Steel Ball Run (スティール・ボール・ラン), is the seventh part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Initially serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from January 19, 2004 to October 18, 2004, the part's publication later moved to Ultra Jump, where it was serialized from March 19, 2005 to April 19, 2011.
Set in the U.S. in 1890, the story follows Johnny Joestar, a paraplegic ex-jockey, and Gyro Zeppeli, master in the mystic art of the Spin, as the two compete in the trans-American Steel Ball Run race and uncover its benefactor's sinister motivations. - JoJo's Bizarre Encyclopedia (jojowiki.com)

Everyone is worried about the horses, but nobody mentions the raptors.
Raptors are much easier to adapt as they walk on just two legs and don't appear nearly as much as the horses.

Short: it will take alot of time because it costs a lot to animate horses
Talking like no anime has ever had horses lol
It’s a possibility, if they could do it before, they should be able to do it now. It’s not like the jojo series never animated horses before 😂
I swear if I read another "horses are hard to animate" comment i'll eat my shoes
@@igee1605 yes but the majority the of part 7 was with horse
@@igee1605Not only was most of Part 7 horse heavy, but there were also a lot of fights/action scenes with them included. So yes, it will cost a lot; more than most anime that just “feature” horses
Honestly, I just hope they take their time. If they animate part 7, then people will want 8. Then what after that? Wait for part 9 to finish first? I think they should wait until part 9 is near it's mid point, or ending so then the wait between the later parts isn't as large. Either way, I trust David Productions to make the right choice.
bruh it could easily be a decade before part 9 is even close to finishing
Plus it takes years to animate anyways
So by the time part 7 and part 8 animated part 9 might of finish or at mid point
Parts 7 & 8 are both long enough that you could for sure split each of them into two seasons like part 3 had - like, each part getting two seasons of 25-30 episodes each.
So even if it's like,
2025: part 7 first half
2026: part 7 second half
2029: part 8 first half
2030: part 8 second half
And let's say part 9 is the new longest manga part to complete, so it ends in 2034
That's still honestly not that long of a gap between the parts 8 & 9 anime?
That’s still a 4 year gap between the manga and anime. They still need time to animate 9 so in 2036 part 9 would be animated at the earliest.
Both Jojolion and Steel Ball Run are my favourite parts,I really want to see them animated!
Jojolion was my favorite part until the wonder of u. The worst arc of the entire series. It's longer then the entire part 1, but has less meaningful things happen.
Part 8 has alot of fun elements but to me it was just a mess.
@@Zeon081nah yo yo ma was the worst arc ngl.
Wonder of u hust wasnt enough and it was alot more about what it didnt do then what it did.
It was hype asf. But the flash forward is the worst thing in all of jojo to me so idk

@@Nothisndhdudjdjdj Yo Yo Ma had the decency to just be a fight and wasn't the final arc/villain. It felt like there was a lot building up for the finale of Jojolion but it just ended up being about Toru, a character we hadn't seen or met until the series was almost over. Vitamin C arc would've been a better finale than Wonder of U.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of SBR, next year is the 21st anniversary of it in this 21st-century, and 2026 is the year of the Horse which by the end of it on December 1st is the 40th anniversary of the franchise and would be a full 5 years since StoneOcean ended, so we’ll either be getting the SBR anime debut by the end of 2025 leading up to the end of 2026 for the 40th anniversary or on it by the end of 2026 itself, no later than that.
TL;DR JoJos part 7: SBR ought to debut between December 1, 2025, and/or December 1, 2026.

SBR is going to be an extremely high-risk, high-reward project for them. Between the narrative commitment they have to make, the animation challenges, and the sheer length of SBR's story, it will require significant investment on their part. HOWEVER if the risk pays off, they could cash in on something extremely special-- JoJo's anime has gotten so extremely popular and profitable for them, and YET it's wild to think they haven't even animated what is widely considered to be the most popular part in the series. High risk, high reward baby.
Actual all or nothing moment
i don't see it as a risk - even if its low quality is guaranteed success. Look at OPM season 2 for instance. Unless it's Berserk 2016-level bad, it will be fine.
SBR is the second highest rated manga of all time so it would be straight up stupid to pass up the opportunity.
i just hope its aired weekly... if netflix fucks up another jojo release i swear to god

