anyone who uses the stupid bath brackets is a mug . put 50mm by 25mm batten to support the underside edge of the bath ( all 3 sides ) then drop vertical batten to support from the batten to the floor. Does anyone know that a bath filled with water alone is the weight of 6 10 stone people ? approx 420kg ??? 1mm of movement after fitting = a leaking bath with a shower above. ESPECIALLY A PLASTIC BATH. FITTED TO A PLASTERBOARD WALL.
THX again for shpwing how simple YOU can fit a bath in just 15 min :D ... No in honesty it was really helpful to see how you change a bath and how to fit and level it right. THUMBS up and keep doing what you are doing !!!
Used your video to change bath for the first time in flat I rent out and can safely say wouldn't of been able to do it to the standard and confidence without it. Thank you!
I've come back to this video and the basin one time and time again during the time its taking me to plumb in a completely new bathroom- no local plumber would do it because my husband had started work on it before he died, so I dug deep and got on with the job.
+plumberparts Getting there, I have it all mocked up in Hep2O, just waiting on a friend to come and help me level the bath this weekend ... then I am going to turn the water on and check it all before I screw any of the floor down , its great to be able to watch an expert do it on here so I dont make silly mistakes!
So after you've levelled the bath, you can then offer the panel up and find it doesn't fit. Alternatively you offer the panel up first and once you've got the correct height, then you can level the bath up. Saves a lot of messing about if you do it right from the start!
Hi James, I want to take the bath out of my small bathroom to have a shower enclosure along the wall instead. The bath taps are at one end of the bath attached to the outside waste and the electric shower is at the other end of the bath so the water runs right along to bath before it goes down the waste ! Trouble is, I don't know what lies beneath ! Is it possible to fit a shower enclosure in a situation like this ! I so love your videos for entertainment value alone but so far I've had so much help from watching your videos ! You are great and you have me in stitches ! HOLD TIGHT !!!

Great vid, thanks. I need to remove and old cast iron bath, put a new subfloor in and turn the new bath around. Hopefully the waste pipe can be lengthened and angled ok. This vid will help.

I was all set to put a new bath in myself, having just taken out the old one... thining it would be a simple straight swap. I think after watching this it looks like it could be a monumental faff, so I think I'll get a professional in to do it!
You can do it! Just take your time, and have plenty of patience. Most people fail because they are racing the clock (or their missus is giving them earache to get it done). As ever, preparation is the key to success. Fit the taps and waste first. Flexy friday hoses should help you put the hot and cold away without too much pain. Then you just need to marry up the waste and a trap. Take a look on the net, or merchants catalogues, and see what meets your needs.
Great video thanks. Got to refit a bath next week so great to check out what is involved. Do you rate the Aqua Strap type seals that go under the tiles?
I have acquired two push-fit Flexi,s for connecting to the bath taps, they seem like good quality, But the two i am removing have the standard nut and olives one for the hot which is standard 22m copper, and the cold that has a 15mm to 22mm reducer on it , I look inside the Flexi, and there is only one sealing ring, they look all good but for some reason, being old school I have my doubts , can you possibly advise, me, Yes i do realize everyone is using Flexi, after all, they actually come connected on the monoblock basin tap, cheers anyway mate .
nice video - however how do you deal with walls which are not square? I am trying to fit a bath into a corner but it aint square. What do you recomend? Should I cut into the plaster?
How did you screw the feet in nearer to the back wall? I am about to put a bath in a 1690mm gap. I am using a 1700mm bath so I think chisel out a bit of plaster board. But once in place I can't see how I can get at the far feet
Hello. Liking your videos. Would like to ask an opinion if possible. Just about to fit my first pop up bath waste. It has some lovely thick rubber washers. Will these be enough for the plug side of the bath and just silicone under like you have in this video. Or is it best to silicone all parts. It looks like a good seal but don’t want any leaks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 👍matt
I'm ripping out my old bathroom and fitting a new one during the next 4 days. Just watched your video for a bit of last minute revision! Hope I don't flood the place! Important question though, should I sing Michael Jackson song's whilst doing it for the best results?!
A mahoooosive thumbs up for the lever valve with a nice long handle in those hard to reach and create any torque with finger areas! A small plastic handle valve and dare I saw it a flat head screw driver valve would be a nightmare in an emergency! Have you done a video before exclusively on installing a combination overflow and waste on a bath, I know it's kind of explained here but would love to see. Dedicated updated James version! Cheers, thumbs up
Wildly different to the way I did mine with a wooden framing around the edger of the bath and battens against fixed to the walls to support it. That way there is no movement and the seals stay good.
Great thanks for the video excellent. I am tiling my bathroom floor, I wondered if its better to tile underneath the bath or is it not necessary? Thanks.
Yo PlumberParts, I installed a bath today and I was instructed to fit an anti-air vac fitting on the waste pipe, was wondering if this is good practice or a waste of time? Another great vid btw :)
thanks for the video, these are so helpful. I would like to ask a question. I am taking my bath out to replace it, but will be leaving the bath out until I have done other prep work. Do I have to cap off the waste during this time?. The same question goes for the sink
The waste may well pong a bit, if its tied directly into the soil pipe. If it goes to a hopper outside, that`s o.k. as its in free air. Stuff a plastic bag inside or pop a stop end on them.
Do you have any advice on securely connecting the trap to the waste underneath the bath - the plastic compression nut of the trap comes off the waste thread (also plastic) a bit too easily for my liking. Should I put some silicone on the thread of the bath waste before tightening the trap compression nut on ? cheers
Hi mate good clear fun video I put a new overflow /drain pipe in plus waste trap trap is ok but it's still leaking is it due to no sealant? We are looking into a new bathroom suite but in the mean time need that leak stopped on the plastic part the overflow pips attaches to there is a bigger lip on one end is that the end that faces upwards ? Any help is appreciated thanks
That bath usually has some plastic L brackets that screw round the wall..then the bath drops onto them...mind u there a pain...I often run a batten round the bath so it can't drop with weight of water...check out my bath install to see where them L brackets normal go, on a bath with wood...plus extra seal
Thanks for your tutorials, have been watching all your videos on plumbing tips, and it has given me the confidence to remove my sink and toilet. Embarking on the bath next.
Should the bath be tilted slightly toward the plug hole to allow for the fall when the bath is draining? Or there a slight fall built in the bath already?
I used battens. I also put a wooden frame along the front edge. I don't think plastic baths should be unsupported at the edges. That's especially the case if there's a shower over the top where a watertight seal is essential.
Hi, Thanks for the vid, did you use the same glue to seal the plug hole as you did to glue the bath to the wall? If so what glue was it again? Is it okay to use on the threads of drainage pipes for extra seal? Thanks, Karl
A friend suggested filling the bath full of water once its fitted and before all the tiling so when its empty it will raise slightly and make a better seal.. is it worth it or just fit, tile and seal
Does the bath waste only get tightened by hand ? I installed a waste , tightened by hand then tightened with grips. The seal pushed out the sides at this point but still doesn’t feel like it’s tight enough.
Great video as always PP, you became our first port of call during our whole bathroom revamp process. We have got the same gap between the end of the bath and the wall, like you have in this video - what shall we do with it? Cheers. Ruoxi
Hello mate your the best , I'm tailing and removing my old bathroom to new one , give me advice when I remove my old bath shill , I do the tailing and after to put my new bath or shill I do put the new bath and after the tailing thanks
Run a level baton around the walls the height of the panel. Sit bath on and boom it's already level just wind the feet down to the ground. Saves loads of time adjusting legs and when tiled will not move an inch.
Hi bob here again have placed my bath pipes round the wall as per your vids neat job come to fitting new vanity unit in the guide leaflet it states if your fittings are like for like classed as none regulated no reg reguired as this is a p- shaped new bath taps now at the other end of bath as this is a new layout including the waist pipe would this alteration reguire approvel replacing your bath is not classed as a second bathroom is it ! any help please .

