    In this video, I reveal 2 secrets that DJI didn't tell anyone when they released the Mavic 2 Pro and DJI Mavic 2 Zoom. These are features that everyone needs to know when buying and using the Mavic 2 drones. The 1.4x crop factor I mentioned equates to about 39.2mm. The downsampling to 4K is on the Full FOV, just for clarification. And according to DJI, both HQ and Full FOV use 10-bit color.

      @@brettgaramella You failed to mention that the Zoom will go from 28 to 96 mm. It will zoom 2x optically and 2 more digitally for a total of 4x. And this is while you're flying!

    • @F.W.Danley
      @F.W.Danley 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Brett Garamella you don’t like to digitally zoom but you don’t mind digitally cropping. That makes sense. That’s the whole purpose of zooming... being able to get the shot without flying closer.

    Here is a couple of suggestions I would like DJI to incorporate.
    1. In the "P" mode have ALL collision sensors turn on or make it in the menu what collision sensors you can activate. This would keep you from flying sideways in a tree.
    2. I would like to swap the settings in "LEFT" gimbal dial so I would rotate it to the "right" to point the camera down and rotate it "LEFT" to bring the camera back up.

But, the only option to this, (camera forward/down), has 2 steps, : pointing down and, then.....another click to straight forward. How come I see you do it by directly straight foraward by just pressing one time?🤷‍♂️

    That ability to zoom with the Mavic 2 Pro is an important feature. I bought the Zoom the other day, because of that. Had I known about being able to do that with the Pro, it would have been worth the little extra $ for the Pro version. Great selling point that they should capitalize on.

    I think you have to stop recording to switch Modes on the pro, with the zoom you can zoom while recording

  • @dbickers
    @dbickers 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    OK Brett, 2 questions, 1) I never thought about the zoom because it could zoom I guess. I'm thinking of the over all quality of the video because I'm going to take it to my editor to zoom and pan as needed. Am I missing something. You always loose something on a digital zoom so unless it is an optical zoom where you are filling the sensor without loosing pixels. 2) I asked you a question in another video that I had not received a response yet but I was thinking about waiting for the Mavic 3 or not. I'm also deciding my best controller. Phone, pad, glasses, goggles or their high end controller. I've had issues with my phone plug staying connected so that makes me nervous. Any suggestions? I also have a laptop with wifi.

    Please make a comparison of Zoom's 48mm and Pro's HQ mode to see differences in FOV and quality. I'm considering which of these drones to buy - I want the most zoomed image possible, but the image quality also plays a big role for me.

    • @MrKuba105000
      @MrKuba105000 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm a trainspotter :D Bigger zoom gives this nice flat perspective and shots look much more cinematic. I've been using Phantom 3P for 3 years and what I was missing the most was some longer lens / zoom on a drone. So when I heard about the Mavics 2, I was decided to buy Zoom version. However then discovering the HQ mode on the Pro made my choice much harder...

    • @MrKuba105000
      @MrKuba105000 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. In Pro the real focal length doesn't change, so the depth of field also stays the same, you only get a crop of this image. So in HQ mode DoF is equivalent to shooting with 1" sensor and f/4. It still will be shallower than 1/2.3" sensor and f/3.8, but it doesn't matter for me. I don't think you really need the shallow DoF in most drone shots and with Pro I would probably set aperture higher in most cases to have more in focus.
      The only things that matter for me are: 1) how big is the difference in IQ and color-gradability (in practice, not theory) 2) what is the difference in FOV of HQ mode and 48mm - I know it's not going to be huge, but those extra milimeters still matter for me. I would go for Pro only if an image after cropping in post to ~48mm is still noticeably better than Zoom's one. On the other hand I would still miss the possibility of changing focal length in shots. I'm rather leaning towards Zoom, but I will wait for the comparisons and more tests before final decision.

    thank's for heads up, still decided what drone buy. 4 of my top five, actualy my top 4 are dji, 5 is bebop2 but only cause of skycontroller black, dji should have put hdmi on mavic's and spark.
    but as old school film photographer i should tell you FOV is not FULL OV, It is Fiel Of View or you viewing angle, hence 28mm and 40mm 28mm being wide angle, and 35-50 being human eye frontal view depending on person.

    Regarding the Pro’s version... DJI did release this information. They Full FOV setting is the downsampled 5.x video crushed into a UHD resolution. The HQ setting is utilizing full pixel readout. (No binning). It’s also not a Hasselblad camera. It’s a Sony sensor DJI glass leveraging Hasselblad’s 10bit color science.
    Aloha

      DJI can call it Hasselblad... even though it is the same sensor as the Sony RX100 Mark 5 as all Hasselblad sensors are from Sony... AND... Sony bought Hasselblad outright about 2 years back. The lenses for my Inspire 2 are made by Fuji actually...

      @@drewarmstrong4325 : Check the details, DJI Directly own a large stake in Hasselblad.
      Ventizz (Private Equity Co.) used to own 100% of it.
      (Hasselblad: Colab with Sony since 2012)
      (Not sure who made my I2 Kit Lens, I thought it was a Panasonic?? - my Zoom Lens is a Panasonic Pancake Lens.)