There's a part of me that is kind of, expecting an in-between series before Part 7. Like an Eyes of Heaven Adaption. I wanna see SBR animated as much as the next guy but with how, I guess confusing? it might be to anime only fans when we go from a Reset Universe 2011 to an Alternate Universe 1890, even with the amazing Roundabout ED for Part 6 showing that "Everything still happened, only Part 6 was really affected by Pucci's final reset". I'm already expecting a bunch of people to see SBR's Universe as something related to Made in Heaven. So introducing SBR and Jojolion both in an Eyes of Heaven adaption might help ease in the idea of the SBR Universe, it also has interactions between counterparts so that's pretty neato.
"Everything still happened except part 6" doesn't make sense and there's no evidence in the story to support it. Why would everyone unrelated to the joestar bloodline suddenly have different names?
@fullscreenultra parts 1 to 5 still happened the same way. The only difference in the new universe is that Pucci doesn't exist. Without Pucci, Dio never entrusted his heaven plan to anyone, which means Dio's influence on fate was stopped after Jotaro killed him in part 3. Thats why Jolyne's name is Irene, because "the jojo curse" had been lifted. As for Ermes and anasui's name change.... idk, thats weird

God damn I hope so. Steel ball run is so special. It’s my favorite part. Steel ball run had to topple both battle tendency and diamond is unbreakable and it went above and beyond in telling such a captivating story with some of the best characters ever written
I don't know if it tops DIU, also BT was never really one of the higher tier Jojo parts, its early Araki with extremely awkward proportions and clunky writing and characters. Imo, Golden Wind and Stone Ocean easily top it, not even mentioning Part 8.
@@projekttaku1 That's how yooooooooou feel, I'm talking bout me. Part 7 is king for me, it has so many good character moments that appeal to me.
@@TheNoMoreGamer Agreed part 7 deserved the number 2 manga in the world
Battle Tendency and Golden Wind is PEAK, and if it tops Battle Tendency then that shi better be GOOD (I have not read parts 6+)
@@mario.gaming Eh, BT is honestly one of the lesser arcs for me, Parts 4 and 6 easily topple it, the writing and characters aren't too great in BT.
Imagine the pressure on the animators of part 7. There are already fan-made openings, themes, trailers and scene adaptations that are amazingly well done. The creators will have to at least match those fan made projects or they will just look bad.
SBR WILL be animated. It’s too crucial to Jojo to not be animated. Not sure it will be soon but it will happen. Great vid
If steel ball run ever gets announced they better release a part 5 esque pv, cause I will for sure cry if they did what part 6 did and have pngs flying across the screen.

So take your time David Production... I'm all up for your plan
Iirc a big reason for the longer breaks between Parts 4-6 comes down to their irregular episode counts making it take longer to track each season’s performance.
While Parts 1-3 were each standard 2-cour anime seasons, 4-6 clock in at 39 eps each, meaning they each spanned like three fiscal quarters. It took longer for each to release on DVD/BD, and even longer for sales figures to be in, which plays a big role in production of subsequent seasons.
I finished reading SBR exactly the day this video was released
I now believe in gravity, thank you.
If SBR gets animated, jojo will become super popular.
I know it's already popular, I mean mainstream
Like it wasn't before?

Correction, it will become mainstream

It's gonna cost a lot bu considering how popular the manga is it for sure is going to be worth it.
I really hope they spent longer on Part 7 and don't rush it
I haven't read SBR yet, but I know it is a hell of a lot longer than parts 1-6. Cours would be the best route so that everything could be animated properly without crunching on the producers
Speaking of which, I gotta get on the reading it
not sure if it is longer. pacing is different
@@andrewcone6847 It is objectively longer. Every part has gotten progressively longer in the manga. Obviously the anime remedies this with cutting and pacing so it probably won't be much longer than part 3 at best.
@@biggamerjfk8091 it's longer only by page count. look at jojolion. all those splash pages but almost nothing is happening. sbr not so much but it's still wastes more papee than previous parts
If there is a studio that can handle all that hard work is Mappa ( but let the workers go home this time )
yeah not happening. what Mappa needs is less work. not more.
It should be at least noted that the greenlighting of a project or even the general production schedule SBR can possibly have is not something entirely dependent on DP. Warner Bros,. has more say in that.
I really want part 7 to be a weekly release because I started jojo when part 5 anime was releasing but didn’t catch up to part 5 until it had already ended. I was excited when part 6 anime was announced and was looking forwards to the jojo Fridays which it seemed to be a great time every week when previous parts were airing but part 6 ended up being a batch release which did kill the hype for part 6 for me but I would still watch the batches the same day they released until the very end.
The manga for part 8 was an ok experience for me but the excitement of seeing a anime adapting a manga is more exciting to me and I just hope part 7 gets the jojo Friday treatment.
I excited about jojo part 7 more than gta 6 💀

