    Kelly, Great video here. Tons of really good information and I was really glad to see you do the battery test because I suspect that the 2.5 hours DJI claims will be of course approx. but with the screen at 100%. Lots of Reviewers were kind of bashing it because they claim the standard controller would go longer. One thing most or some of them don't know is that you can plug new Smart Controller into an "Aux Power Source" WHILE using it and keep flying. Awesome Q&A video.

      Thanks Mel! I had no idea that you could move the gimbal left and right by swiping your finger on the screen! Thanks for bringing that topic up. And I was shocked how long the battery went for. I was actually ready for it to drain so I could eat supper, but it just kept going. Also - I just saw your text and answered. Sorry - Philip beat you to it this week!

    Yes, Kelly. I agree with you. I got all excited about the Smart Controller and was over it in about one day. WAY too expensive and my iPad Mini works great. It fits perfectly in the jaw of the standard controller with a bigger screen. Need it? No way. Even at half the price, I see no need for it. Thanks for all you do, as always.

      Exactly! There's a card in the drone , why also one on the controller? What's the purpose? Does the drone footage also automatically transfer to the Smart Controller? There's nothing on this....

    Great video as always, appreciated. Couple of minor points ... 8:44 in relation to the SD Card speed, I think that message on screen was referring to the SD Card in the Mavic Pro2, not the controller. Other point was a tease, at 13:18 you ask why the smart controller is not available in the US as of January 13, 2018 .... Because it had not been released at that time (probably still in Alfa/Beta stage) :) Haha ... Gotcha. Love the vids, keep 'em coming!

  • @mikeshevlin
    @mikeshevlin 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Kelly I have a question. I have the SC and I have the M2P, Zoom and Enterprise Dual. I linked all 3. What's crazy is the only way you can use the pilot app is of you link an enterprise drone. The SC reboots when you use the Dual to go to pilot app. So my issue is this. If I turn off the dual and put on M2P which, was already linked avd put in inventory won't link because the system is on a different interface and go 4 app is no where to be found. So the only way I can get back to go 4 is link the M2P because it's not in inventory when the system rebooted to pilot app. It's crazy avd doesn't make sense. I have read that if you don't have an enterprise drone yiu can't even use the pilot app unless you have an enterprise to link. So I have to relink to get back to each app. I was hoping you would know anything. Thanks

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Michael - I had to read the question a few times to understand what you mean...it's a complicated situation. Unfortunately, I think that DJI is trying to segment the enterprise and pro/consumer lines with the DJI Pilot app. I'm not sure that what you are trying to do is possible..

    hi this video was very helpfull. just one question. my mavic 2 enterprise dual is being delivered tomorrow. and i received my smartcontroller yesterday but saw that the dji go 4 app is pre installed on it. i know from experience you need to the the enterprise range with the dji pilot app. will the dual fly on the dji go 4 app is it compatable. cause i tried loading the dji pilot app on it. i get to load the dji pilot apk via usb or sd card and it installs but it does not want to finish installation it keeps giving the error to say it is missing a resource file. and does not want to continue the installation. the app is there you can open it but because the resource file is missing it does not want to continue. i guess i can wait and see if it works on the dji go 4 app but 24 hours is a long time to wait to know if you wasted nearly $2000 or not.

    This question is for Kelly or anyone who has used the Smart Controller. Do you find that you miss the telemetry screen on the standard controller when using the Smart Controller which lacks this screen, info is contained within one screen instead of two. I think I would go the Crystal Sky route so that I wouldn't have to give up the second screen and I could use CS on any DJI controller and not just Occusync 2.0 drones.
    The FCC not approving DJI's application for the Smart Controller due to partial US government shutdown is plausible. I remember reading about how the shutdown is affecting the FCC.

Goggles are not great for low flying confined videography. But for low or high flying at any kind of distance beyond 100m distance you can see everything clearly. just imagine flying from your sitting room with a 100 inch tv on the wall and that's what the goggles are like. blows me away everytime i fly, if for some reason i have to look at my screen when flying i hate how small everything is after being used to the goggles.

    Great review. Is it something I want - no. I prefer the screen above the controls and would like a longer battery life or swappable batteries like you get with the Crystal Sky and Cendence controllers from DJI. The antennae positioning also leaves a bit to be desired. It seems too hit or miss. When flying, I've a lot to concentrate on. I don't want to be worried about having my antennaes correctly aligned, or changing my controller positioning to ensure good signal.

    Thanks Kelly. I know that you answered many questions but I have one more. On the bottom of the controller there looks to be a couple of 1/4 20 mounting holes. Am I right about that and what do you think they might be for? I use a wheelchair and I mount my controller for my am Mavic drones on to a cell phone mount attached to a bracket that I made up of Monfrotto super clamp etc. I think one of these controllers is in the future for me.

      @readysetdrone  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question - I asked the same thing of DJI and they told me they were for a "mounting bracket" but didn't give me any other details. I would assume that they could possibly be used in your setup.

      @cnyphotovideo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ready Set Drone Perhaps to hook up a lanyard or mount some other sort of sun shade or something. I’m sure that the third-party manufacturers will hit the ground running.

    The P4PV2 also now uses OcuSync 2.0 but no confirmation that it will ever work with this RC.

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you sure about that? According to the DJI web site, the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 uses OcuSync. It never mentions OcuSync 2.0 on the web site.

    • @PhilipUlrich
      @PhilipUlrich 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That port can be used for any display and is really just a mirror of the screen on the controller, but yes.. I believe it could be used for those.

      ste hack Sheffield cowboy Nope! Unless you have a second controller. Then you should be able to get it to work with the latest update. But you also will have to be using two controllers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      ste hack Sheffield cowboy there are other devices that could fit the bill if you already have the smart controller. Like the Vufine. I have not tried this myself yet though so I can’t attest to how good or bad it is.

    I fly with an iPad mini 4 and love the screen size just not bright enough, but I don’t think the 5.5 inch screen is big enough. But I like it and if I was going to buy something else it would be the 7.85 inch crystal sky. Same price bigger screen

  • @Bigtel1970
    @Bigtel1970 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    So, from most of the comments made, the only real down side of this controller is the price? It's effectively the same as having a Crystalsky built into a handset very tidily, meaning I can be ready to take off in a really short time. This is a high end controller that appeals to the serious flyer, not the casual user, and it looks good. People commenting that it won't fit in their current storage case.. well, it's a new product - what do you expect? It's like buying a house with a garage that will fit a Kia Picanto, then buying an Audi A6 and complaining it doesn't fit. I'm buying one, I'm not loaded, but I'm looking into flying/filming seriously, so it looks like the easiest tool to use.

      I believe that it can record full resolution up to 1080p, but not 4K.

    Hey Kelly, question about the dual remote. You can set the smart controller as primary and the original remote as secondary controller ??? That should work (my guess). Thanks for sharing!!
