October of 77' I was 16. I bought a low mileage 1970' charger 500 383/2bbl, automatic console with power steering and front disc brakes am/fm-8track stereo. Clock gauge package with tachometer and factory air conditioning. Had the magnum 500 wheels on RWL Laramie F70's single exhaust with a hush thrush muffler. 323 rear. Gloss maroon with black vinyl top and black bucket vinyl. I paid $950.00 dollars for the car and looked brand new with just over 65,000 miles on it. Wished I still had it. That and my 68' barracuda notchback 318. Are the only two cars I ever missed in life. This car brings back the memories ❤

68 was the best year as far as looks. The round tail lights and the clean front end without the goofy chrome wrap around bumper. Plus the console was chrome, not cheesy woodgrain. As for the 150 speedo, my 68 had a 383 HO and it would cruise at 145 comfortably and was incredibly stable at that speed. I grew up just outside of DC and would go up onto 95 North on Sunday mornings around 7am, a couple of miles north of the DC beltway, and open it up going towards Baltimore for 20 miles or so. Never more than a couple of cars out so it seemed safe. Looking back, maybe not, but it's something I'll never forget.

Oh… and my ‘70 has the console with the offset Pistol Grip, high back buckets, and 440 Six Pack. All of which was only available in 1970. 😁

My 70 Charger 500 had vacuum headlight covers that worked just fine. 383 4 barrel with an automatic. Bucket seats but no console.Sure wish I had it now. Remember the turn signals duplicated out on the hood. I loved the six bulb tail lights and the wrap around front grill. The brakes were so-called taxi brakes, very large drums without self adjusters.

Back in the late 80s I had a chance to buy a car that looked exactly like this except it was an RT and had a 383 Magnum for $900. The car had about 106,000 miles on it and had been very well taken care of even had a luggage rack on the trunk. Unfortunately, I couldn't scrape the money together and have always looked back at it as the biggest regret I have ever had.

Nice! I got my ‘70 Charger in 1985 for $1200. Literally a basket case… I bought home parts in milk crates. It’s an F8 with black vinyl top and black and charcoal interior. Factory 440 Six Pack 4 speed Dana. I want to go with C7 and no vinyl top. 😀

This was originally a 318 car with the VIN (from the HOC website) for the win: X for Dodge Charger, P for Premium price class, 29 for two door sports hardtop, G for 318 V8 with two barrel, 0 for 1970 model year, G for St. Louis, MO assembly (Fenton) and the rest is the production sequence. The Fenton, MO plant complex operated from 1959 to 2009 and was the main minivan plant in the US for a time.
We got the tag, we can brag: END for end of sales codes, R11 for Music Master AM radio, 2 watt economy, Y16 for sales bank, V1X for full Black vinyl roof, C16 for console with woodgrain and seat belt holder at the rear, C55 for bucket seats, G33 for LH chrome remote outside racing mirror, M21 for drip rail moldings, M31 for body belt moldings, FK5 for Dark Burnt Orange exterior paint, C6K4 for Burnt Orange bucket seat interior trim, 203 for Tuesday February 3, 1970 scheduled production, E44 for 318 V8 with two barrel, approximately 230 HP, and D31 for A904 three speed Torqueflite automatic transmission.

I reckon any Charger over those years 68 to 70 is a pretty good looking car. I actually love the look of that chrome grill, was just a sign of the times. But then I also like any cars of that era, Ford Escort Mark 1, Citroen 2CV, Hillman Hunter, Vauxhall Ventora, Ford Capri Mark 1, Austin 1100, Citreon DS15, Boss 429 Mustang, Mercury Cougar Terminator and Trabant 3 cylinder 2 stroke, Reliant Robin was pretty good too in those years !

Hello I'm just curious, does anyone know if you could have ordered a 1970 Charger RT with bench seat and on the column shift? Crazy, I know. But I was just thinking what a rare option it would be compared to all the bucket sear floor shift RT cars out there.

That's smart someone left the so-called trim tag 1970 un repainted with dry rot or otherwise so-called patina & every grunt line build part of the car is super readable unlike the very poor decision to go nuts on the spray and stupidly drown said tag where you hardly can read the build sheet numbers.
