Playing one in our current campaign. Vedalken race gives it a cool theme and is also strong, and one level artificer to start with is a nobrainer too imo.

Are you gonna cover the dunomancy spells that are specific to this subclass? I'd consider them part of the subclass features.

just leveled my wizard to 2 last nite in a campaign with some friends. finally decided on chronurgy and rogue nat 1s a stealth check. i was like NO NO NO. and the rogue said "you can do that". very cool subclass excited to play

I think the thing I like most about the 2024 PHB is the death of the Crossbow Expert/Sharpshooter monopoly.

At least two levels into Abjuration Wizard makes Eldritch Knight the best Gish in the game. Also Weapon Bond is basically theft. Sell your sword. Ride off into the distance. Get it back. Where’d it go? No-one knows. Find a way to spend an hour alone with the intelligent, +3 artefact. Ride off into the distance. As above.

Hexblade is the subclass you get when you ask a committee of sugared up 12 year-olds to upgrade Pact of the Blade. Did anyone read this before it was published?

Because what the underpowered Wizard class needed was a martial buff. Every bit of this is not great. Every bit of this is unbalanced, Mary Sue, power creep.

College of Swords is genuinely baffling. The design brief seems to have been to take the perfectly serviceable, existing, martial sub-class and make every single aspect objectively worse. Forget play test, this sub-class shouldn’t have survived the laugh test.

Sorry brother, that was the most lacklustre list of 6th level Magical Secrets spells ever compiled. Fireball and Hypnotic Pattern will be basically obsolete in a few levels. Revivify, Spirit Guardians, Fly, Phantom Steed (ritual), Counterspell, Animate Dead and maybe even Gaseous Form and Haste are better options, depending on your character.

3 level dip into grassland gives base wild shape, a bonus cantrip, spell recovery and invisibility/pass without trace always prepared. Good luck keeping a grassland Druid in or out of anywhere.

Just a clarification. Rules as written, an Oathbreaker can be true neutral (this was confirmed somewhere by someone who makes these rulings). Oathbreaker is an excellent multi class option if you cap it out at lvl 6. Basic Paladin features to this point are powerful. Bonus spells and sub-class features to this point are powerful.Add bard/sorcerer/warlock levels and all of a sudden you have upcast hellish rebuke, inflict wounds and smites for days. The only downside is that your GM will only let you play this build once.

Gonna have to disagree with most of this. Charisma is a dump stat for a Rogue, most of the Swashbuckler’s features don’t even reference Cha and the ones that do are underwhelming for their effect and level. If I want an Inigo Montoya type character I’m picking a different subclass and just role-playing the swashbuckler part.

Anyone who regularly plays spell casters understands how versatile and useful Mage Hand is. The Arcane Trickster Mage Hand is a significantly better version of an already superior cantrip that is a constant threat, sneak attack on the GM. Part easy mode, part wrecking ball. In all honesty it probably needs to be nerfed.

1 lvl of Draconic Sorcerer at lvl 1 before multi-classing into any other class is S tier. 13 Cha is relatively easy with any build.

Starting, one level dip into draconic sorcerer is a very strong buff for a warlock.

Abjuration Wizard is not a novice sub-class. Sure, your survivability is improved so it’s a little more forgiving of inexperience but its effectiveness scales exponentially with experience and each of its sub-class features is powerful and kicks in at just the right time. Arguably, the best of the 2014 PHB (Portent is over-rated tinsel) and definitely holds its own against any of the newer sub-classes from Tasha’s Chamberpot of Whatevering.

Brother, your lacklustre analysis of Abjuration Wizard in the intro leads me to believe that you may not have a huge amount of experience playing as one. Is it OP? A little. Is it one of the best? Arguably, yes. Is it a little bit boring? Hell no. Doesn’t really have a reliable counter. Does well against Evocation Wizards, Totem Barbarians and everything in-between. If you’re ever fighting against an Abjuration Wizard you’d better have a plan to focus fire and take it out as early as possible or your party is getting shredded.

No tables I have ever been close to have allowed third party homebrew like rick & morty or critrole without first asking, and if going to a table running the new rules its kind of groad attarcting to play chronurgy on these tables. As such, please clearly label videos that are just third party content so we dont accidentally get clickbaited into content banned on most tables.

This is by far one of the most powerful subclasses out there i really hope that we get a build that isn't Variant human or custom lineage so a 10/10 is perfect for it see you all at the build video again please dapper give us something that isn't bland sandwich i will tolerate the choice of V Human or custom lineage for the third video in a row but i would be upset about the lack of flavor we've been getting lately it's your channel though so i guess it's not up to me

Me with my warlock: um yeah I am going to run away from the bad guy. DM: ok, but you will take a hit. Me: Oh no... Also, me: being the only one to remember I cast armor of agathys last session and never got hit. Gets hit deals the cold damage, then uses hellish rebuke as a reaction. That character never rolled well, so it was the only way I could do reliable damage.

God damnit another variant human build can we please get some variety here? I'm tired of us using V human and custom lineage in this series I want some variety here

I feel like tempest cleric levels are really wasted here. Honestly? Youd get more out of war wizard, some artificer or ranger 🤷

I like the concept, but wish it had more healing sooner or like a blood drain ability.

While Elegant Maneuver can be used to escape a grapple, my sense is that it's designed for swinging on chandeliers Errol Flynn style.

I played this subclass in a campaign. The second level feature fluctuates in value based off of how much gold the dm gives out. This was an AMAZING feature to have since it was a grim campaign and we had very little gold. If my familiar died I could bring it back without worry. If I needed to set up magic mouth as an alarm network I could. We had a house that I could set up glyph of warding around. The hex feature was ruled to work with magic missile, so for 1-3 damage taken to me I could boost my damage significantly (sometimes doubling it). With set up and downtime I could cast instant summons on my items, which let me recover them from our base if they were lost, and I could never have done that without the 2nd level feature. Not the most broken subclass, but if you use the reduce cost outside of combat it’s insanely useful if you don’t have lots of gold.

Should have been a Warlock subclass but it is certainly flavorful if not particularly "powerful"

I personally believe that this is the only subclass that you should start in a different class which i believe artificer is the best option it has a decent d8 instead of d6 and it has proficiency in both intelligence and constitution and personally gnome is the best race/species option i really don't want another variant human or custom lineage feat spam because it's so god damn boring in my opinion but it's not my channel so if we get another boring variant human or custom lineage feat spam i would accept it but i wouldn't be happy about it but don't mind me I'm just tired of the peanut butter and jelly sandwich easy build i want variety and variant human or custom lineage doesn't count as vareity in my opinion

i'd love to see a scribes build, I think there's a lot of funky things you can do with the ability to shuffle damage keywords, it makes wall of water really good and worth a 3rd level slot, and absorb elements a must pick.

Hear me out: Take the Tortle you mentioned near the end, and take a background that gives you the Magic Initiate (Druid) feat. Nothing in the Bladesinger says you have to use a sword. As long as you're not two-handing the weapon, it's viable. Now that you have Shillelagh, you could call yourself the Stick Singer and still get to use your INT for everything.
