Well its clearly made for kids with its logic and cinimatography. But i must say its quite expertly done for such! Themes small hints for the adults, Scary villans that while not threatening to an adult most certainly will feel so to children. Its just well made pure and simple!
It's been awhile since my childhood. I started to watch this movie again. It's like looking back when I was nine years old. It will always be part of my childhood memory.
Truly easily, probably this series, with both Metru Nui and Mata Nui parts, is the actual only one made in such an high and advanced quality on conceptual, emotional and technical aspects, it has no contest.
@@stephenbyrne2170 It's really disappointing that the 2006-2008 years never got movies. They're arguably Bionicle's best years and it's a real shame that we didn't get any visual media for them.
The scene where Takanuva first appears.... My probably 7 year old self had never known a more badass moment up until that point. Watched this for as long as I can remember, still love it at 19 years old!
AAAAHH! I had TOTALLY forgotten about Bionicle, one of my most childhood-memories-bringing show ever!! This was one of my FAVORITE movies! I never noticed before, but right after she uses her healing water on Tahu, Gali's color goes dull, and then when she's replenishing her supply her color becomes bright again.
The Matoran always reminded me of hobbits. With their small stature and juvenile-like innocence, they're more easily perceived as children than adults, and hardly ever taken seriously... But at the same time, they have traits to be considered admirable by even hero standards; they're filled with courage, loyalty, determination... and the kind of maturity and wisdom (subtle yet so strong, they wouldn't hesitate to risk or give their lives, be it needed) that makes them an inspiration even among warriors of experience and recognition. In fewer words: despite their short bodies, their valor is great, and so are their hearts.
when i was a kid this movie creeped me out, the rahkshis espicially.. so mysterious it was. but I kept watching it over and over again lol then made a bionice army at home
Agreed. As a child I liked Tahu the most, but as I grew up and realized that he was just an annoying hothead I took a liking to Kopaka. He's so... chill haha
What can be considered the greatest movie of all time, as hailed by multiple critics and viewers alike. Director Stanley Kubrick brilliantly captured the struggles of Mogadishu's brutal warlord reign in his third war film, Bionicle. The shifting frames and the reoccurring themes of light and darkness play a crucial role in making this movie smarter than you.
I could see Lewa in this movie smoking a joint chilling because he sounds like a stoner leprechaun. If I asked him if he wanted some weed he would probably say "yes" followed by "This treesmoking is so dank smelling".
And to think. Makuta, the most intimidating and shockingly darkest villain in LEGO history…………Is played by the actor who voiced Cyrus Borg from Ninjago and Snips from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
+Ultrai Breaker If LEGO can still get ahold of Lee Tockar after Ninjago: Rebooted, I'd like to see him reprise the role of Makuta in the Journey to One (if he makes an appearance or has a speaking role at least).
+Ultrai Breaker Even better, in Legends Of Metru Nui, he voices the Matoran Kongu. You know, the little green one that was being held upside down by Nidhiki in the transport chute control center with the really squeaky voice?

The last two waves before they brought it back felt really lifeless though. The flying toa were dull washed out rebrandings of the first toa and the the glatorian basically just summed up the story in the sloppiest way possible. I’m glad it died because I didn’t want it to devolve any more than it already did.

Funny how: In Lord of the Rings Frodo can't bring himself to let Sam "Share the load" of the one ring. In Mask of Light Jaller can't wait for Takua to take the mask off him and be responsible for once.
Yeah, Jaller is awesome. :D So much so that he becomes a Toa himself later down the line. (After the original trilogy of Bionicle films) I love how in almost every context here he tries to tell people that he's captain of the Ta-Koro Guard, even after Ta Koro has been destroyed!

It will forever live in my heart..
Man, how does Tahu keep those swords on his feet when he and Takua are falling from the lava falls? What, are his feet made out of Lego? ...... ...... oh...
Does anyone else think any irony exists in Lego's first direct-to-video movie having a Chosen One storyline, and their first theatrical movie parodizing the Chosen One formula (with such awesomeness that I imagine my Takanuva becoming jealous after he and our other Lego/BIONICLE/maybe Hero Factory figures watch it)?
_LEGO MOVIE_ SPOILERS: If you try to remind me that those figures don't have feelings: They do in my imagination, just like all the minifigures in that movie did in Finn's mind. ;)
I like how Tahu and Gali actually use their mask powers though Gali's is just water breathing. At least I think these are the only two unless the other Toa used their mask powers and I didn't notice, so Correct me if I'm wrong. I also noticed that the only Turaga in this movie that actually spoke were Vakama, Nokama, and Onewa. It would be nice to hear the other Turaga spoke as well, especially Nuju considering he abandoned all sort of use of the Matoran language and uses the language of the Bird Rahi, so it would be nice to hear him speak in that language and have Matoro translate what he said for him.
I actually read the alot of the book series (up to the ninth, or maybe tenth book) back when i was in like 5th grade lol. Almost graduated highschool now o.o
I have Lewa Mata (first Bionicle character I had - it's also my favourite because of his color) Kopaka Mata and Gali Nuva. I always wished that I also have Lewa Nuva, Kopaka Nuva and Gali Mata, so I can would build Kaita, but they were never bought to me :(
I love all the bionicle moive from mask of light to webs of shadow please Lego make more bionicle oh and thumb up if hero factory is stupid but bionicle is #1
The problem I have with this movie is, it's just a bit rushed. Everything in the movie is just so sudden. It just comes and goes, as if non of it made an impact. The scene I am mainly referring to is the one where the Toa of Fire was poisoned. It took like a minute before they were able to heal him, and there really wasn't a reason for it to happen, other than simply filler. Meh. The movie is good, though. Just, it's a bit rushed.
there is some oddities, but for the most part an overall flow, and no shark jumping much except almost maybe for the 'shadows' guy? Still not sure fully get it all, like guess he just that got blinded because of things and had the wrong idea until came light to wake him up? idk... But yeah, a tad odd and slightly "rushed" but an overall flow at the least.
That and there's virtually no backstory given. You're pretty much just supposed to know the story of the Bionicle universe up to this point, fine for children but leaving parents dead in the water.
The 2nd one (being a prequel) more than made up for the first ones mistakes. The third one I'm assuming was alright, but I saw it once and remember literally nothing from it.
In fact that was top tier because it pointed out the progression of that character, humorous as hell and serious too, like seeing an old fighter in any situation like that.
Well, look at it this way: You know how the lore of Transformers has multiple universe co-existing at the same time, consisting of the same characters but in different(ish) settings? Yeah, I think it's gonna play out like that, since it's an alternate universe no doubt.
I remember when I was five years old and Bionicle first came out. These things were the shit! Had all three of the movies, but I liked this one the most. My brother and I used to always play with our Rahkshi, Bohroks, and Toas, including Takunuva with that badass vehicle that came with him, while watching this movie. Great memories, makes me miss my childhood. Had the game for the movie too, used to be fun playing it. Played the Mata Nui Online Game as well, love that game. Looking back at this movie now, it is just so bad. But I will always love it because of how cool it was to me back when I was a little kid.
Thumbs up if Bionicle was your childhood! I hope it was alot, because Bionicle is now returning in January 2015.
I know, I'm so excited!
It's never going to be the same though. Dammit, nostalgia.
Right. It's like Bionicle is going to a whole new generation. But we'll all find out when it's released.

