Thanks for the no-nonsense, clean presentation. There were no distractions, no sportscaster voice, annoying music. I traded in my Mavic Air and pretty much got my full expenditure back which made the Mavic @ Pro Combo with the Smart Controller the cost much more palatable. Great channel, I've subscribed, looking forward to more informative videos.
I'm looking to buy a Mavic 2 pro, and because I don't have a smartphone, I was looking for a Crystal Sky tablet. But I saw this controller and I started to hesitate in my choice. So I watched your video with a big interest and I think I'll watch your others videos. But finally, thank to your video, I more and more think this controller a better solution in my case, especially with the bundle. Thank you for your video and for your demonstration.
Another great video, very informative. You are so comfortable in front of the camera. I have tried several times, but just don't have it down yet. Practice, practice, practice!
Very nice. There is probably going to be one of these in my bag by the spring. I’m hoping that some third-party or even DJI themselves come out with some sort of tripod mount that would utilize the bottom holes. If not then some very strong Velcro should do the job. The all in one convenience of this is worth it in my case. Only one battery to charge and not having to put a sun hood on each time should be much more convenient.
Appreciate this walk-thru. I was looking for some details around the HDMI out and hadn't been able to test the output configuration options. This nailed it!
I see one problem with using the controller on more then one drone, the reset button is very weak and can be pushed into the drone itself if pushed to hard. Rick Smith has a video out on that. So if you change a lot, you may be sending your drone in for repairs. Thanks again great video like always
Typical DJI and corporations in general making a compatibility issues. Another deal breaker for me personally moving away from DJI. Great video thanks. Need to talk with you about a potential project I need to accomplish. Will get in contact
Thanks for showing the HDMI output in action. That might be useful for clients to see the feed if you have a portable screen on a job. Have you compared this to the HDMI output on some P4P controllers? If I recall, you won't get 4K from that output. Thanks again for demoing!
thank you so so much for sharing the HDMI resolution settings!! I've been looking for this for 2 weeks and you're the only person who's thought to post it :D
I just bought the smart controller with the DJI Air 2S. I will be leasing my drone to consumers and enterprises. I wish that I could buy the original controller to have on hand as well.
You mention an HDMI out to plug into a monitor. Can that monitor be one of the Crystal Skys. I have the Ultra Bright model and this would be a good reason to keep it.
I have used an HDMI to USB webcam adapter that makes the Smart Controller’s HDMI output look like a webcam to the Crystal Sky. With side-loaded webcam display software on the CS you can see the Smart Controller’s HDMI output on the Crystal Sky’s screen.
Informative video. I have seen that the DJI Simulator for PC now accepts the Smart Controller as an available control option, but it's not clear whether it is possible to see anything on the Smart Controller screen when using the simulator i.e. would I be able to see a simulated camera view on the Smart Controller screen while I have the controller connected to my PC while I am flying on the simulator?
If possible could you do a screen size comparison with the smart controller and an iPad mini 4? After that I think I can make a better judgement call. Thanks
I do like the controller a lot. Can you do a video how to Yah or Orbit with the sticks manually? Thanks a lot. Do you need different settings with this controller? Thanks a lot 🙏.
Also, do you know of any portable cases yet that will house the Smart Controller, the Drone and a few extra batteries? Thanks for making these video and doing the work to get us information. It is appreciated!
I thought I lost my mavic 2 pro controller this week and went to look for a replacement on DJI. The controller is $400... at this point Id rather spend the extra 250 to get this controller if I am needing one. Will I buy it straight out? Negative. If mine breaks or gets lost... yuuup
Hi I like your non bias comments ,could u please advise me with the smart controller with the SD card on top does it record everything you take or do u need to download from mavic ,and is there a setting to set it up.thanks Peter Australia
Question on the controller. I’ve always used the DJI app to make edits. When switching to the controller do you still have the cache and editing of the feed on the phone?
The real test of 3rd party functionality will be if drone mapping apps such as Drone Deploy, Pix4d or even DJI's own GSpro will function properly and Google Maps will work. Professional users aren't concerned about playing games etc. In the past, Google Play and 3rd party apps would install on the CrystalSky and appear to function through sideloading and APK files, but they usually wouldn't launch, crashed or were unstable and not useful and usually gave a message that Google Play services were incompatible with the device.
Thanks Eric. Like mentioned, I will need to test it. I was able to search and download, but I have yet to play with the apps as I mentioned in the video. I will report on how this goes. Thanks for the insight.

I am using Mavic Air 2 and already paired, is there any way I can delete or hide models I don’t have, it’s kind of unknowing to swipe left and right to choose your drone every time that’s already been paired.

