Good job mate. One small criticism mate..... Would love to see more how to stuff. Like how you removed the vents and dismantle the vents. I'd love to do something like this (vent colouring) but I'm scared to break something or damage it.... Thank you for your vids....
Was a long one but enjoyed it all. Really is a shame about the splitter 😢. That crazing on the purple paint did it say anywhere not to put laquer on top? When I sprayed my calipers gloss black I noticed this happening after putting clear coat on and that the can said not to put laquer on top of it.
Cheers again man, was hoping it wasnt too long lol. So gutted about the spliter, may make a short vid of trying to repair it if all goes well. With the paint, it said nothing about a clear coat or anything, hardly had anything on the tin lol. Happy with how it all looks tho!
@@Jmncarter it's good to know you can remove that little handle on the air vents. Those are chrome on the mk7s which I kind of like and now know it's a removable part. Would you say the plastics look nice black? Just wondering as on my zetec s I kind of think those bits will just blend in with the black bumpers.
@@Jmncarter hey Carter I forgot to say are you planning on painting the honey effective purple but the background black on the rear diffuser? Search up custom spray mods and he did a little trick you could do. It was a video where he painted a focus RS engine cover 👍
You need to use plastic primer. Plastic primer is brilliant and can be used on many surfaces unlike high build primer. Wet on wet works well with trim..saves time and sanding between coats.
When you did all these bits lad, do you remember how many cans of spray paint you used roughly? Im just going to do the external bodywork black so just wanna know how much paint I’m going to be looking at.
Are that 17" Bola B1´s? What size tyres are u running? Got the same rims, and running a 40 profile tyre. I was just wondering how u lowered ur car and how much?
@@Jmncarter I was kinda hoping that u would say lowering springs. Seen any st´s with a set of lowering springs ever? Of course coilovers are number 1, but springs are more budget friendly at the moment.
@@Jmncarter you normally get a reaction if other sprays or stuff with silicone gets onto the surface that you're spraying or is present in the air and you'll get a reaction like you did!!! I used to pain wheels for a living and had it happen once or twice.
@@Jmncarter I was mobile in a van and went to dealships, normally the valeters washing the cars and spraying silicone sprays that fucked me, traveled in the air, landed on the wheel and caused a reaction lol
paint wrinkled as it wasn't fully cured needed to leave longer to dry ur going to want to re paint so strip the paint off and re do it all... also noticed the went rings u didnt prime before u painted purple...? this could all lead to the issues with the paint wrinkle normally tho if its when u clear coat its because u didn't let it dry longer
Cheers for the help mate. Weird thing was the paint was left a few days before I applied clear coat as i was super busy 😂 thought it would have cured easy by then. Bit weird but its not too noticeable really, dont bother me too much lol. Cheers tho man
@@Jmncarter could be no primer as didnt look like u primed it or it could well be the paint u wana wipe it down before u clear coat using paint prep wipes removes any oils or grease off the surface as ur hands and fingers will leave grease residue also could be to thicker coats or clear not letting them cure enough between coats i normally give 24 hrs between clear coats there are so many variables involved.
@@tobyfox9136 yeah mate I get ya. Definitely so many variables lol, could of been anything. I'm not the best painter but think the car looks way better now.

Probs looking at a good few large cans of each, primer, base coat and clear laquer. Always better to have too much than not enough
Jmncarter cheers, looks class. What products did you use?
How did you fix ur splitter ?

Couldn't you take you're purple paint from the tin and get somewhere to mix you up a spray can?
Could of done but would of cost more but it came out well until the clear coat kinda reacted with it 🤔 good thinking tho

In my opinion, I think you should stick one color and stick with it!!! Red, Purple and Blue do not go together!
