Great video. No matter what the build, it's hard to optimize the Horizon walker's Bonus Action Economy.
You're absolutely right about only taking the Ranger to level 11. Other classes do the same things better with more benefits by multiclassing.
For my build, I chose the Shadar-kai race (a type of elf). My DM is allowing firearms, and Shadar-kai allows 2 proficiencies with weapons you normally aren't proficient with (i.e. firearms).
I did Arcane Trickster instead of Soulknife to continue my spell progression and expand my spell list, and focused on using my bonus action to use the Rogue's Steady Aim feature with the Elven Accuracy feat.
Because I am a Horizon Walker, when I use Steady Aim my speed becomes 0, but I am able to teleport 30 feet on my turn, negating the drawbacks of the feature, and getting super advantage from Elven Accuracy every turn. I almost guarantee my hit (even with Sharpshooter -5 to ATK), guarantee sneak attack, and am more likely to crit.
I love building from story perspective & luckily for me my DM has OK'd a stat change for Warlock from Charisma to Wisdom if I wanna go that way or ill drop into rogue for trickster.
I also changed the portal sense to the Intelligence version of the faerie wanderers Charisma + Wisom class feat.
I’m about to start a game at level 5, where I was going to be playing an Astral Elf Horizon Walker (with some 40k inspired backstory and flavor). I think I’m going to re-work the character as a Soulknife multiclass, drawing heavily on this.
I very much enjoyed playing horizon walker
It's a strong and under vauled ranger because gloom came with it
It's fun for sure. Anything that has to do with teleportation is gonna be a banger
As soon as you get to ranger 11+ spirit shroud becomes better than hunters mark.
With vast number of attacks that you get going dragonborn (fizbans metallic) clearing the field a bit left and right.
I think I am averse to it cause of the bonus action damage. Fey and swarm both give extra damage without a bonus action. Doesn't help my favorite ranger spell is zephyr strike.
Zephyr Strike = underrated
Reborn Owlin will give you stealth and fly speed
Reborn Winged Tifeling gives u flight in medium armor
Why no action surge to double the number of attacks?
Action Surge absolutely fits here. I wanted to maintain the theming with the extra Rogue levels but 2 into Fighter would also work great
@@DapperSnapperGaming Psi-knight also comes close in theme.
the psychic blades feature seems unnecessarily restrictive to me. Summoning more than one blade and giving a d6 bonus action on a rogue wouldn't break the game
I agree, especially given the fact that you can't Sneak Attack more than once anyway and can't hold the main action on to proc a second Sneak Attack since the Bonus Action blade depends on the Action being already used

It’s tragic that you build a Horizon Walker yet ignore it’s best feature. Planar Warrior is such an amazing and exploitable ability.