could you do a video, how to install the waste on a free standing bath with a first floor install, newly qualified 6129. I am installing it at my own home not sure how to tackle the waste connection.
Most, if not all, baths will come with a slight gradient built into the moulded shape, so it's ok to install the bath so that the sides are perfectly level.

How high should the bath waste be out the wall 80mm
Fill the bath with water before silicon mate save movement in bath after.
Thank you very much. I have struggled to install my bath but after watching this I should get it sorted now
The over the top scream while lifting the bath out was outstanding.

Nice one james, would you not recommend to cut your tap holes out before u do the final install to make it less awkward when drilling out the holes?

Great video, very entertaining. Its interesting to see how you guys do it across the pond!
What glue did you use on the waste components? Looked like silicone?
Can i ask you why you didn`t baton the bath to the wall like you did in your other video of fitting a bath? Cheers

There is no point it tiling under a bath IMO. Why do that??? :-)

How are you going cover the gap on the left? Surely a batten should of been attached to wall to allow to cover it with tile/make up.

Hi what bathtub is that? Looks great nice and wide
Should the bath be tilted slightly toward the plug hole to allow for the fall when the bath is draining? Or there a slight fall built in the bath already?
The fall is built into the bath already dude!
Nick Greg I was wondering that as I'm just putting a bath in.
its a great job :) l work in this spiciality
my question is:
do you use the copper instead of plastic tubing and pax??
Im just about to fit my new bath and was going to fit a baton along the wall. Should I bother or just glue it like you have this time.

have you used any heat exchangers on a link up of a stove into an exsisting heating system if so what do you use ?
Hi what did you seal the plug and waste with? was it Silicon?
What is size of these bathrooms? My bathroom is of 6×8 foot. Can I place there a 5.5 foot bathtub? Is 5.5 foot bathtub is suitable for adults?
Should the front be supported by a frame onto the wooden blocks on the bath?

could you do a video, how to install the waste on a free standing bath with a first floor install, newly qualified 6129. I am installing it at my own home not sure how to tackle the waste connection.
Is it a good idea to leave a slight gradient towards the plug so that the water will flow that way and allow all the water to drain out?
Most, if not all, baths will come with a slight gradient built into the moulded shape, so it's ok to install the bath so that the sides are perfectly level.
always baton up the wall for the bath to sit on and take in consideration the height of your bath panel , thickness of floor covering and tile heights
+HayleyTrower Height of the panel is a big one.