I actually think batching the season would work best for the long monthly SBR as long as theyre well defined arcs
Horses are cheap compared to the fact that the animator needs to figure out how to show who fired the bullet at Johnny
Kono dio da
The Netflix thing is really the big question for me. It would turn the deserved excitement of any SBR adaptation into reserved annoyance and Steel Ball Run deserves better than that
I hope whatever deal they have expires by the time SBR comes out lol
@@xForts I got the impression that it was just for Stone Ocean, especially given the time disparity between Parts and how every season is a new project rather than just the next season in an ongoing series. But we'll see.
I hope I have some way of accessing it by then. Netflix is the only streaming service I use (I don’t have my own income yet) but I understand the dislike towards Netflix’s handling of Stone Ocean so I won’t complain if SBR’s not on there
I want Jojo back on Toonami again
Netflix recently removed all parts of jojo so I highly doubt Netflix will have anything to do with the future of jojo
I'm saying my prediction here in advance. I think SBR will be released in two halves. Not like batch release, but like 2 completely different parts with a couple years in between. SBR would be the longest part animated by a long shot that would likely need around 80 episodes to cover. Since the other recent seasons have had around 40 episodes, it makes sense. I think they will end the first half with Johnny and Gyro's toast at the end of Sugar Mountain. It's perfectly in the middle and the dialouge is just so perfect for a midway finale.
I think a announcement this year just saying it's in development with a trailer and release date announced next year.
The announcement this year is to simply say it's in development so jojo fans know the series hasn't been forgotten/ is continuing. The trailer and release date next year is so they have a good amount of time to do it justice and work out with Netflix a good release schedule that works for both of them. As Netflix is the biggest streaming platform and is the best option to go with. Hopefully Netflix has learned from stone ocean that the batch release schedule didn't work and does a better way this time.
I just hope that if SBR anime does happen, Netflix doesn't get the rights. Its because of how they handled Stone Ocean's release with their binge model stopped any momentum the anime had.
I'm going to be real, I don't think David Production has what it takes to take on a project like SBR because while the studio might still have the same name, they are not the same people anymore. After the part 5 anime ended in 2019, the studio had a major restructuring (basically they used to be one big team that did one project at a time and they split themselves up to take on more projects) and all the people who worked on the previous parts were moved to other projects(Like Fire Force in 2019 and the Urusei Yatsura remake they are doing since 2022, which was why those shows look as good as they do), and left Stone Ocean to what is essentially the B-team of the company. That's one of the main reasons why the Stone Ocean anime has a blatant dip in quality compared to the rest.
And If SBR is going to be treated the way Stone Ocean was treated, I'd rather not have any anime at all.
talking about horses reminds me of berserk 1997. they had scenes with horses, and its an old anime, and it means that it might not be that hard.
I hopefully it can be announced this year and comes out next year but we can say this next year and we are waiting for SBR for more months so, its between speculating and probably production reasons. I wouldn't by the cour format for Jojo, it has certainly worked for animes like Dr Stone or Bleach since it keeps the momentum going from the fans without jeopardize it with wait for a year for more batches

*jojo part 7 being recently announced to be animated*
Nice take on Goliath!
there could be a chance of SBR being animated sooner, I heard that DP's 'team B' took over part 6 which means that 'team A' has been on break from jojo since the rohan OVA's, which could mean that 'team A' would handle SBR and probably have it announced late this year? idk, this is just what I think. Either way, I don't mind how long it takes, as long as it has the part 5 treatment, ill be satisfied.
I pray they use the fan OP when it eventually comes out
I remember seeing an old petition to use the music of the fan opening a few years ago, I'm sure the composers would happily go with it. And hey, it's less work for the producers if they did do it.
Also the main most important thing in jojo part 7 is the teamwork between Jonny and Gyro, there's tons of fights where they have to work together to take down the enemy. so its very important to animate that instead of just focusing on one of them like they did with Jotaro.
Story board will take a long time average anime studios adapt mangas for story board take around 4 month and sbr have alot of chapters to review about and they need to basicaly change or adjust the story board before going production I'd say they are in pre production currently
I'm predicting a September announcement because a) DP will be done with their 2 current big projects by then, b) it'll fit with the current JoJo release cycle, c) from what I've heard, the story of Part 7 starts on a September, and d) 2024 is the 20th anniversary of Part 7. So late 2024 announcement with late 2025 release, generating hype along the way.
Great video!
Btw we are DEFINITELY getting an adaptation. JoJo is DP's cash cow and their baby; it's something they're passionate about and will make them a ton of money.
I just hope if part 7 gets adapted it has studio mappa type animation/detail
With the horses thing, there’s a technique of drawing over CGI animation. Like in Gundam Witch From Mercury they did this to animate the mechs
If we are at 16 months in March 2024 then we can assume a minimum of 24 months (November 2024) up to a realistic maximum of 30 months (May 2025). Then the part will last about 55-60 episodes (95 chapters with 40 pages each, StoneOcean was 39 episodes with 150 chapters 22-23 pages each), if they do weekly episodes and the anime airs in September 2025 we can expect SBR to last up until October/November 2026 if they don't take breaks between cours.