I'm sorta mad that they didn't make a movie out of inika, but, still, a really good movie
And so do Mahri as well :(
I like how Tahu and Gali actually use their mask powers though Gali's is just water breathing.
TAKUUUUUUUUUUUAAAA
Now I can't stop hearing Shining Armor in Jallar's voice. xD
Max Howland Shining Armor is Jallar???!!!!!!
Came here to see the opening, mostly. For some reason it always was my favorite part
omfg i was obsessed with this ;')
Man... Brings back the memories , anyone play the ps2 game here?
I played the shit out of that game.
the movie is so cool
this movie makes me cry, not because of the story but the nostalgia.
I actually read the alot of the book series (up to the ninth, or maybe tenth book) back when i was in like 5th grade lol. Almost graduated highschool now o.o
I only read the Borahk-kal one... (Endless Tears!)
i have this movie on VHS and have some of the figures and i feel old looking back at this, anyone feel the same way
Yup, still have them!!
i have the original toa except for lewa and kopaka but i have all of them in their nuva forms
Bad Arse!!!! I don't even have the originals, only from 2003-09 sad I know...
I have Lewa Mata (first Bionicle character I had - it's also my favourite because of his color) Kopaka Mata and Gali Nuva. I always wished that I also have Lewa Nuva, Kopaka Nuva and Gali Mata, so I can would build Kaita, but they were never bought to me :(
***** i have all of the nuvas and takanuva the toa matas that i have r tahu, gali, onua, and pohato
I know what that Bionicale writing said in the credits, No rahi were harmed in the making of this film.
I love all the bionicle moive from mask of light to webs of shadow please Lego make more bionicle oh and thumb up if hero factory is stupid but bionicle is #1
Damn. Jahla (Or whatever you spell the name) died similar to how Toraga Lihkan died in the second movie (Previous owner of the Mask).
well, jala has lhikans mask
+Cj must be a curse or something
Jonathan Irizarry i think its Jaller
anyone else think that when the match started they said " play well " because Lego translates to play well
The problem I have with this movie is, it's just a bit rushed.
ZGuy0fSci Yeah. It's a good movie, and a lot of nostalgia here!
I used to be the biggest Bionicle fan, ever!
That and there's virtually no backstory given. You're pretty much just supposed to know the story of the Bionicle universe up to this point, fine for children but leaving parents dead in the water.
***** That's also true. I didn't think much of it, as I already knew it, though c:
The 2nd one (being a prequel) more than made up for the first ones mistakes. The third one I'm assuming was alright, but I saw it once and remember literally nothing from it.
25:09 - Vakama isn't as young as he used to be...
But you gotta admit, it's a pretty cool scene. Especially in reference to Vakama's adventures on Metru Nui.
In fact that was top tier because it pointed out the progression of that character, humorous as hell and serious too, like seeing an old fighter in any situation like that.
Tahu saving Takua with lava surfing instantly puts all surfing movies to shame!
I would watch this and Action Man: Robot Atak basically every week as a kid on VHS. Absolute bangers
BIONICLE 2015 HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED!!
I REPEAT!!
BIONICLE 2015 HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED!!
REJOICE, MY BRETHREN!!!
Well, look at it this way:
You know how the lore of Transformers has multiple universe co-existing at the same time, consisting of the same characters but in different(ish) settings?
Yeah, I think it's gonna play out like that, since it's an alternate universe no doubt.
Plausible, much like Nintendo's official Zelda timeline.
Well, time will tell, I suppose, because there are going to be summer sets, y'know?
Possibly a Great Being who tampers with alternate universe?
Who can say, y'know?
i feel so old
I remember when I was five years old and Bionicle first came out. But I will always love it because of how cool it was to me back when I was a little kid.
kopakas always been my favorite
38:35 that used to terrify me as a kid
Absolutely yes, glad we took those strong emotions too