Newbie question, do you the 128 gig micro chip in the Mavic 2 drone or in the Smart Controller? All the pictures and data where on the Smart Control when I plug it in to the computer, and nothing was on the drone.
You can link them both to the controller and then select which one you’re going to fly using “Aircraft Managment” in the settings menu. No need to re-link when you change birds.
Good Morning Aldryn, Hope you can help. Reslly enjoy & learn from your videos. Thanks. I have been flying drones for few years. Bought Mavic 2 Pro when it came out. Setup with gesr & ipad took to long when in hurry to get a shot. I bought the M2Zoom with the Smart Controller. Have used the Smart with both drones. But I shot this video & as it started out over the ice your see it stops. I had no control with the Smart Pad. I hit return to which it did. I fly this shot alot, never had this problem with std. controller. Switch back to old controller Pad & finish the video.?? Later back flying on Smart Pad I was getting Obstacle system turning off & on by itself. Also old pad had me do the compass circle dance before flying. The Smart Pad does not ask at all. The list pops up when starting shows all ok before flying. Can’t find were to set my compass dance. It walks you thur setting the compass by rocking back & forth the Smart Pad. Sorry so long. Last old pad you could slide the screen sideways to set home point - brightness. It’s missing on Smart Pad. All firmware is up to dste. Aldryn the question I have is, can you use the app AirMap? I understand you need to use Amazon App Store to download third party apps, and AirMap is not available in the Amazon App Store.
Well that makes my final decision for me. I’ll be dam if I’ll pay $650. For an accessory that will not run the apps that I can use on my IPad Mini4. If I have to use a screen hood I will. As far as Crystal Sky goes I’ll stick with my IPad Mini4 since I have to do the same prep that I do now. Well DJI you won’t be getting my $650.
Setting the "Return to Home" point with the DJI Smart controller is restricted to the launch point only. Which is a huge problem if you want to launch your drone from, say, a moving boat! I can't understand why DJI left this feature off. I often set my RTH point to the actual hand set because it allows me to move location and still bring my drone back to me.

Hello, I have a mavic air 2 and the dji smart controller I have a problem, I cannot find the operation and the setting on the dji smart controller for the gimbal so I can actually climb up and down on the wheel left and I thought the right thumbwheel also worked to steer right to left and it doesn't work, maybe there is a trick, thanks.
Hi! I know you're a busy guy but thought you might be able to help me solve this one or at least bring awareness to this problem I'm having with the new DJI Smart Controller. I’ve got a brand new Mavic 2 Zoom/Smart controller combo up in Toronto, Canada. I’m unable to "activate" the mavic 2 on the final setup screen on the smart controller through the DJI GO 4 APP due to it saying unable to connect to the internet and yet I was able to download the firmware and even browse the internet with the built in browser app... I’m working with DJI but have yet to find a solution... They’ve now recommended I use the DJI GO 4 App on my phone separately to activate but I have no idea how to do this as its not like the original Mavic Pro where plugging your phone into the controller is required. Is there a way to connect an iPhone to the Mavic 2 directly or via the smart controller? I wasn’t able to figure it out... I’ve also tried the Assistant app to re-download the firmware, reset both devices settings to factory. I've tried different wifi networks and and even tried re-binding the aircraft to the controller... Hope nobody else is having to deal with this... I can’t find any information on this issue anywhere!
*****SOLVED***** All steps below were completed on the DJI Smart Controller. No separate device/phone required. 1. DJI GO 4 APP - Go through the activation process until it tells you “Check your internet connection” 2. SETTINGS - Toggle the WiFi off 3. DJI GO 4 APP - Select back ON THE SCREEN to the first page of activation - Then press next without changing anything right through to the final page press ACTIVATE 4. SETTINGS - Toggle WiFi back ON 5. DJI GO 4 APP - Repeat Step 3 *****SOLVED*****

So, do you know if it will or not?
Yes it does, but just barely with a tight fit in the front outside zippered pocket.
Aldryn, is the WAYPOINT feature not available on the Smart Controller?
Being Google Android software based is the biggest plus **
Hello, I have a mavic air 2 and the dji smart controller I have a problem, I cannot find the operation and the setting on the dji smart controller for the gimbal so I can actually climb up and down on the wheel left and I thought the right thumbwheel also worked to steer right to left and it doesn't work, maybe there is a trick, thanks.

Can I send video to my multi camera live streaming platform from the hdmi?
*****SOLVED*****
All steps below were completed on the DJI Smart Controller. No separate device/phone required.
1. DJI GO 4 APP - Go through the activation process until it tells you “Check your internet connection”
2. SETTINGS - Toggle the WiFi off
3. DJI GO 4 APP - Select back ON THE SCREEN to the first page of activation - Then press next without changing anything right through to the final page press ACTIVATE
4. SETTINGS - Toggle WiFi back ON
5. DJI GO 4 APP - Repeat Step 3
