    I was advised to use E5 by my Honda dealership when i bought mine. I had the quick shifter fitted and it's only up. It's a great bike i love it 👍

    • @cbr650ruk3
      @cbr650ruk3  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s interesting to know. When I bought this, it wasn’t as common to have the E10 at pumps. Since then it’s hard to get Unleaded E5 without having to purchase the higher octane.
      I have dropped some comments below about the quick shifter and downshifting. Mechanically, it’s possible as the gear is unloaded on a downshift. However, the revs need to be fairly low. For proper downshifting and track days an auto-blipper would be best

      I certainly would recommend it. This is my first bike (not just big bike) and it is so easy and manoeuvrable to ride. Has enough power to have fun on or get yourself out or trouble and the biggest thing, it’s useable power 👍🏻

    i think you need to change clip ons, to get more racey ones but also more beautiful also, the brake master cylinder to get a round cup like proper race bike because the square one reminds me of hondas back in 20 years ago

  • @stfu6397

    Still choosing between the Yamaha R7 and the 2022 CBR650 R but the R7 just lacks punch. It’s lighter and more “sporty” to drive but when youre above 60mph it’s just too slow for me. Sure this one weighs quite a bit but the sound of the 650 with an akrapovic just sounds too good compared to that r7 and other parallel twins.

    Nice video! Are you using OEM quickshifter? Because I have one too fitted on my CBR650R 2021, but it's only for the upshifts. In the video, you've mentioned downshifting too?

    • @cbr650ruk3
      @cbr650ruk3  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The upshifting is possible because the quick-shifter electronically interrupts the ECU to stop ignition for milliseconds. This allows the gear to be unloaded and change.
      When downshifting, the gear is not under any load apart from some engine brake. I tend not to downshift without using the clutch, but I have downshifted on a few occasions when revs are lower without the clutch and it’s fine. You shouldn’t / won’t get any gear crunching, so it’s not doing any damage

    • @KingKofi01
      @KingKofi01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Downshifting with a quickshifter requires an auto blipper and throttle by wire tech. The cbr650r does not have either.

    • @cbr650ruk3
      @cbr650ruk3  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KingKofi01 as you have probably seen in my comment above, it is possible to downshift, but not through the technology of the quick shifter. It’s simply the gearing not being under any load and Rev matching

  • @revarak8852
    @revarak8852 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    E5 is the fuel I use. Also the shifter i believe is only for upshifting as CBR650R doesnt have flyby wire gearbox, shifting down with it can cause damage to gearbox i believe

    • @MrBlue2589
      @MrBlue2589 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unless it's an autoblipper that does both... Also if you're going into a lower gear by closing throttle it in no way damages the gearbox unless in you're really grinding gears and don't know how to downshift.

    • @cbr650ruk3
      @cbr650ruk3  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching and thanks for the comments.
      The upshifting is possible because the quick-shifter electronically interrupts the ECU to stop ignition for milliseconds. This allows the gear to be unloaded and allow the change.
      When downshifting, the gear is not under any load apart from some engine brake. I tend not to downshift without using the clutch, but I have downshifted on a few occasions when revs are lower without the clutch and it’s fine. Whether it would do that normally or the QS is helping I am not sure.
      Same applies with a manual car gearbox. You can change gear without the clutch if you Rev match

    Nice review, how is it around heavy traffic. Only have room for one bike and I ride into central London most days. How would it be in commuter traffic. Heart says CBR head says CB

    • @cbr650ruk3
      @cbr650ruk3  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s actually really good. The clutch is light and the bike is really well balanced. I am also from London, so I am used to traffic, filtering and such like.
      The CB may be a little more suit as it’s a more upright bike, but I don’t find this heavy on my wrists. The position is not full race, but it has the more aggressive look

    • @davidg2116
      @davidg2116 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cbr650ruk3 The CB will be better but I hope the CBR will be good enough. My commute in is just under an hour so not too long, and that's on a much smaller naked bike. The CBR is appealing for the winter months to keep some of the chill off. Plus it's a much better looking machine.

    Quick question: I used to have a cbr500r and despite it being fast enough for the UK roads it got pretty boring after a while. How do you feel about the 650r? Is it fast enough to keep you engaged or do you think it will get lack luster after a while?

    • @cbr650ruk3
      @cbr650ruk3  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Personally I feel it’s enough, although there will always be room for a 1k cc in the garage!
      However, I don’t think you need anymore and even pushing it, it will never be at its limit. It has over double the horsepower of the CBR500, so I think it is a very different bike and you will notice the difference.
