- Dodge has built a unique reputation as America’s muscle car brand. In the race to be faster, quicker and more powerful, Dodge is turning the page to a new chapter. The brand’s first-ever electric car isn’t called the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept by coincidence - like the famed Charger Daytona model that was the first vehicle to break 200 mph on a NASCAR track in 1970, the Charger Daytona SRT Concept packs a performance punch.
It does so courtesy of a new propulsion system that joins high-horsepower household names such as HEMI®, Hellcat and Redeye. There’s a new pinnacle of performance in the Brotherhood of Muscle: Banshee.
The 800V Banshee propulsion system powers the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept car and screams performance, making Dodge’s first electric vehicle faster than a Hellcat in all key performance measures. The standard all-wheel-drive system is key to pushing beyond Hellcat performance while also improving all-weather capability.
eRupt Transmission
Unlike typical BEVs, the Dodge brand’s eRupt multi-speed transmission with electro-mechanical shifting delivers distinctive shift points, throwing shoulders into seatbacks in true Dodge style. The Charger Daytona SRT Concept also boasts a PowerShot push-to-pass feature. Activated by the push of a button on the steering wheel, PowerShot delivers an adrenaline jolt of increased horsepower for a quick burst of acceleration.
Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust
While most BEVs embrace their virtually silent electric motors, that just wouldn’t do for Dodge. The Charger Daytona SRT Concept voices a 126 dB roar that equals the SRT Hellcat, generated through a new, patent-pending Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system. Yes, Dodge added an exhaust to an electric vehicle.
The industry-first Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust pushes its one-of-a-kind performance sound through an amplifier and tuning chamber located at the rear of the vehicle. The Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust represents the next generation of tactile, bone-shaking, muscle attitude, creating a visceral “Dark Matter” sound profile experience in concert with the eRupt transmission.

Yeah a modern 2 stroke DFI v8 440 CID ETEC 2 stroke, not a piece of shit 4 joke stroke, get with the modern 2 stroke tech time like Rotax 850 ETEC turbo, zpikaris Patriot 850 turbo and achates power, those 2 stroke put out out way more power for the same CID than any POS 4 stroke could ever do. Can you hemi swap run just oil injection tilted in any position when running amsoil interceptor oil? Will you be running an ETEC oil injection VRO pump on your hemi swap?
And change it from all wheel to rear wheel drive

the small Jeep Magneto axial engine is 625 HP and 850 ft-lbs torque. so for of these mounted together gives 2500 hp and 3400 ft-lbs torque. That ought to get this thing moving!

These electric cars are killing off iconic cars but to be fair the sound is really the only redeeming quality at this point. The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is a great example of how to do an electric car right.
It needs a whole lot of polishing or 86 altogether, because that sounds terrible and cartoonish.
Sound will get polished, and eventually killed off. Adding sound is simply to achieve buy in from the folks who don’t want to let go of that engine.

This thing sounds like the dodge M4S interceptor. The car from The Wraith a 80's movie with Charlie Sheen in it. The car sounds unique and cool. The movie is cool I have watched it like 100 times in my life.

2.2l 4-cyl making 440hp with twin turbocharger, that thing had impressive engineering for a 80s car.
They should have built the M4S interceptor instead of this....Or an AWD one. Since the M4S was super aerodynamic, they could have used a modern turbo 4 cyl that put out 500+hp with great handling, 200mph top speed but could still get really good mpgs in eco mode. Due to it being lightweight & so aerodynamic.
I like how this thing comes w bodyguards. Hope that option doesn’t cost too much. Also this definitely sounds like a vacuum 🤣 yall accurate for that

As a Challenger driver myself, its sad to see the old ICE engines go. Dodge seems to do what it does best and stand out from the rest of the competition, albeit id rather just call it a performance EV in my eyes. New muscle cars die with the Challengers and Chargers next year, but at least those will be around for a while still.
Not really! At this point, the only great thing about ICE engines was the sound of a great muscle car. EVs are alot faster on acceleration, which is what you want if you are getting a muscle car.

If ICE is going to compete they should offer a better DFI 2 stroke v8 with exhaust trapping power valves to go along with electric motors. I say good riddance to anything 4 stroke. I never liked them in cars/trucks and I hate these fat ugly boring 4 joke outboards. I don’t care how’ fast they go!
The “exhaust” is cool, and I like the originality of the idea. I know dodge is trying to provide the experience that the sound creates, but I still can’t get past the gimmicky-ness of it. Bottom line, it’s just extra weight that doesn’t sound as good as a real hellcat V8 😆 other than that, I love this concept car! Gonna be cool to see these on the road.

What ever happened to there 440 CID v8 2 stroke DFI 1150hp prototype, it could easily go over 1650 hp with proper tuning, it had oil injection and DFI just like a Rotax 850 Etec turbo skidoo does now.
The performance is going to be amazing but they should have went hybrid for practical reasons.

Iys got a 2 stroke noise to it and its not a 4 joke stroke, electric motors are magnetic rotary 2 cycle engines. i do sound like a nut for saying this but DFI 2 stroke and electric is it for me. now tao the aether ZPE with an overunity homopolar motor generator N-machine like Bruce Depalma built and there you go, no chemical fuels, no explosive dangerouse lithium batteries, no charging stations to vandalize or someone getting hurt or killed off 480v. just 1000 to 3200Hp of pure electric torque and get it to make that 2 stroke noise!

The sound chamber is already done and can make something sound like a muscle car. Few teslas I’ve seen actually sounded pretty good. Never would have thought to use it for the mandated pedestrian noise at low speeds. Take the rules and ride the grey area. Let’s be real. What’s the cost? lol
