be interesting to do a video on him and show those banks.

Fighting the KKK, saving a lot of African Americans from lynching and killing Bonnie and Clyde what wonderful, brave men they were. Who would want to marry a woman though, that shot her husband in front of her children. How did the law let her off when she did it in front of witnesses at the court ?

@@swansfan6944 he was a former Civil war vet who fought in the Confederate side but later on in the war, he deserted the army because he felt delusioned to the Confederacys cause and and that stuff. He formed a guerilla miltia full of other deserters and escaped slaves and fought the Confederecy from the 1860s to early 70s. He married a black women and had children. He died in 1922 in his 80s.

In the film bonnie and Clyde shows them capturing hamer and humiliating him this never happened and his family was very angry about it✌️

Frank Hamer was a straight up gun hand. Thing is, He was who was sent when the talking was over. If you read his history, seems like he was born about 50 years too late.
You're right. He was really the last of the great western lawmen. He was once asked if it was true he had killed 50 men and he changed the subject not wanting to boast or brag. There are documented stories of him cleaning up towns and doing it without firing a shot. So regardless of current opinion with Bonnie and Clyde be was not a trigger happy man. He was never proud of what he had to do to Bonnie especially. But he did get the job done. Bob Alcorn and Ted Hinton had already had their run in with Bonnie and Clyde and they all knew how they had to be taken.

My great grandfather was a Methvin. I've been told that Bonnie and Clyde broke out of prison with Henry or they broke him out of prison. Henry also drove their car for them for a while until his dad had them set up for the ambush.

I just researched for an hour trying to find why Maney Gault Freemason symbol has a "C" instead of "G" in the square and compass symbol. Couldn't find any answers

Anytime you are visiting a Texas cemetery you should scan across the headstones looking for the Texas Ranger cross. There is usually a good story to research there.

500 miles per day on those roads and speeds I call BS. It takes me 11 hours from Central Cal to Yuma Az 555 miles only stopping for fuel and food, on today’s interstates an at 70 plus Mph. And I won’t do it day after day.

No I didn't even realize they had one there. I know they have a Texas Ranger Museum in Waco that I have been wanting to go to. We just didn't have the time and the girls aren't interested in that sort of thing. Sarah and I or just myself will have to take a trip down there and cover more in Texas. There is just so much I want to cover down there. It's full of history.

When I was around 10 years old a trailer came to town and it had Bonnie & Clydes death car in it and also Hitlers touring car and they charged a couple bucks to see it there was several of the guns of Bonnie & Clyde in this trailer on the wall also
That Bonnie and Clyde car toured for quite some time. I had no idea about Hitlers though.

I never knew that they were both Freemasons. Both headstones have the Square and Compasses. The only Texas Ranger I ever knew was Roy Williams. I believe he was a captain as well. He was my friend and a member of my lodge. Ironically the name of the lodge is "Texas 8". I'm no longer a member, I got tired of the politics 😴.

Well goodness.. Hamer married a woman who shot/plotted to kill more people than Bonnie did ! Which was 0. His wife done offed her husband... and he killed the man's brother in law. Today they would both be in prison.
